[VIDEO] 90s players left no legacy for Pakistan Cricket, claim Mohammad Hafeez and Rashid Latif

IMO there is no Shame in being Steyn’s bunny. Guy at his peak was a phenomenal bowler

But getting out cheaply to one bowler is always embarrassing.

If you score runs and still keep getting out to their best bowler it’s not that embarrassing.

90s crickets of India created one of the worst legacies of Indians cricket yet Indian team is at the top.

90s cricketers of SL created their best legacy yet SL cricket is nearing towards being a minnow.

90s cricketers of WI had a decent legacy yet WI cricket is at the bottom.

90s cricketers of Zimbabwe had their best ever team yet Zimbabwe cricket is nearly finished.

Hafeez, Malik are blaming everyone else just to keep getting a paycheck from the people who ruined Pakistani cricket.

Hafeez and Shoaib Malik and others who hide the truth behind demise of Pakistani cricket are equally to be blamed along with the beaurocracy, politicians and Pakistani army.

All these are tactics.. I still don't understand how is this legacy thing relevant to the cricket team today.
They don't play modern cricket. Lose from winning situations. Fix that instead of talking about past.

He was a good player and has some memorable performances. But to have a legacy, you need achieve something big orc something unique, which he didn't.

Pakistan last won a test in Australia in 1995. Ijaz Ahmed scored a century against McGrath Warne and McDermott. Rest none of the pakistani batsmen scored even 40 in the first innings.

Did Wasim, Waqar make any comment on this in the Pavilion show today

The current players are content on playing for money, rather than improving themselves at international level.

I guess the 90s players did leave some kind of legacy behind.

Waiting to hear more from Hafeez after Virat and Rohit lead Bharat to a trophy. Leaving a lasting legacy

90s players were daler and jaanbaz.. Not these dancing Pakistani kittens we see today @Rana
This is why a lot of Pakistani fans are still hung up on those guys. They did have that flair & charisma. Easy on the eyes. Unlike the present generation

However on the other side - they also indulged in a lot of dark arts - match fixing, infighting, dressing room drama, doping , drugs - which set a bad example for future generations and created a wrong legacy. The only good thing for them was there was no internet & social media in the 90s - hence a lot of stuff got brushed under the carpet. Like Wasim was caught snorting coke on that 1993 West Indies tour. If it happened in 2025 he wud have faced a lengthy suspension

Wasim Akram also wud have faced a lot more scrutiny over Qayyum report if it happened in this era of twitter & podcasts ! Inzimam wud have faced a lot more flak for his obesity like a Sharjeel Khan or Azam Khan. Waqar Younis wud have faced more scrutiny over ball tampering. Then u had Shoaib AKhtar - who was an accident waiting to happen. Don't think he wud have got away so lightly like he often did in that era

Also top players in that era like Wasim & Waqar wud often skip playing tournaments for Pakistan to play for county cricket. Imagine doing that today - they wud faced lot more heat from the fans

In aw ay the post 2004 generation played with lot more dedication & discipline

Pakistan did not win in Australia , lost badly throughout.
No Pakistan did won ODI tri series in Australia in 96-97 against Australia & West Indies. Yes, Pakistan lost every single test match in Australia since 1999 but in 1995-96 they lost by margin of 2-1 and before that they used to at least draw lot of test matches in Australia.

Akhtar did shut him up though:

“The 90s players won those 73 ODIs against India”.

What kind of legacy is this?

You need to win ICC events. 90s was our golden generation but they won nothing

Hafeez is spot on

Typical Pakistan fans

Can't accept the bitter truth spoken by Hafeez so try to undermine him by bringing his average career

I am talking about test cricket . Pakistan has lost consecutive test matches there .

Not holding a brief for Hafeez who's been one of the most self-serving, cowardly cricketer ever or even his opportunistic arguments.

But legacy thing is of course relevant because it sets up a benchmark and expectation. BeeDee fans wash off humiliation after humiliation in world events far more effortlessly than Lankan fans. And that's squarely down to the legacy of the Lankan teams of past.

