Mickey Arthur speaking to the press in Kent today :-
"Yes we are very confident (going into this series); we are a young team"
"We are trying to resurrect our Test side"
"We have some incredible talent in our dressing room"
"England are a really good Test side and in these conditions they are outstanding"
"They arent too many sides thar win away from home and that's how we are challenging ourselves"
"England weren't too bad in the Ashes; they had their opportunities during the series"
"I saw that Stoneman had a decent series and we know Joe Root is world class"
"We are just concentrating on ourselves at the moment"
"Mohammad Amir has trained hard, we have had 4 weeks of tough training in Lahore and he will be here and could feature in the game (against Kent)"
"Mohammad Amir is our number one bowler"
"We back him in tough situations and he generally gets it done for us"
"We need him to get the ball swinging and get his length slightly fuller"
"And if he does that he will ask a lot of questions (of batsmen)"
"The passion and excitement of Pakistanis to see international cricket at home was amazing"
"And for our players to play in front of their people and families was amazing too"
"Hope these tours (to Pakistan) open up doors for international cricket in Pakistan"
About Australia ball tampering controversy
"Yes it was a shock for me"
"I was disappointed to see that go down"
"They push the line but i want to know what that line is"
"This looks like a reality check for world cricket"
"They [Smith/Warner/Bancroft] were really stupid but they played a heavy price for it"
"We know our batsmen have to play lot later and cover off stump"
"We've got a lot of time to adapt here. We've got enough time and I'm pretty sure our guys are good enough to adapt as quick as possible"
"The calendar doesn't really allow it anymore; so for us to be able to come here (early) and get this preparation is amazing"
"Winning away from home now is very tough, not many teams win away from home so the best possible thing is to give ourselves the best preparation time, and hopefully we will be ready when that first Test arrives"
"Shadab is an incredible player, Yasir is also a fantastic player"
"I saw a stat and I think he (Yasir) has taken 78 wickets for us in the last 2 years, he bowls a lot of overs, he has the ability to attack"
"Now Shadab Khan is incredibly exciting"
"We also think that the time we're playing in England, we are not 100% sure that spin is going to be a massive factor so we are covered in the seam department "
"Yasir was a big loss for us but we've got him at the NCA, he is getting stronger, his stress fracture is healing and it is very important for us to have him fit and firing for the Australia and New Zealand series"
"We have had the workload debate (re Mohammad Amir) for a long time now and every team is doing it. We've got only three weeks off in the calendar (till the World Cup) so we'd be silly to arrive here without all our bowlers ready to go"
"We know who those bowlers are and we have identified them; We just need to manage their workload"
"Ultimately, we want the best team available to play in 2019 WC but also it so important for us to win Test matches because we are a young Test match team; We need to get our Test match cricket on track; to do that we need a pool of player who can play at any given time, and I think we have done that"
Regarding mood of the team
"The tour of England is an exciting time and they are a young group of guys so for them to come to England is amazing, the vibrance around our training session was amazing. They're fit and ready to go"
"The selection panel and myself have given these guys a real good opportunity that they get first crack at rebuilding this Test side and I'm pretty sure they'll come to the party"
Practice Match against Kent
"This is really important to us. Kent are a team on the up and they're an exciting side as well and certainly it won't be a walk over match. It's going to be tough and we're going to play with an intensity that we are required to play at an international level"
"We want to keep climbing up the ladder in international cricket. We are pretty focused on ourselves and the goals we've set as a team and hopefully if we tick all those boxes we will climb up the ladder and be a force to be reckoned with pretty soon"
Regarding if Darren Lehmann knew what was going on :-
"I'm not sure, I honestly couldn't tell you what happened there. I'm not a 100% sure of the circumstances of the plan so I can't comment on that"
