"We need to get to the point where India will ask us to play them" : PCB MD Wasim Khan

In your logic you say Pakistan becomes no1 and India beats everyone but is no2 but yet will claim as best side in world.

Any side cannot be no2 and claim as best side in world . I don't see that claim made by India ever.

India has been no1 side lot longer than Pakistan. There is nothing which Pakistan can achieve on the field which will make India run to it.

It's not going to happen any time soon, but assume Pak has become no 2 test and ODI side, and India is no 1 side. Do you not think India would want to test themselves against the no 2 side ?
Do you have no hope of India -Pak political relationships ever improving that India would want to play Pak to test themselves and the series would be very profitable for both boards?

They would love to play Pakistan even if Pakistan is no7 in world. But they are not playing for non cricketing reasons. I sincerely hope peace prevails in the region and both countries prosper.

I hope IK leads Pakistan to new era where peace rather than confrontation is utmost priority.

Well Imran Khan is no war mongeror, he even wanted peace with Taliban who have been causing terrorism in Pakistan for very long time. So as long as both countries reciprocate each othets positive steps there will be good relationship one day.

They are saying they want to improve the Pakistan team to such an extent that India would see it as beneficial to play us in a dhamakdaar series like e.g. 2004 and 2006 when we were both pretty equal..If Pakistan can get its act together and do something big in ODI's and tests, the next India vs Pakistan series will be the biggest series in cricket..The media, social media, promotion will go through the roof.

The problem is India's policy of isolating Pakistan politically. That is now looking like a policy that has run its course and India will (inmho) look to change its policy for the next five to ten years..

The entire world wants to see a IND-PAK series, regadarless of where PAK stands in world cricket today. Only people blocking the route is the politicians.

not true, we want peace in the region before cricket.

Peace is a bit overrated if you ask me

There has never been peace in this world, and there never will be. as long as there are humans on the planet, there will be wars, killings, innocent dieing.

Let humans do what they do and lets keep sports seperate from all this.

Not really, if you are honest then you just want destruction in a particular "region" and you are dissatisfied when things go right. For instance, PCB bringing in an outsider with cricket administration experience from UK.

I hope IK leads Pakistan to new era where peace rather than confrontation is utmost priority.

this sentence is doing a lot of heavy lifting. ik cant help if the neighbors mismanage their economic policies while governing and then have to roll-out the pakistan bit to win elections. i mean, how difficult is it to keep the farmer's happy.

What does political view of yours has to do with sports? No one is saying play the series in pakistan. If anything, play it in UAE or a neutral venue for all that matter. Regardless of where it's being played, it will generate massive interest/income for both parties.

So, Pak literally wants to have cricket with INDIA but cant say directly after what happend to their compensation claim. England are happy not playing Zimbawe, same with India not playing Pak. If India do not want to play with Pak then why chase India for it every now and then. Have some dignity and self- respect. Now, such is the situation that even if Indian Govt. allows for it then the BCCI wont agree for it as it was dragged to ICC dispute panel and they are so angry about it. They have already packed their cricketing calendar with other teams except Pak till 2023. So, it already reflects what they think about an Indo- Pak series. So there are two hurdles before an INDO-PAK cricket series and neither of them is going to make a way in distant future. One hurdle has been created by PCB itself by dragging BCCI to ICC dispute forum. They didnt help their cause by doing it as there was already an obstacle due to the political relation between the two countries. Now they have two to deal with. Ganju Baba @Baanke jee jadaja Varun jee have told it the same way as BCCI person told in the interview. So everyone knows the bone of contention. But Wasim Khan missed this very simple thing that its not the performance of the Pak team rather its the political relation which is way above cricket. Thats why the BCCI person got miffed and used 'This Wasim Khan Chap'. If political relations are good then India will play Pak even if Pak is ranked 9th or 10th across formats becoz ppl dont care about the rankings if its IND vs PAK. How tough is it to understand such a simple thing ? Perhaps Wasim Khan wanted to give something to the journalists and that could create headlines and it can be only possible if it involves India. Becoz reality is far away from what he said.

India plays cricket with every other cricket playing nation, including two other neighbors. Gone are the days when one could call India names (and more) and get away with that. Be reconciled to the fact that Indians will play only with those countries with whom they have normal ties.

Guys, keep the posts relevant to this thread. Please do not discuss india-pakistan politics on here.

Sports are played and watched by human beings with feelings.

That is not discrimination, Australia does not want Bangladesh to tour them and they don't want to tour Pakistan .It is their choice, how can you fault Australia.Bangldesh touring them would have massive financial losses for them.

This is not some business establishment in one country which opens doors for one type of customers and shuts its doors to other races.

This involves one country and its govt has every right to do what is good for their people and its sports bodies.

Refusing to tour a country out of safety concerns is not a problem. Each team and every individual has the right to refuse visiting a country that they feel is unsafe. Discrimination is the BCCI and by extension, the Indian government, refusing to play any cricket matches with Pakistan. Stop being gullible, you know quite well what this is.

It's a strong PR move by Wasim Khan. PCB's image took a hit after the lawsuit. It was seen as a last ditch effort out of desperation. Wasim, through his statement has implied that PCB still has control of the situation and can make things happen provided certain conditions are met. Those conditions are again not GOI and not GOP but PCB and it's cricket. It's a subtle dig indicating that politics have no place in sport and it's the tangibles like performance or image that dictate the series. BCCI was clearly irked by his comments and Wasim got just the response he wanted. This is what's called Suave. Get ready for some polished banter and politics going forward. I fully expect PCB's representation and stance in ICC to change in the future.

Aren’t we already at that point? India asks us to play at their convenience, when it benefits them. Probably because we always say yes.

Yes, there will be only banters and politics but not cricket.

In the meantime, PCB has paid $1.5 million as legal costs to the BCCI from the disputes resolution proceedings that India won.

India is refusing matches with Pakistan for one reason and everyone knows that reason. I am not being gullible, you are being gullible to say sports and life are seperate.

Paying the money and closing that chapter is a smart move instead of dragging it on. The dialogue should happen on equal terms. It appears Pakistan has a new plan with new personnel.

New plan should be thrown into garbage now. Personnel will keep changing but some things never change. PCB should forget having any cricketing affairs with BCCI in present scenario. Rest assured that there will no Indo-Pak bilateral cricket in distant future.

Put money where mouth is and forfeit WC match as well.
