BoG member Nauman Butt speaking to the press:

"When we all reviewed the constitution of the Pakistan Cricket Board, we found that there is no place for an MD"

"Its clearly stated that the chairman shall be CEO and the the next post after him is COO"

"We didnt boycott the session, instead we passed a resolution by show of hands and told him that your agenda which is more than 145 pages, we unanimously rejected it"

"We will not accept something which is against the constitution"

"On top of that, on behalf of our departmental teams and our regional teams and in a country where every child plays cricket, we will not anyone play with their future"

"We said lets meet again based on our recommendations on 30th April but they said this wont work"

"We said we respect you as an elder but we will not tolerate such an attitude towards us"

"As far as the appointment of MD is concerned, we asked for that to be declared null and void and a high level inquiry be held for all the salary that has been given to him"

"and to ask why Mr. Mani used his privileges in this way"

"Members of the BoG are the custodians and protectors of the PCB"

"The Chairman of the PCB is answerable to the BoG"

"Mr. Mani hasnt brought in one person but 4 people, so this will be discussed to ask how this happened without any approval"

"The total salary is PKR 50 Lakhs so we wont allow the PCB to be bankrupted like this"

"The same money could be spent on our cricketers or grounds in Balochistan so that good talent comes out of this area"

"Only a proposal was made for the position of MD in the previous BoG meeting and it was said that the confirmation would be made in this meeting"

"Mr. Mani in this age should tell the truth and we pray that this will be useful for him in this world"

Sooner we get rid of such jaahil people from the BoG the better.

The exact same legal loopholes the likes of the Sharif's, the Bhutto's, the Zardari's exploit

Mani should give the the current COO the boot and appoint Wasim the COO. Lets see them fight that.

Subhan Ahmad is here to stay. He is next Intikhab Alam for PCB. And now the dirty war begins. Hold ur seats.

Let's hope that we can get rid of these parasites one and for all.

Salary 50 lakh per year or per month? Curious about Wasim Khan's compensation package.

It's around 22 I believe . . but to get competent people to come work for you, you have to pay them well . . anywhere in the world, thats the philosophy.

Mani sb got played! Supposedly, they agreed and 'minuted' in previous meetings that the MD post will be created, job description was finalized, etc. etc . .

They interviewed dozens of candidates and finalized this guy . .

He has been at the job for a couple of months . . and no one has said a word . .
Then the guy gets into his work and obviously the Mafias feel threatened . . and now they are saying . . ohh!! This is unconstitutional . .

So my question to Mani sb . . Were you actually this naive? You didn't actually make the constitutional amendment prior to bringing him here? You JUST THOUGHT that once he is here and he gets into his work . . in a future board meeting, we will just get done with the formalities and create the position in the constitution?

Puh Leeezz!! Like I said . . Mani sb got played!

these bog leaches should be booted out ..... they dont want any changes to improve pakistan cricket they want status quo to stay so they stay in their positions ...... they can see the writing on the wall and are now crying babies.....

I am very curious. People are calling BoG dinosaurs and leeches etc. Is it really the case?

I for one had never really paid attention to them until this meeting - so am clueless.

But what do we know of them? What about their performance so far? Is it they or is it the CEOs who have been behind Pakistan's bad performance? What is Subhan doing and why is he irreplaceable?

I am really curious to hear from someone who knows them inside out and actually charts BoG performance in the last 5-10 years.

I think we don't need generics but specfics here from someone in the know. Anyone can name call.

And we were impressed that Wasim Khan has an EMBA (Executive MBA) and also an MBE, well so have a few of these guys from the PCB board of governors , except in their case EMBA and MBE stand for following:

EMBA = Extremely Mediocre Bureaucrats & Administrators
MBE (of Pakistan) = Most Biased & Envious (of Pakistan)

:)

Wasim Khan will never be accepted by some of these guys at the PCB.

They will see him as an outsider and be suspicious of him.

The fact is that they fear that this guy will stop all the corruption and the unprofessionalism which is at the core of the PCB.

Indeed, and there's a very good article here from the Harvard Business Review on the core reasons people are resistant to change in any organization which I'm sure Wasim Khan through his MBA would be well educated on and so is well prepared hopefully :) .. worth a read: https://hbr.org/2012/09/ten-reasons-people-resist-chang

I think this paragraph in particular applies well to these gentlemen in the PCB governing body:

By definition, change is a departure from the past. Those people associated with the last version — the one that didn’t work, or the one that’s being superseded — are likely to be defensive about it. When change involves a big shift of strategic direction, the people responsible for the previous direction dread the perception that they must have been wrong.

A very interesting read MK.

