So lets get this right.

Pakistan batting does an abysmal job and the coach gets angry! Whats the issue here?

Looks like some folks not impressed by Mickey's behaviour but lets put that to the test in this poll.

Its about time someone says something, he always backs them up and has so much passion for Pakistan Cricket and they should be taking responsibility

He is more passionate about PCT than many Pakistanis tbh.His reactions show it all whether yesterday or NZ series or in Champions trophy.A coach who stands up for his team.He has every right to be angry because we gave this match on a platter to SA.If a player feels offended by his harsh truths they should quit.

He really loves Pakistan more than our players. He has all the right to bash them and to remind them they need to take responsibility.

It’s not as simple as the two options mentioned in the poll. Off course he should have done what he did but it’s the timing that really bugs me. He could’ve waited for the test match to be over before launching into it. We weren’t going to bat again in the match anyway. So what was the point? What he said should have been said after the game. It was one of the reasons why Waqar got the boot by the PCB at the end of his tenure as a head coach. Knowing the culture of Pakistani dressing rooms, I can safely assume that there will now be groupings and infightings in the camp where some would lobby to get Mickey fired and some would lobby to get the others, who are lobbying to get rid of Mickey, dropped.

Sad thing is its happening atleast a year too late, as all the positions including the one of Micley are under threat now.

Question also is, will this make a difference? If it can why he didnt do it against Srl, NZ test series?

How do you know that it’s haplening now? How do you know when is the right time to tell off players? Is your assumption here that aoaching consists of acting like a disappointed parent?

I will believe it all once he takes action and drops Sarfraz, Asad. Even dropping Sarfraz would a step.

Sarfraz's form is really damaging Pak's chances.

Yes he was right. If you continually let the side down , you should be told off. It's not as if they are playing their 1st test.

Mickey's reaction is not a big deal. That's what coaches are there for. The bigger deal is the leak to the press. PCB should investigate that.

Telling off isn’t an issue but the fact that it’s coming from a clueless person means it’s gounf to fall on deaf years

All three got out similarly. If the coach isn't frustrated with them then there's something wrong. I say drop at least two of them [Shafiq/Sarfraz] and give Azhar a telling over and a warning.

Mickey is absolutely justified in giving the sainted seniors a long overdue rollocking. These guys have ducked their responsibilities time and again. Even the much criticised Imam and Shan showed more spine than they did in the 2nd innings.

Most one sided poll in a while. They deserve to be slated for their pathetic performances. If you get out to a peach of a delivery, so be it, but that hasn't been the case for these senior players.

Who exactly thinks Mickey was wrong to do this? Poll is 100% in favor of the opposite.

I think the bigger issue is that things like these are getting leaked. Players themselves might not necessarily have much of a problem with a scolding from Mickey but the media tends to twist and turn something like this and paint it as a sign of inner-turmoil. If it was someone from the team management who leaked this, then that someone needs to be fired promptly.

Love you Mickey, please say some more " nice words" to them on my behalf too, please. :trump

Why is this stuff being leaked out to the media and us, minutes after it happened?

That is the bigger question here. Is somebody from the team in on this?

Our bowling isn't the issue, it is the batting. We can't win much if our best "batsman" is a nightwatchman tailender Azhar Ali. The less said about Asad and Sarf the better. Then we have bhateeja holding onto a spot because of chachu.

Nephew looked great in the second innings. Real problem are the 2 A's who are now getting brutally exposed for the true players that they are and a non performing captain

Forgive me for not going gaga over an innings of 57 after failing for 10+ innings on the trot.

That 57 came against Rabbada, Steyn and Co on a prime SA wicket. He should be given the benefit of doubt. Real problem are players who have conned their way to 60-70 test matches.

He was also dropped when he was in the single digits or teens, would have been yet another failure had Amla not been so benevolent. That being said it was a good innings, but doesn't mean that we start writing novels in his praise. He has alot to prove, still, till that time he will remain a nepotic selection.

As a child who got the danda pretty often from my parents I can only vouch for it. I hope Mickey actually uses the danda dressing room ka darwaaza band karkay...

Nothing wrong with what Mickey did , first they are professional cricketers they need to learn how to deal with all sorts of critisism, in this case it's truly valid the critisism that they have received. Secondly thier senior players their the ones that need to stand and delivery which they have not. Lastly they shouldn't be mad or go Agaisnt Mickey Arthur he is your coach if he is telling you something good or bad it's because he wants you to succeed he is not your hater or enemy , he is the one that wants to guide you to success

It would be better if he is able to use a big danda as well in my view

The poll answers the question. I guess Arthur just let out pent-up frustration over the last couple of series. Pakistan senior players have been really poor. Azhar, Asad and Sarfaraz had to lead and help the young players settle but the kind of shots they have been playing has put lots of pressure on the team.

Surprised...(not) that a forum of 68,000 and has only 68 votes for something that should have been happening for decades.

I'm not sure wha twas said, was it in a press conference or behind closed doors?

Now, there is a difference between criticising constructively and demoralising a side. Arthur has at rack record of setting himself up to fail, of causing back room problems and getting into unnecessary scraps. He can't devalue the dressing room and hurt team morale.

From recent comments by Flower, the team dressing room is at an all time low. Yes certain players need to be talked to, but there is a correct way of doing it and an incorrect way, from history, ARthur often falls into the latter.

Mickey Arthur's style is perfect for a country like Pakistan but not for Australia. He has probably learnt by now that our players don't buck up without a danda and he is the perfect person to put them on their toes

It was a deserved tongue lashing, but don't think Azhar should have been amongst the other two.

Take away his 36 from the 1st innings and SA would have been chasing 113, which puts into perspective his contribution.

perfect for Pakistan how? And why not for Australia?

Its a package deal, to keep Imam in the team, others demanding why not we too. Imam's one good innings after 10 failure is no achievement. Our "legend " Hafeez used to do the same and also Shafiq.

Mickey is doing a great mistake. He should have known by now that even if Asad,Azhar,Sarfraz give 100 percent, they will achieve very little. Because they are players of limited capability. You can't make them Kohli,Root,Smith,Williamson. If Mickey want to rectify this old problem with Pakistan's batting, he has to search for new batsmen who averages 50 in FC cricket.

Sure, but the rot is deeper than this. It has become a source of strange comfort for commies, PPers and cricinfo writers alike, to bemoan the state of our middle order. But it is virtually the whole lineup that is missing a certain something. Imam has been extremely inconsistent, as, so far, has been Fakhar; Babar has been a smidgeon better but still not bloody minded enough. There is no quick fix to this problem.

At no point over the last three years have Mickey Arthur or Sarfraz Ahmed taken responsibility for defeat. It’s always the batsmen or the bowlers. Never the coach or the captain.

It is pretty normal for seniors to take more blame and newcomers are given more leeway.

Had no effect it seems on 2 - Sarf maybe....

Looks like he didn't tell them off enough.

Mickey - don't get mad, drop them (Shafiq and Sarfraz).
