It's a really tough one for me because I love both. I'd say Water Melon has more of a repeat value like you could eat it every day, while the Mango is too sweet to eat everyday despite how special it is ? I don't know, it's a very tough call for me.

Too much of a sweet thing may not be appealing, then again the Melon is the polar opposite in that regard so it comes down to preference. Which fruit out of the two would you be able to eat every day?

Water Melon: After I come home after a long day out on a hot summer day.

Mango: As dessert after dinner.

Cheeky! if you had to pick one which one would it be regardless :ksi

Both are blessings from Allah SWT. Water melon helps against dehydration on hot days and Mango is the perfect choice after a spicy dinner.
Mangoshake after work out in summers just wins it.

Mango is the undisputed king of fruits. Even Custurd > Water Melon.

Watermelon is a superior investment, as nice as mangoes are they tend to be quite expensive for the amount of fruit you get per unit, whereas a Watermelon is cheaper pound-for-pound and lasts much longer.

Watermelon is a McGrath whereas Mango is a Dennis Lillee ...

Mangoes without a question.

Mangoes never disappoint. While with watermelon I never know if it is going to end up being exactly right or too ripe or too less. Then there is the smell of the Mangoes. The smell alone is enough to make the saliva level rise in my mouth. While if I buy a whole watermelon I'd have to cut it in pieces so that it fits in the fridge even though I won't be eating all of it in one sitting. Not to forgot the waste of watermelon, big green rinds attracting all kind of insects, the dustbin is full in two seconds.

Another field where Mangos beat watermelon is the different variétés Mangoes come in. Do I want to suck it or cut it up? And even then there are two main ways to cut a Mango and enjoy. Cut it in many slices or cut it in two halves and dig in with a spoon.

If I chose to suck it however then it gets really interesting. I first have the honor of pressing it and making it soft just how I like it, then suck out all the juice until there is no more and then rip open the Mango leather and out comes the Mango seed. A big giant seed. The Mango seed alone commands respect while with watermelon I get many annoying little seeds. Though I enjoy munching on watermelon seeds. The Mango seed provides a new way to enjoy the fruit a new sensation, a new feeling. After the seed has been cleaned off from the magic flesh then comes the round two of juice sucking from the remaining part.

While watermelon offer no such varieties. Big or small, round or oval shaped it ends up being all the same.

You can also make nice milkshape from mangoes, while with watermelon I get juice dripping from my mouth.

Watermelon gets second place though. The red meat is very tasty when it's just right.

I have bad news for some people on here:

If the Mango is too sweet it means you are too weak!

mango all day man. so sweet and more versatile. great in juice in in ice cream/lollies n desserts.

For taste Mango,for health Watermelon.

Overall Mango anyday or anytime, watermelon not really.

100% Mango, every day of week hands down. Nothing comes close, fresh mango kei saat lassi, kya baat hei :)

Looks like the Mango has won a majority decision against the Water Melon

Just so it is clear we are talking about Pakistani mangoes in particular and not all mangoes in general, because if you have had a Mexican mango you will even rate it worse than a karaila..

Yeah the "Tommy Atkins" variety sold in North America are hit and miss. Usually miss.

:)) How come you don't post often anymore, I think you went into a retirement once you won the POTW :afridi Haroon claimed his title and retired as champion

These two fruits are usually popular in my area during Ramadan and the Summer, I love them both; mangoes were always going to win, I just wanted to see how much of a fight the Water Melon would put up :yk

I love the taste of both personally. But if I had to choose I would say Mangos. Especially Pakistani mangos are lovely. Watermelon is also beautiful especially on a hot day and has more health benefits but taste wise I say mangos > Watermelon

Haha - I actually got the POTW quite early on, in late 2013 and posted frequently until at least the end of 2015 but since then I've doubled down. In the last few months, I had second year uni exams and now started my placement so don't get much time to post and also rather focus on other things.

Ngl, watermelon is also one of my favourite fruits but Pakistani mangoes have their own special place in the pantheon of fruits.

I crave for mangos. Love them like anything. As for watermelon, nothing is better than watermelon juice after sweating profusely in a hot summer day.

One of the few items that make Pakistanis proud abroad

Mango is a prominent horticultural product in Pakistan, where it is regarded as the “king of fruits”. It is the second most cultivated fruit after citrus. Pakistani mangoes are internationally famous for their sweetness, juiciness, nutrition and unique flavour.

This is a tough one for me as I love both fruits.

I pick mango as it tastes better.

Mango is the king of Fruits. But it is too sweet.
Watermelon can be eaten any time. Great hydration option.

Watermelon should really compete in it's own weight-class with the likes of muskmelon, papaya and stuff.