This is what Wasim Khan said to PakPassion before he took on the role of MD:

I'm passionate about making the PCB the most respected cricket board in the world in the next few years. If that's an aim of ours, we can start to look at how we define that and to look at the things that we need to do to achieve this goal. What we need are people who are forward-thinking, people who are willing to change for the good and people who are going to get on the bus with us and want to move in the same direction. I know the culture is different and I know things operate in different ways but fundamentally improvement and getting better are universal objectives. I don't think anybody would disagree that there are things that could be better and that there are things that we should be doing better. As long as you have an open mindset as much as possible, then you can reassure people that we are doing things for the right reasons and we are moving in the right direction. People will then move with you and I think that is the most important thing.

I'm not here to operate as a dictator, my style is very collaborative, but we are also going to have to make some tough decisions if we are going to move PCB in the right direction and change the landscape of cricket in Pakistan
and that is going to require work from a lot of people in the country. The cricket committee has been set up with some excellent people who will make recommendations and there is a good coaching infrastructure working with the national players at the moment. So, there are so many good things that are in place, but there may also be some things that we only need to tinker with. In addition, there might be some things where we need wholesale changes in and we may have some things in between. These are areas that, bit by bit, I will get the opportunity to look at and decide as to which of these things we need to do, and how quickly.

Just hoping that Wasim Khan gets backed publicly by Imran Khan himself now to strengthen his position, after the way he's been unfairly targeted by sections of the local media and these PhDs (Pathetic & Hopeless Dinosaurs) within the PCB governing body.

Imran Khan is pivotal in this now.

He needs to back his man Wasim Khan publicly or he's cannon fodder for the dinosaurs.

Mr Numan Butt reported for misconduct

Lahore, 18 April 2019:

The Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman on Wednesday received a complaint from a member of its Board of Governors (BoG) against his fellow member Mr Numan Butt for misconduct.

As such, and as per Article 10(6) of the PCB Constitution, PCB Chairman Mr Ehsan Mani has referred the complaint to an independent adjudicator, Mr Justice (retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan. This means as per Article 10(7) and pending the outcome of the proceedings, Mr Numan Butt will not be allowed to attend any BoG and Committee meetings.

Article 10(7) of the PCB Constitution reads as: “Any member, against whom a complaint is referred by the Chairman to the adjudicator, shall not be allowed to attend any meeting of the Board of Governors or any committee during the pendency of proceedings before the adjudicator.”

In the complaint, the BoG member alleged Mr Numan Butt with sharing confidential meeting documents with the media; using inappropriate and highly objectionable language against Chairman PCB; criticising the PCB and it’s management/policies through dishonest statements; making false accusations; carrying out misrepresentation of facts; and blatantly acting against the interests of Pakistan cricket.

The complainant has also alleged Mr Numan Butt for violating provisions of Article 19 of the PCB Constitution, which relates to Undertaking by Full Members and Associate Members of the General Body, which reads as:

a) he shall, strive to achieve the objectives and purpose of the Board;

b) he shall, abide by this Constitution, Rules, Regulations and any directives formulated or issued, from time to time, by the Board;

c) he shall, not criticize the Pakistan Cricket Board or any of its functionaries or Member(s), Players and Officials on any media platform;

d) he shall, not hold any press conference, meeting, protest or participate in any procession, display any placard etc. against the Board and its officials at any private or public venue, individually or collectively;

e) he shall abide by the directions of the Board;…”.

Superb!

I am sure Mr Butt given his in depth knowledge of the 'constitution' of the PCB as demonstrated in his press conference yesterday, will fully comply with Article 10(7) of the PCB Constitution. :)

Dissolving the PCB and setting up a new body is the best and only option....

It would certainly make sense - dissolve the PCB and its useless constitution which is clearly not functional, when the interests of BoG members comes ahead of interest of cricket.

Make a separate body called CCP (Cricket Council of Pakistan) and keep it clean and simple - Wasim Khan as MD/CEO, Wasim Akram as Director of Cricket, Mudassar Nazar as Director of Academies, Ehsan Mani as Treasurer..

Interestingly it was the same Nauman Butt, in his capacity as Sialkot Cricket Association President who appointed Mohammed Asif as captain of the Sialkot team following Asif's comeback after his ban for spot fixing in 2016:

https://www.dawn.com/news/1243096

One of the good decisions, and on merit.

Asif is a cricketing genius, and a top bowler. Who wouldn't want him? There were no issues after the ban was over.

