Rashid Latif quotes:

PSL

"We have such a big cricket board, with so many people working for it and then we have Sarfaraz Ahmed who has given so much for Pakistan cricket but they couldn't make arrangements for him to fly out?"

"There are some groups at play amongst the top PCB management (those in UAE at the moment); Seems that Zakir has been side-lined as has been Babar Hamid and there seems to be some divisions"

"In the first edition of PSL, they hired American Express people to handle the travel arrangements from Pakistan - that doesn't seem to be happening now; This should be the case as this is a matter of reputation for Pakistan"

"Ehsan Mani has run the ICC but I don't know how they made this mistake of making Abu Dhabi the venue for PSL; We should have left Pakistan for PSL only if all doors for holding this tournament are closed; Infection ratios are low in Islamabad/Pindi so we took the decision too early - maybe under pressure from franchises; Once we leave our own home turf things go out of our control"

Ehsan Mani resignation rumours

"My aim was to get Ehsan Mani in front of Pakistan media; Because whenever he does an interview he contacts Indian media; The amazing thing is that PCB did not make a media release - he had to come out himself and deny it but I feel that there is something afoot here"

On Amir/Asif etc

"I wont blame Amir, Asif or Salman, Sharjeel or Khalid - I will blame those who made the rules for punishments for such offences; Contrast that to South Africa where they have set a punishment for 25 years or so"

Can't really argue with the premise that the haste with which the PCB relocated the tournament to the UAE was a panic-stricken decision. The PCB isn't professional enough to be able to implement contingency plans at such scale so seamlessly.

What are PCB supposed to do when Sarfraz who has iqama in UAE applied for the work visa? UAE government is not a bunch of lallu punjoos who would avoid such issues and then give visas like boxes of tomatoes.

I agree the PCB should have hosted the tournament in Pakistan. The problem was the govt advised against it and the franchises wanted the tournament to be shifted to Abu Dhabi.

Latif just talks. Wasim Khan revealed he was one of the players whom the PCB approached for the CS role but he turned it down as he was uncomfortable with the scrutiny of the role

Easy to criticize - the backlash on having it in Pakistan was huge and now people complaining? hindsight is a great thing!

It was not wrong to **** it to UAE but PCB didn't do their homework and tried to rush in things. They should have announced that they were hosting it in UAE when they first announced resumption.

Reality is covid-19 to be blamed and nothing else.
PCB like every other person or organisation is learning. Not advocating inefficiency but it takes time to shuffle and things will be amiss sometimes.

The lack of movement for PSL in Abu Dhabi is a major concern and Latif's point could well be proven to be a valid one.

Nah, he just sour over Safraz. I can't believe people support regionism over the country.

Easy to criticize when people are doing the hard work. At this time, every one should support pCB & do these analysis later. Covid is really tough for each board when you've people coming from across the world.

Respect for what he did for the team but talking as if he is expert in bio bubbles ..

According to some reports, Rashid Latif banned from Karachi Press Club today for his use of "inappropriate" language directed at journalists!

Why doesn't he do the show on PTV anymore?

Rashid Latif is all talk, bark and no action. This is a guy who after years of behaving and preaching a holier than thou attitude had his career terminated after cheating by claiming a clear dropped catch. He has also been offered a powerful role in the PCB 3 times and he has rejected it out of fear of finally being held accountable and whether he could actually walk the talk. Don't take people like this seriously one bit.

You show Rashid Latif a black car and he could argue that it's white.

The guy just lives to challenge the popular opinion, regardless of its merit. He loves to play the rebel!

Zaka agreeing with Rashid:

LAHORE: Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf says all the matches involving Pakistan including the Pakistan Super League (PSL) should be held in the home country, otherwise, Pakistan cricket will again go back to dark days.

“The credit goes to army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa for ending terrorism and making international cricket viable and playable in Pakistan. However, by shifting the matches [from Pakistan] to the UAE, all good work done in the past in this regard to bring cricket back to Pakistan will be wasted,” Zaka said while talking to Dawn late on Wednesday.

The former chairman said instead of moving forward with regards to bringing cricket back to Pakistan, the PCB was going backwards by holding PSL games abroad.

“Moving the PSL to the UAE must have increased the event cost manifold plus there is a possibility of incurring financial losses, which ultimately PCB’s exchequer will bear,” he said.

Zaka said under strict SOPs, the PCB could organise the PSL show in Pakistan noting it by now must have learnt the lessons after committing mistakes in February-March by not properly implementing the Covid-19 SOPs during the Karachi leg of the league.

He continued, “The PCB has invited New Zealand, Australia and England [for bilateral series] during the coming season. By hosting the remaining PSL matches in Pakistan it could prove the utility and viability of its bio-secure bubble system and the country’s ability to hold international matches even during the pandemic.”

While lamenting that the current situation of the PSL was not good for its branding, Zaka said the PCB should have adopted a better line of action for organising the remaining 20 matches without any hassle by waiting for the NCOC permission to hold the games in Karachi as per the previous plan.

“Now the latest situation has emerged due to Abu Dhabi health ministry’s decision which is not good as its objections cannot be removed in two days time and the PCB looks helpless as nothing is in its control,” Zaka regretted.

These idiots do realize that this is the PSL. A multinational tournament with multiple moving parts which takes time to organize? This isn’t the Ramadan T20 Tourney.

Rashid makes no sense 80% of the time which is still better than Showcause Actor.

He has become very much biased and is anti everything these days.
