Wahab Riaz - What exactly is his role with Pakistan team?

Looks like wahab is as clueless of his position as babar is clueless as a captain.

Maybe these 2 are a match made in heaven. I wonder if their tinder profiles share the same personality traits of

1) Clueless
2) Useless

WR's role in Pakistan team ? no one knows , like most of the political appointments . He is being rewarded for some political connections he has . He was in Naqvi's team in caretaker government and Naqvi wants to keep him around as " apna khass banda".
 
He along with Bilal Afzal are Mohsin Naqvi's eyes and ears in the Pakistani team.

He is no longer the Chief Selector and is certainly not the Head Coach, but seems to be hanging around the team, dugout?

Isn’t his new role in the setup Senior Team Manager? I’m pretty sure that’s what was announced. Now, what that actually means is anyone’s guess. I think he’s trying to figure that out himself.
 
What the everlasting duck is happening in that clip? This atmosphere uncomfortably reminds me of my highschool cricket team where there were 3 "captains or leaders" who all thought they were in charge. (Sadly, I was one them).
 
Even wahab riaz will have no answers for this question because PCB made a mess. He was made selector first then he was made " senior" team manager. I mean what PCB is doing here or trying to do. Are they somehow trying to fit Wahab in PCB setup? Because this makes no sense.
 
Wahab is a proper example of a below average individual making it to the top by just knowing the right people at the right time. I have seen many such individuals in government, corporations around the world. They are not competent at what they do, but they are very competent at rubbing the right palms, and making the right connections. I say this from personal experience, as when i started working with the innocent ideals of hard work, i soon realized and got basically blackpilled on how real success is gained, not by hardwork but by your "soft skills".

He is number two in the PCB after Mohsin Naqvi. Heck Mohd Harris is now suffering and has now faded into oblivion because Wahab has issues with him.
 
Wahab Riaz is going beyond his remit as a selector.

However there's nobody to hold him accountable because he's Mohsin Naqvi's man.

What's fascinating is those who were crying foul about political interference during the IK era are totally silent about a sitting advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab concurrently occupying the post of national selector.

He always wanted to become an all rounder.. see he has bacome now after taking retirement from cricket lol
 
Guys like Usama Mir and Mohammad Harris are not being given NOC as they have played 2 leagues this year, while Amir and Imad got Nocs and are playing for Pakistan.

Amir bowled crap in PSL and is playing for Pakistan.
Usman Khan got selected because PCB felt guilty that they had him lose his UAE contract and selected him on pitty.
Azam Khan being a fat is not only made part of the squad, but also asked to keep wickets as they cant adjsut him in the field. Meanwhile the main keeper has been asked to field.
Babar being made captain.

Has Wahab Riaz proved himself to be the worst selector ever? I always thought this award went to Mohammad Ilyas, but Wahab has topped him
 
As per reports, The distance between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and senior team manager and selector Wahab Riaz has begun to widen. Recently, selector Bilal Afzal has assumed a more prominent role, overshadowing Riaz in cricket consultations and discussions.

For the past few weeks, Riaz has been noticeably absent from key consultations, with Afzal taking the lead in all significant cricketing matters. This shift has been particularly evident since the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, as Riaz and Naqvi have yet to meet since then.
 
As it is team seems disarrayed and loosing matches dime a dozen to Zim, Afg, Usa, Irel and NZ club team.
They should replace 6-7 players with new guys with potential and try them for next 10 games.
What's the worst that can happen? Will loose all 10. But who knows one may find 3-4 good performers

Good god.. Afzal is the de facto head of cricketing matters now? This is the fake data analyst who worked in ministry of Environment Protection and Fisheries?? What a joke, he knows absolutely nothing about cricket.

What did the person who knew about cricket Ramiz Raja do when given charge?

I find it laughable and over rated that you need to know Cricket to operate effectively in the PCB.

As long as Bilal Afzal is a competent impartial neutral professional, I don't mind as long as he makes decisions in the PCB honestly and on merit.

Ex players are useless administrators as Naqvi has quicky realised :ROFLMAO: They are terrible coaches too.

Also Kirsten needs full control of the dressing room.
 
Wahab Riaz the unlikely savior for Pakistan Champions against West Indies Champions in the World Championship of Legends 2024. Took 2 wickets so far by conceding 16 runs in 3 overs.

There are competent and incompetent people in every field. You can be a doctor and kill a patient, it doesn’t mean you hire an accountant to perform surgery. If you’re in charge of cricketing matters, you should have some level of experience in the subject matter.

There should be a Cricket Committee for that purpose where they can advise the PCB on cricketing affairs but Pakistani Cricketers by and large are grotesquely incompetent, badniyat.

Sorry to break it to you but there is no Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman in our cricket system. I would rather trust a competent professional neutral in comparison with no likes, dislikes complexes to put the PCB right.

Naveed replaces Wahab as Pakistan’s team manager​

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Naveed Akram Cheema as the new team manager, replacing Wahab Riaz, who was removed from the post following national team’s poor performance in the ICC T20 World Cup, according to a press release issued by PCB on Wednesday.

Wahab, who held a dual role as a national selector and senior team manager, was dismissed from both positions after Pakistan failed to qualify for the Super Eight stage.

Naveed, a retired bureaucrat and former chief secretary of Punjab, has previously served as team manager twice.

He will lead the team management for the upcoming two-Test home series against Bangladesh, which includes Jason Gillespie (head coach), Azhar Mahmood (assistant coach), Tim Nielsen (high-performance coach), Cliffe Deacon (physiotherapist), Drikus Saiman (strength and conditioning coach), Talha Butt (analyst), Irtiza Komail (security manager), Syed Nazir Ahmed (media and digital manager) and Mohammad Imran (masseur).

Wahab was defo the worst selector we ever had, quite the achievement considering his competiton was wasim, Haroon rasheed and Misbah lol
 
Wahab Riaz via local media:

"At times, when I played, I think it was because I was a favourite, but when I wasn't playing, I wasn't liked e.g. Mickey did not like me. I sat out for 2 years under him, even though I was great in PSL then. I was disliked because of being outspoken."
