"We have proposed a Pink ball Test to Bangladesh" : Wasim Khan [BCB reject offer Update Post #14]

Wasim Khan speaking on TV:

"Fantastic to see a full house here, we saw it against SL too. People came out in their thousands in Pindi. It's wonderful to have brought cricket back here to Rawalpindi and for them to witness that today, truly remarkable, sort of hair on the back of the neck standing up really.

"We've seen a 16-year-old come on the scene with dynamism, they bring something different, new energy, we've seen the influx of younger players this year. We've seen Babar come of age and this is just great for Pakistan cricket.

"We had proposed it (a Pink ball Test) to Bangladesh and it's something we'd like them to consider because that's the direction the world's moving now. Test cricket played with the Pink ball is something we want to explore more because we're going overseas now more and more and you'll get countries asking us to play a Pink ball Test, so it's important for us to get exposure, and also to allow more people to come and watch from all over the country.

"One of the big things is that we're in discussions with SA to come to Pakistan, their board has signed it off, they are keen to support Pakistan cricket. They finish in India on 18th March and PSL finishes on 22nd March so logistically, we're trying to work it out. Ideally, we could have them here on 24th March playing the 1st T20I. The more countries we can bring over, the better for us.

"Let's not pretend that we've done all the work, a lot of work has gone on for the last 2-3 years, we've had white ball cricket coming back. But to get Test cricket back is the pinnacle for us, that's the health check for any country and we've seen what home advantage has done for us, something we lacked in the UAE."

A late change of plan from PCB.

Pink ball Test in Karachi.

I'm not sure they'll be overly keen on it.

No need for this, its absolutely pointless. The 60 points are more important than this vanity.

The world is moving towards pink ball tests. First, people here get mad people don't show up to test matches, but also oppose DN tests?

Also, the pink ball supports fast bowlers even more than the red one, so even for the cricket on the field, this will be better for us.

Regardless of red/pink, unless there is a washout, it would take a miracle for BD to win a test match currently. That too without their 2 ace players - don't think would have made much of a difference to begin with. Don't worry too much about that ...

Bangladesh will probably decline. It will only worsen their chances of achieving a favorable result.

At least it saves us getting up at 5am in the freezing cold mornings over here in the UK to watch the cricket if it is a pink ball game and therefore a later and more pleasant start time to take in the action.

Actually 6am given the clocks would have changed over by April. And the temperatures would have improved by then. So not fussed given it is an April Test.

Ideal to have the 2nd Test in April.

Avoids a longer gap before the Test at Lord's this summer since Pakistan would've last played Tests.

Worked out well for the PCB through Bangladesh's initial reluctance.

Pink ball test will generate more revenue for PCB because there will be more viewers in Pakistan and overseas who will be able to tune in to the match.

As per PCB spokesman

We had offered Bangladesh to play a day/night Test in Karachi, which they have refused citing lack of under lights practice.
