With Naseem's injury is it time to suck it up, swallow our pride, and send out an SOS to Mohammad Amir ?
He's one of the few experienced ODI seamers we have, and has a good relationship with Mickey Arthur. His control can compliment the sometimes expensive Shaheen and Rauf.
Before people start firing back that he's a fixer - please. The vast majority here supported his return in 2016. I don't believe in double jeopardy.
Nor do I want to read names of some express pace sensation in their nappies we should call up. The ship has sailed for experiments unfortunately. Ihsanullah is injured while Dhani, Hasnain and Hasan Ali aren't good enough.
World Cups require proven performers and Amir's tournament record speaks for itself having played a huge role in our only two ICC titles since 1992.
It's not the most popular call but the most logical one.
What performance has Shadab shown in list A/ODI? He’s also playing leagues. To be honest its just wastage of time by discussing him. He took retirement from International Cricket himself. Unless until he himself come back and perform well in Domestic Cricket We don't need him. We need to set standards. Give Respect to domestic performers please
Unpopular opinion.
Fakhars innings won the CT17.
Pakistan had nearly 350 runs to play with.
Any bowler worth his salt (Shaheen, Naseem any other international bowler of repute) would bowl fearlessly with 350 on the board and be able to pick up wickets.
Still getting that banana inswing is pretty nice to see!!
Bhai, he has retired. he spits on the country. Out of all people i didnt expect this from youWith Naseem's injury is it time to suck it up, swallow our pride, and send out an SOS to Mohammad Amir ?

His fitness definitely will be questioned for sure, bowling 4 overs vs 10 and fielding 50 overs vs 20 overs is a big difference, regarding other points I have forgotten what was the quarrel, the only thing I remember is him complaining board isn't respecting him and he said he won't play test and then he was forgotten. Its been 4 years since Amir played any 50 over game and bowled 10 overs in a day. So joke is on those who think Amir will perform well, if selected for WC. With zero patriotism for his country and zero self respect personally, the dude will perhaps deliberately bowl bad to make some money
Amir getting that great banana swing.
He’s the answer!
In that case, he has to respond with humility too and not just behave like a diva who wants everything on his terms. With Naseem's injury is it time to suck it up, swallow our pride, and send out an SOS to Mohammad Amir ?

There's three aspects to this.Bhai, he has retired. he spits on the country. Out of all people i didnt expect this from you
I would rather have 5 faheem ashrafs than have a corrupt player like amir
Whats the worst that will happen? we will lose the world cup, so be it. Pakistan should not get that much desperate that they bring back a person who doesnt want anything to do with the country
Amir and Wahab 'gave us a dhoka' at the last minute, they decided they wouldn't play Tests 15-20 days before the tour.
Amir was above 18, he faked age and got away. He was an adult and yet he went to juvi and not jail. People who welcomed him back were wrong and they were also proven to be wrong when he whined about Misbah and than when Misbah left he had no other excuse to hang on.There's three aspects to this.
1) The crime
What Amir did was despicable. However I've always maintained from the trio - Amir was the only one PCB should rehabilitate due to his age. Butt was the captain and Asif already screwed up several times before the scandal. He served his time and I recall most fans here welcomed his return in 2016.
Only when his form declined and we had three shiny new toys in Shaheen, Naseem and Rauf - suddenly some of those same fans called him corrupt, fixer, unpatriotic etc as if they didn't know this in 2016 !
Now if you want to make a policy in future that anyone engaging in fixing should be life banned, I agree. But you cannot punish someone retrospectively.
2) The Workload
Let's give proper context. Cricinfo reported in March 2018 that Amir bowled 864 overs in all formats since returning - more than any Pakistani and 6th highest amongst pacers worldwide.
Amir couldn't bowl competitively for 5 years. Gym fitness is different from bowling fitness, and it's incredibly difficult for your bowling muscles to adjust to the strain after a long layoff. Therefore his workload required careful management.
That's why under Mickey Arthur he had an unwritten arrangement. He wouldn't play every Test, and eventually he retired from Tests on July 26th 2019. Note the date.
3) The Split
When Misbah and Waqar were appointed in 2019 - this arrangement was thrown out the window. Communication broke down. In Nov, Pakistan played 2 Tests in Australia debuting rookies Musa Khan and Naseem Shah. We got hammered.
In April 2020, Waqar made the comment:
Either Waqar was ignorant or a liar.
Later that year, Amir isn't picked for the Zimbabwe series nor in a 35 man squad for New Zealand. Meanwhile, Misbah also dropped Amir from Category C central contracts - mainly for white ball cricketers.
Let me state Amir's white-ball record in 2019, his last full year of international cricket:
ODIs - Avg 25.65; Economy 4.87.
T20s - Avg 26.42; Economy 7.81.
Now you cannot tell me Amir didn't merit a Cat C contract or a place in a 35 man squad ! Waqar then makes another false statement in Dec 2020 that "Amir didn't retire from Tests because of workload."
That was the last straw. Amir retired from internationals on 17th Dec 2020. The situation was entirely avoidable but for Misbah and Waqar's poor man management.
and will he turn his back once again to the country? YesCould he be a good pick for a tournament such as the World Cup? Yes
Will he be pumped up for it? Yes
Will Mickey Arthur want him in the squad? Yes
Will Babar Azam want him in the squad? I doubt it
Amir was above 18, he faked age and got away. He was an adult and yet he went to juvi and not jail. People who welcomed him back were wrong and they were also proven to be wrong when he whined about Misbah and than when Misbah left he had no other excuse to hang on.
His issue was that he wanted to play on his own terms. Basically bowl in England but not in UAE. Doesnt work that way.
Amir not bowling for 5 years wasnt PCB or coaches issue, it was his own issue. Maybe he shouldnt had sold the country out in the first place.
If Misbah and Waqar were at fault, than why didnt this guy come back after Misbah and Waqar left?
Here is the actual thing:
Cricketers from poor backgrounds have seen hard life. They dont even have air conditioner or good food. During his spot fixing ban Amir got lazy and adjusted to the comfortable life, because he still had money and was making money from different places.
When Amir's ban was about to end, he hired his previous coach in Rawalpindi for fulltime, and invited him to Lahore and also got him a contract in which his coach could move his club to two big grounds of Lahore. Later on Amir had a falling out with his coach.
Amir just didnt want to put the effort when he came back. Pakistan cricket doesnt run on his terms does it. Amir married his own Lawyer from England and he got settled there with her. He didnt want to play in UAE but wanted to be the first name for England or Australia. Doesnt work that way. He knew he was getting t20 contracts and he was all set for life. So what does he do? He makes the excuse that Misbah is bothering him and jumps ship.
When Misbah resigned from his position, Amir was exposed as it was evident after that Misbah wasnt the issue it was Amir.
My issue with Amir is he never accepted what he did. He never apologised, he never accepted that he was wrong for spot fixing and for running away from the Pakistan team. He always found a way to blame others. First it was Butt, than it was Misbah.
After all the stuff he did you want him back? He doesnt give two hoots to our domestic system.
And he wont come back, because this year he might get his UK passport, thus becoming eligible for IPL.
People dont change. Amir always loved money. So instead of going to him, why not bring one of the young guys who WANT TO PLAY FOR PAKISTAN
Who does Babar Azam want? Who cares who he wants?Could he be a good pick for a tournament such as the World Cup? Yes
Will he be pumped up for it? Yes
Will Mickey Arthur want him in the squad? Yes
Will Babar Azam want him in the squad? I doubt it
He is bowling right now in the CPL, getting some banana swing
