What's new

"We have to attack India tomorrow, we cannot sit back" : Mickey Arthur

Arthur is good for nothing ... Seeing as we went in with 2 real pacers (Amir & Hasan) and 1 leggie who is unproven against a potential Indian line up and they are dreaming of taking wickets by bowling Imad upfront with Amir wah re wah !!!

Perhaps the break will help sarfaraz regain his composure

It's too late now anyway, the new ball isn't new any more. In any case, the failure to back the new ball with slips is an ongoing tactic which Pakistan has employed for years now, so can't put it down to lack of composure. It's a deliberate DEFENSIVE tactic.

No way. In 2011 India got away to a very fast start . Afridi kept calm , bought himself on , took a wicket & managed to restrict India to 260 in the end .

Afridi didn't take a single wicket in the 2011 World Cup against us, and his tournament record against us is very poor overall.

Yes way.

Yes giving Imad Wasim the first six overs of the new ball is SOOO ATTACKING!!!

So far a horror show w.r.t strategy of both captain and coach.

Will need to deliver a miracle performance with the bat later.

I think he bowled well in the 2011 semi regardless of wicket Column

But yes he was a train wreck in ICC tournament matches vs India overall

None for 45 after 10 in that game. Nothing too special especially seeing 260 was the par score.

260 wasn't the par score

It was a 300+ wicket easily. Our bowling was brilliant to keep India to that score

Our batting bottled it as always (or wasn't much to begin with)

Looks like the tactics were 'defence is the best form of attack' by the Pakistan think tank.

Poorly worded . Afridi kept calm & wickets came . 260 was an easy chase against an average bowling line up but Pak blew it .

Both Warne and Wasim Akram expressing surprise that a left arm spinner who doesn't turn the ball was given 6 overs with the new ball. A very strange attacking tactic from the Pakistan think tank.

Poor captaincy, poor team selection, poor bowling by pacers. Dissapointed :(

Using amir and hasan as defensive options.
What absolute rubbish from the captain and coach .

What is this? What sort of attacking is this? Disappointing stuff.

So far defensive bowling with defensive field sets, followed by defensive batting. Yeah the change in mindset is there for everyone to see.

This is the "all out attack" we were promised

Was opening with Imad the attack? or making Haris/Junaid sit on the bench while Imad get tonked again and again was attack?

Hafeez 17 from 27 so far and getting his test opener partner to hit out instead....yeah that attacking mindset is really shocking Indian bowlers!

He iwas misquoted, he said "We have to sit back tomorrow, we cannot afford to attack"

A Pakistani "anchor" would probably end up achieving that SR towards the end of his knock, long after the inevitable demise of the incompetent blokes with the "licence to thrill". Team total would probably be a typical 236 (49.2).
Apologies if I appear a tad pessimistic. :hafeez :shezzy :azhar2

Looks like our opponents have done exactly this today. :yk
