After winning the first two T20Is of the four-match series against West Indies, it was a chance for Pakistan to seal the series by winning the penultimate game as well and get an unassailable lead, but that was not the case as the home side cruised to a seven-wicket win in the third T20I in just 14.5 overs, to keep the series alive.

Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur believes that with the loss, Pakistan has put itself under pressure to win the series now.

“WE NEED TO FIND SOME BALANCE WITH OUR BATTING. FOR US, IT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO CLOSE OUT A SERIES AND WE DIDN’T DO THAT. WE’VE PUT OURSELVES UNDER PRESSURE, WE CAN’T LOSE THE SERIES, BUT STILL, WE’VE PUT OURSELVES UNDER PRESSURE FOR TOMORROW.,” ARTHUR SAID.

“IT WAS A REALLY GOOD PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN BABAR AND KAMRAN. THEY PLAYED REALLY WELL ON THIS WICKET. WE SET OURSELVES UP FOR 160-165 AT ONE STAGE AND THEN WE LOST SIX WICKETS FOR 45, AND THAT’S A MASSIVE MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB. IN THE LAST FOUR OVERS, WE ONLY GOT 19 [21], THOSE ARE STATS WE CAN’T AFFORD IN GAMES LIKE THESE. SO WE’LL CONTINUE WORKING ON THAT,” HE ADDED.

Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan has been the main trouble for the hosts, as the leg-spinner has been bothering West Indies batting line-up since the start of the series.

The 18-year-old spinner pouched a total of seven wickets in first two games to shatter the Windies batting line-up.

Evin Lewis, who played an innings of 91* in just 51 balls said that he did not have any plans for Shadab but tried to put the youngster under pressure.

“WE DON’T HAVE THOSE MASSIVE BOUNDARY-HITTERS, SO WE’VE GOT TO FIND ANOTHER WAY TO SCORE RUNS. TO DO THAT WE’VE GOT TO BE RUNNING HARD BETWEEN WICKETS AND WE’VE GOT TO BE PUTTING THE OPPOSITION UNDER PRESSURE THAT WAY.

“I’VE BEEN STAYING POSITIVE. THE FIRST TWO GAMES, YOU KNOW, RUN OUT, I HAD A LONG THINK LAST NIGHT. I DIDN’T PUT PRESSURE ON MYSELF. THAT’S HOW THE GAME GOES AT TIMES. I KNOW ONCE I BAT AT LEAST FIVE OVERS, I WILL GET THAT SCORE,” LEWIS SAID.

The fourth and the final T20I of the series will be played on Sunday, April 2 in Port of Spain where the home side will look to win the game and end the series with none of the team getting a lead.

Good for him to be upfront about lack of boundary hitters. Assuming that's a message for the selectors as well regarding the squad selected

absolutely right at least he does know we lack genuine hotters..not like wasim akram and co doing buk buk on ptv..

Inshallah we can improve, Kamran Akmal played well up the order and so did Babar, Babar needs to increase his SR a bit but good innings. Everyone else need to chip in. Shoaib Malik has been, Fakhar Zaman will hopefully step up and Sarfraz really needs to bat more aggressively and actually make a score.

Umar Akmal is our saviour. Bring him back.

I think people are getting confused by Lewis's comments and Arthurs comment about the last couple of paragraphs.

Lewis talks about lack of boundary hitters, and running hard between the wickets, not Arthur.

He is going to disappoint us most of the times as he has been doing for the Past 7 - 8 years.

I want Nabi Gul to get the chance for Peshawar in the upcoming Pentangular Cup. He showed the glimpses of big hitting in the recent Emirates T20 Cup. He is the big hitting prospect to be worked upon.

Sohail Khan in this t20 line up would have helped, he can hit some handy 6s, he has proved that many times, it was unfair to not select him, he's almost an allrounder by t20 standards

The only way for Pakistan to bring balance to the side is if Umar Akmal sits one side of the the seesaw and the rest of the team on the other side

Oh just shut up Arthur, you are just as stupid as Inzi, people need to realize once the squad has been selected its upto the coach and the captain to utilize the resources at one's disposal, Arthur has failed big time, how do you explain sending Shadab after Wahab and Tanvir :facepalm:

i would have umar in t20z. his role needs fo be defined. we dont want him to average 35 at 120. we want him to average 23 at 160.
just play ur damn shots and dont worry about the result. babr malika and sarf can be the ones to manage the game. everybody else nees to hit shots after a few sighters

It is idiocacy not to select him for shorter formats .
Even in OD he can bowl 8 - 10 overs a game , and can hit out towards the end.

Great post.

Arthur, Inzi, pcb and even our fans are clueless.

Mickey just doing blame games without realizing him and Sarfraz were extremely poor this series. No strategy, no batting order.

My work doesn't allow me to follow cricket closely these days, but i know where the malaise lies. Pak cricket is at a place where a fortunate stroke of serendipity is what can take itself out from the vortex of doom.

That's deep. :shafiq

How come you're so spot on Pak cricket? Judging from the flag you're a neighbor

My extreme love for underdogs have brought me close to Pakistan Cricket. Plus, we have some exceptional posters including yourself from whom i have learnt the vagaries of Pak cricket, where not a single young bowler or batsman is tried at the international stage and the verdict is out that, the individual is not international class, justifying the inclusion of repeated failures and that saddens my heart.

Yes i am an Indian.

true, but unfortunately Mickey don't like him, he might not get a chance in limited overs