Mango has transcended these petty fights and can only compete internally. We can sit around debating Alphonso Vs. Chausa Vs. Kesar but we can't demean them by comparing with the lesser fruits.

Alphonso Mango is the King of Fruits.

$10 Pakistani mangoes sold for $120 in Dubai after repackaging

UAE Consul General highlights potential in Pakistani mango industry; value addition can enhance market and earnings

The UAE Consul General Bakhit Atiq Al-Rumaiti has highlighted Pakistan's potential to enhance the value and reach of its mango industry through value addition.

Speaking at the Future Summit in Karachi, Al-Rumaiti noted that investors from the UAE receive facilitation upon arrival, but Pakistani investors face challenges such as visa issues and additional expenses.

He emphasized the need to provide ease for investors wherever possible.

Al-Rumaiti remarked that Pakistan has an excellent mango crop, which is in high demand in Dubai. He pointed out that Pakistani mangoes are sold in Dubai for $10 but, after repackaging, are sold at $120.

This underscores the need for value addition in Pakistan’s agricultural sector, which requires collective effort from both government and stakeholders.

Al-Rumaiti also highlighted that food security is a top priority in the region, adding that many Pakistanis in Dubai often request Pakistani mangoes as gifts for their families.

He further explained that while the UAE has shifted its focus to economic growth rather than political issues, any Pakistani seeking investment opportunities in the UAE will be directed to the relevant ministry for assistance.

It’s that time of the year brother.

Everybody come here to bow down to Alfonso Mango, the one true king of the Fruit kingdom brother.

Ain’t no fruit like a Mango.
Ain’t no Mango like an Alfonso.

Greatest of all time

Man is simple. Man loves to see Mango. Man loves to hold mango. Man loves to play with mango. Man loves to eat mango.

Nothing beats the taste of good mangoes. Gives instant energy and taste extremely delicious.
Watermelon has more water content (97%) and is great with dehydration and quenching thirst.
Both are blessings.

I would rather have plain water over watermelon.

I would rather have mango than any exotic chocolate or dessert.

Mango wins.

The Watermelon won the battle last month for me, it must do for most Muslims during Ramadan because even the mainstream supermarkets stock it in abundance during the month. Don’t bother with Mango from anywhere other than Asian places, it’s like a million times better.

Has to be watermelon. Mangoes are good but you’re not going to be eating more than 4-5 slices.

I’ll be eating watermelons till my fingers get that tingling sensation.

Like many others here, I simply adore mangoes. Personally, I mostly enjoy Pakistani mangoes.

In the summer, I also buy plenty of mangoes, peel off the skin, cut them into slices, and freeze them so I can enjoy mango shakes during the winter.

This winter, however, I've opted for South American mangoes. Wow, they can be incredibly delicious, and they're not sticky either, as they can easily be cut into beautiful cubes.

I had Mexican mangoes a while ago. Those were actually subcontinental mangoes but were grown in Mexico I guess.

I am based in Toronto and we have street sellers here who sell mangoes along with other fruits.

I started to buy mangoes from a Sri Lankan seller last year. He was selling mallika mangoes, jackfruits, and rambutans (type of Sri Lankan lychee).

Stop living your life like a miser. If you wanna enjoy mangoes, be a real man and get yourself some Alphonso yar.

Sorry bro but mango is the GOAT. Watermelon is the sleeping suit or pajamas one wears to bed. Very comfortable, feels like home, etc.

But mango is the three piece suit you wear to your wedding, or your friend’s wedding to see if there’s potential rishta from bride’s sides if you’re single

Interesting , how did they name it that way.
One of personal favorites as well. Alphonso's still the king of course but I never miss the chance to stuff a few Himayat (that's another name for it) whenever I'm down in Hyderabad.

The name's a funny one. There's fanciful stories about it used to Emperor Humayun's favorite etc. but it's clear it has origins with some Muslim farmer or farmers who developed the variety. It's similar to Alphonso in a sense - fleshy, low fiber, very sweet but it's larger and there's a tinge of sour added to the sweetness. Tough to find even in the south where Banginapalli seems to have completely taken over the market nowadays.

Your Majesty 👑

“The Alphonso of the Western Ghats, King of Mangoes, Jewel of Ratnagiri, the Golden Delight, First of His Name. Ruler of Summers, Bringer of Sweetness, the Unmatched Aroma, the Melter of Tongues, and the One True Heir to the Throne of Fruits. Born of the Konkan sun and kissed by Arabian winds, the fruit that emperors craved and poets praised. No rival dares challenge his taste. The greatest of all time. ”

In central Tamil Nadu districts, we used to see a lot of those Imam pasand. But they dwindling down with other varieties being preferred in organized farming. The agriculture dept. provides seedlings of other varieties and the farmers just go with them.
