Was this one of the best ever fast bowling performances on such a pitch?

5 wickets for abbas on a wicket which offered nothing to pacers

idk about all time our greats have got 5fers on our highways in Pakistan. I remember even Junaid has a few 5fers on some placid tracks in SL and UAE. but one of the best 5fers by a Pakistani pacer in the last few years for sure.

I love the yorkers.

Junaid never was this good esp. in Tests.

Anyway, let's not get carried away too much and claim Abbas > Amir etc. based on only one match. Gotta take into account the opposition.

Don't forget, ISHANT SHARMA is the only other seamer with a 5-wicket haul on this flat pitch!!!

Hawkeye Junaid has some very good Test 5fers on dead roads too before his injuries and subsequent decline.

But abbas has done this based upon strong first class performance, unlike sohail khan, rahat ali, hasan ali and wahab

Abbas has the raw ingredients for a good Coach to work with him. Not the finished article by any means but I hope he keeps working hard.

Junaid of 2012-2013 was decent, no doubt, on tracks that assist seam bowling, just like Umar Gul (couldn't swing back then either).

Not sure what you're looking to say..

I liked this performance and was good to see those amazing yorkers on a consistent basis.

Sohail, Hasan etc. are good too.

Though indisputably fair enough to say that Abbas has so far been better than Amir (And Hasan and Yasir) in this match?

Yes yes yes Abbas has done the unthinkable here lovely sclaps which he got #legendary (Sobers, ViV, Lloyd, Lara, Richie)

Abbas's 5 wickets were: Injured Chase, Vishaul "can't play pace" Singh, and three tail-enders. Not even close to being one of the best performances.

Sohail Khan had a similar FC season like Abass in 2014-2015 where he took 69 wickets. He than topped Pentagular Cup aswell and got selected for World-Cup. He was at his peak fitness+endurance level in 2014-2015.

Than he played No Cricket for 8 months because of back injury. Sohail worked very hard on his fitness, lost weight aswell but given his body isn't flexible enough plus history of 3 stress fractures of Back he struggled in his 3rd and fourth spells in his last Test Stinct but I don’t think he is responsible for that. He tried his best and got 2-3 fivefers and was excellent with the new ball. Better than Rahat, Imran & Wahab.

He's Almost 30

If He is genuine 27 than at a similar age Chris Woakes improved massively in terms of control, speed, swing & fitness.

Even if he is 29-30 if he stays injury free and keep working hard than He can easily give 4-6 good years of Test Cricket to Pakistan.

From where you bring this comparison ? I missed the commentary thread posts if you are referring to some posts. Atleast I don’t see such comparisons in this thread.

Yea he wasn't but still that was the only top-order batsman he got out. Congrats to him on 5 wickets, but sorry to say that this thread is out of place.

I think Major's thread is in place.

It was a dead track. Abass did not tie his team mates with a rope not allowing them to take wickets of Tailenders.

When I started watching Cricket I saw experienced Wasim Waqar destroying tails. Well I never minded it. I loved it.

Read one of his interview most probably at PP. He claims that after long spells Identical fingers of Asif & Abass get abit swelled due to certain release technique.

The other fast bowlers did not get to bowl to tail. Amir got Dowrich in his first spell. Then Abbas got easy wickets of tail when he came on. Hasan could've done the same thing. I won't be happy if I see Abbas in team for more than 3 years.
