War with Pakistan is inevitable: BJP MP Subramanian Swamy

An Indian lawmaker belonging to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for his government to begin “serious homework” for a war with Pakistan.

Subramanian Swamy, a Rajya Sabha MP, said the time has come to “wage war against Pakistan,” Press Trust of India reported.

“I don’t say that we should do this [declare war] immediately, but we should start doing serious homework for this right now.”

The Indian lawmaker was speaking on India’s allegation that the family of convicted spy Kulbhushan Jadhav was harassed in Pakistan, a claim that Islamabad has denied.

He likened the alleged harassment to “Draupadi’s vastraharan”.

“It’s my personal opinion,” Swamy, a member of India’s parliamentary consultative committee on external affairs, said as an apparent corollary before saying “It [the personal opinion] often becomes party’s opinion also.”

India accused Pakistan on Tuesday of harassing the family of self-confessed spy on death row Jadhav, saying their meeting was held in an “atmosphere of coercion”.

Jadhav met his mother and wife in Islamabad on Monday, their first meeting since his arrest from Balochistan last year on charges of espionage and terrorism.

“It appears that Jadhav was under considerable stress and speaking in an atmosphere of coercion,” the Indian foreign ministry said in a statement shortly after top Indian officials debriefed his family in New Delhi.

However, the Pakistan Foreign Office rejected India’s claim that Jadhav’s family was harassed during their meeting.

“The Indian baseless allegations and twists that come 24 hours later, about the visit of the wife and mother of Commander Jadhav are categorically rejected,” it said in a statement on Tuesday night.

In the foreseeable future, a direct confrontation in the shape of war is simply not going to happen due to the elephant in the room i.e. Nukes. Otherwise the incidents like 26/11 , pathankot and the URI attack which India blamed Pak for, were acts of war.

Proxy wars would continue, and the best bet for both countries (if they are hell bent on destroying each other) is to try and hurt the territorial integrity of the other country and destabilize the rival like that.

Unless some innovation, some new technology gets invented ,i dont see India and Pakistan going to war with each other. At least not on their own because it simply is not economically viable. The costs outweigh the benefits by a landslide.

However, if world politics takes a monstrous form and war is brought to this region from outside in the form of ww3 or something, then that could be a different story.

No, there is a difference between what i am saying and what he believes. If you follow his statements regularly, he believes India and Pakistan, even in an isolated environment, hate each other so much and are so incompatible, that they can go to any lengths to destroy each other and in that sense a war is inevitable.

While on the other hand i believe its not inevitable. Saying that there is a remote possibility is different than saying its inevitable. A remote possibility of war is even exists between India and China for instance, Or even USA and Mexico. Obviously you know that there are more restraints as compared to push factors. A demography change of even 20% can decide who rules in new delhi, and what the policies of the govt will be. So it is still a threat to the Indic and Dharmic way of life. I believe the main threat is from convent education and the brainwashing of hindus who have gone astray from our dharmic way of life. India must follow Nepal who recently criminalized evangelism if it wants to preserve its glorious civilization.

Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but you are also one of the brainwashed if you are referring to the drinking establishment as a pub. Islam is flourishing the world over. Is the fastest growing religion and set to be the majority religion in a few decades. So it is hinduism which needs protection, where we can't even get ONE TEMPLE back. We are a spiritual people but it was taken away and secularism imposed on us..and our faith is crumbling like our ancient neglected temples trying to bear the burden of secularism.