The honest whistleblower Rashid Latif. The saint of the 90s
Rashid Latif suffers from inferiority complex. He has no achievements to highlight that's why he speaks all negative about his 90s colleagues who have performed better than him. The fact is Wasim, Waqar, Saeed Anwar, Inzamam, Yousuf are established legends and guys like Ijaz Ahmad, Aqib Javed, Shoaib Akhtar, Moin Khan won many matches on their day. Moin was always better batsman than Rashid

Hafeez had a long international career, and he must be reminded about his own performances when he speaks non-sense. I can bet Hafeez himself cannot list out his own match winning performances despite playing for around 18 years

One performance is enough to have a legacy? Then someone like Dilip Vengsarkar would also have a legacy for his brilliance on Eng tour in 1986.

Rashid Latif speaking during an interview:

"I have started writing a book. Match-fixing was at its peak in the '90s. I will expose everything - how fixing happened and who was involved."

"I will disclose what went on in '90s cricket and also reveal which former captain submitted a presidential pardon request."

I DONT CARE ABOUT HAFEEZ'S CAREER!

Fact is the 90s team was Pakistan's golden generation and they failed miserably!

Should have won both the 96 and 99 world cup but they were failures.

Both 96 & 99 WCs were successful campaign although the Pakistan didn't end up winning either. In 96 WC Pak had one bad game against India in QF & in 99 it was only final. Aus also lost QF in 2011 and were out of the tournament. There is no guarantee that ultimate victory in those tournaments would have lifted Pakistan cricket. NZ & SA never won WC but they were consistent mostly.

A country like India lost 3 WC after 2011 although they always have a great ODI team.

By the way which country blames it's players of 90s, 80s, 70s for their current failures? Pakistan current players are enjoying better facilities and set up in every aspect than past players and still they complain and don't perform. Hafeez is a failed cricketer and he should ashamed of his own career rather blaming 90s or 80s players

Shoaib Akhtar, throughout the previous episodes of that show, kept hyping himself and his 90s teammates, repeatedly saying things like, "Where is the next Razzaq? Where is the next Akhtar (himself)? Where is the next..." After hearing this for several episodes, Shoaib Malik finally responded lightheartedly, saying, "By the way, we won [XXX] and [XX] tournaments, which your side never did." He laughed and immediately apologized, saying it was just a joke. That moment showed Malik as a level-headed guy.

However, Hafeez had clearly been holding back his frustration for a long time. He found this one opening and just exploded—lol.

After watching all those episodes, I can understand Hafeez’s frustration. But his point would have hit even harder if he had pretended to be joking rather than saying it seriously. At the same time, Akhtar needs to realize that subsequent Pakistani teams have also achieved great things—his generation wasn’t the last batch of heroes for Pakistan.

From what i am hearing, more and more Pakistanis are attributing whatever success the 90s team had to ball tampering. Never have i ever seen so many Pakistani cricket fans talk about it and bring down the legacy of the Ws and other pacers like that.

Inzaman-ul-Haq speaking during a media interaction in Lahore:

"If we look at the players from the 90s generation, Pakistan cricket would lose its strength without them. If you look at players who have won something after the 90s, they are also from the 90s batch."

"The performers were from the 90s. The era of the 90s has given us a lot. No one should come up with statements like this. I don't know what he said exactly. Everyone knows what the 90s cricketers have done for the country."

"We are not working in the right direction and making the wrong calls in many areas. I think that the cricket board now needs to learn from its mistakes and not repeat the same mistakes we have made in the last two years."

"In the past two years, the performance of the Pakistan team has been declining. If we don't work in the right direction, we will continue to fall further. We need to sit down and think about where the mistakes are being made."

At least they were talented cricketers, they gave hope to fans that they could something special. Today generation cricketers are uninspiring and mediocre. There is no fun watching them.

That was pure sad. RL the sly cheater. Robbed BD a test win that match. That would’ve done BD cricket world of good winning a test match away, against a big team.

Mohammad Hafeez has explained his earlier statement available in OP

india's ex players are preparing the next generation.. Pakistan's ex players just crib and abuse current generation. This is the difference.
