Afghanistan was on a roll before the UAE Tri-Nation series and was keep dishing out upset defeats to big sides every now and then. Infact, in the T20I format they managed to feature in the Semi-final in 2024 after eliminating Aussies too.
But since that fateful pre-tournament press conference last month where they happily embraced the second best team title, they have been falling down the slope. And has lost 2 times against a 7th rank Pakistan (in a one-sided fashion in Tri-Nation series final), has lost to Bangladesh for the first time in their history outside Bangladesh and now has bottled a big chance to defeat Sri Lanka despite Mohammad Nabi's 32 runs heroics in the last over.
So the simple question is whether it was the pressure of this tag that overwhelmed them or was the "manufactured" nature of the tag that exposed them big time in Asia Cup 2025?
