Wahab Riaz in the last five years - One of the worst pacers ever?

If you exclude Zimbabwe, this is what Wahab's numbers look like -

Having followed Cricket for nearly 15 years, I can't recall another fast bowler with a worse record after playing so many matches. Is he among the worst ever? I think so.
 
not one he is the worst ever and the most overhyped bowler in our entire history.
 
Can't wait for his career to end. Utterly useless player who has had 2 good performances in his entire career. One being Mohali vs India and the other being that spell vs Watson

People compare him with Sami which is an absolute disgrace to that bowler. Sami wipes the floor with Wahab, has a hat trick in ODI cricket, and was the third fastest bowler in an era of Lee and Akhtar.

Was a gun LOI bowler for good part of his prime career.
 
but but a lot of people here were claiming he was better than any indian bowler.
 
Wahab is in the space where Mitchell Johnson was pre 2013!

Has everything going for him except accuracy and a plan.

After the 2013-14 Ashes Mitchell was a changed bowler, maybe Wahab could pick up the phone and dial.
 
in 41 match, and only 33 wickets, this is supposed to be our spear head. take nothing away, he runs in hard gives it all he can. but come on. something is not right.

While I understand the accolades for Sami, I suggest you don't paint him in an extremely rosy picture.

Otherwise our selectors might get a whiff and he might be on a plane to Champions Trophy.

I wouldn't be surprised if the replacement for the 'injured' Riaz turns out to be anyone of Gul, Tanvir or Sami...

Selectors lack a functioning cerebral cortex TBH......
 
He's rubbish. No need for thread after thread about how rubbish he is. We get it now.
 
He gone from bad to worse and will get more bad in coming years. he has lost his brain with his hairs as well.
 
Two Things have ruined pakistan cricket for years
a spell against watson and a 37 ball century
 
His effectiveness was reduced with the 2 new ball rule. Lack of reverse swing has completely neutralised him in this format.
 
Never liked him. He was found out years ago when Kohli hit 180+ plus against Pakistan in a tournament game. I don't remember which one it was but remember that Wahab bowled absolute filth to Kohli.

But he bowls 150k's and thats what you guys all look for. So overhyped by all Pakistani fans.

that's a great pace but you need a brain to exploit this speed if you bowl like you don't know where it will land after your release it then there is no need of this pace because there is no brain to take advantage of it. Wahab should never represent Pakistan team.
 
Had we learnt our lesson last year and selected him for UAE tests only things would have been a lot better for both Wahab and Pakistan.

I don't know why a few good tests in the UAE guaranteed a place in the ODI squad? It's something Pakistani selectors always do. And yes others were also obsessed with his pace forgetting the fact that he will leak runs.
 
Delete this thread mods!! It is totally uncalled for! He still has decent record 34 average is decent and comparing him with Indian pacers of past he has respectable stats.Even India's best pacer nowadays umesh yadav's ER is higher than him and average is equivalent to him.
He is nowhere near the worst pacer in the history.
He will comeback strongly god willing.
He is still fastest bowler in Asia.
One of the worst thread for sure.
 
Poor Wahab.

He is getting the entire blame for the loss.

Not one player performed well. Amir was able to save his reputation by bowling economically. The rest are barely decent.
 
I'm surprised there are still people saying he's not a bad bowler and he'll come back. I wonder where have they been watching cricket all their lives.

He is THE worst bowler ever to play for Pakistan for at least past 2 decades. It's a pity that our cricket is stooped to this level that we had to hype up that ordinary spell to Watson by calling it supposedly a good bowling performance. He has been found out a number of times already yet thanks to his connections of his family in Lahore he is selected in every next tour. Let's hope this ankle injury ends his career because clearly his 80s and 100s won't.
 
As per Bilal, he is better than any of the Indian pacers. :facepalm: in fact he wants wahab selected for the game against SL.
 
As soon as he bowled a wide in his first over I knew he would be carted for 10 an over. He is appaling sub standard 34 year old.
 
You guys are too harsh. Let him earn few tons.

He's like a lot of Pakistan pace bowlers who lack control. Irfan and Tanveer are similar in that they often are incapable of bowling to one side of the wicket, but because they have some pace, swing or bounce are given superhero status while bowlers like Imran Khan who actually can pitch where he wants to stay under the radar.

Bro, that was a satirical comment by him. VK is the worst to have played for India in the recent past, Ishant not so.
 
been saying it for years

Riaz was finished in odis's the moment the two new ball rule was implemented. Before that he still got smashed but got plenty of wickets. These days he looses game after game for Pakistan. Im sick of it, one of the dumbest players to ever walk onto a field, plus his pace is also incredibly overated.

At least the 37 ball century was a rare achievement considering the time and was genuinely a good innings.
Spell against Watson though had nothing special about it.I mean the guy couldn't even get him out fgs