If not for these leeches and geedar, we’d have a normal functioning system and be a quality team once we got our structure at home organized

PCB BOG member, President Sialkot Region, Nauman Butt will appear before independent adjudicator tomorrow at National Cricket Academy due to misconduct. Nauman butt with five other BOG members rejected Proposed Domestic Structure.

LAHORE: Noman Butt, who has been under spotlight since boycotting the Board of Governors meeting in Quetta in April this year, heaved a sigh of relief on Saturday when his election as the president of Sialkot Region was cleared by the Pakistan Cricket Board adjudicator who rejected Zulfiqar Malik’s appeal.

Zulfiqar, also a former president of the Sialkot Cricket Association, had raised some objections in his appeal against the election as a result of which Noman and Naeem Ahmed were elected as president and secretary of the region, respectively. Zulfiqar challenged the PCB notification, dated 8.2.2019, which declared them successful candidates.

But PCB adjudicator retired Justice Mian Hamid Farooq rejected it for filing the appeal after passing out considerable time, mentioned in the constitution.

Noman, who has just passed through heart surgery in Lahore, however, is still suspended as member of the Board of Governors. Among the five members who protested at the BoG meeting in Quetta, Noman is the only one who remained steadfast over the stance of boycotting the said meeting at which the PCB wanted to get its proposed changes in the domestic cricket set-up approved. Under the proposed set-up, departmental cricket outfits will cease to exist and region-based system comprising six provincial teams will constitute domestic game in the country.

Later, four BoG members — Abdullah Shahrez Rokhari (Lahore), Ayaz Butt (KRL), Kabir Khan (Fata) and Shah Dost (Quetta) — settled their issues with the PCB.

Numan dubs 2019 as worst year for Pak cricket

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Governing Board member Numan Butt has dubbed 2019 as worst year for Pakistan cricket and especially for the players.

Talking to The Nation, Numan, who is also President of Sialkot Regional Cricket Association, said: “I am highly surprised to read the statement of PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani, where he described 2019 as one of the best years for Pakistan cricket. In fact, Pakistan cricket team’s performance went from bad to worst in all the three formats. Only in T20 format, it is showing encouraging signs and is number one in ICC T20 rankings, but it also lost T20 matches badly.

“To further expose the PCB chief’s claims, a highly below-par Sri Lankan team inflicted 3-0 whitewash on Pakistan team at their home soil. The World Cup 2019 was also not a memorable one for the national team as they lost badly to the West Indies and they could not improve their run-rate, which cost them very dearly during the last crucial stage,” he added.

Numan said that Australia and New Zealand bashed the national team badly and also exposed Misbah’s three roles, who doesn’t deserve such high-profile posts. “The way 2019 first class cricket was played, it was total failure form PCB’s part as only bowlers dominated while Islamabad and Pindi Stadium venues were badly ignored for first class matches, which were previously hub of almost 60 percent of Pakistan cricket, and it clearly indicates the worst type of nepotism.

“The batsmen totally dominated the 2019 first class season, while bowlers badly struggled on slow tracks. It will hurt Pakistan cricket in the years to come. The departmental cricket closure made thousands of cricketers jobless. The cricket standard also comes down on rapid basis and if things go on in the same way, Pakistan team will be struggling against even low-ranked teams,” he added.

He said he is also the victim of the PCB liking and disliking. “I have just raised obsessed voice and stood for justice, which is not a crime. In fact, If PCB chief Ehsan Mani and CEO Wasim Khan take my advice seriously, I am indeed helping them as well as Pakistan cricket and cricketers. I have worked really hard to take Sialkot region cricket to new heights and I want to see Pakistan cricket flourish.

“But the PCB high-ups look highly confused as they don’t have any plan. The entire club cricket comes to stand still as regions are not operational. The PCB has imposed ban on holding club tournaments throughout the country, so the question here arises that where the young talent will go now and where they can fulfill their dreams of playing cricket and emerging as national stars. The PCB must not deprive the youngsters of their due rights.”

He said the PCB has brought curators from abroad without any need. “Our own grounds men are better than foreign curators. The step is only meant to oblige yes men. The local top curators are jobless and are being sent home while in the name of foreign top curators, huge amount of national kitty is being wasted.

The foreigners were adjusted in the PCB by introducing its undemocratic constitution. I am sure PM Imran Khan will take into account my genuine concerns and take strict action in the best interest of cricket and players,” Numan concluded.

When did we play New Zealand in 2019 other than the world cup match?

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday restrained Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed independent adjudicator to hold inquiry into allegations of misconduct against suspended member of board governing body.

The court was hearing the petition of Numan Butt who was suspended by PCB chairman Ehsan Mani last year on the charges of misconduct.

The petitioner through his counsel pleaded that he was elected member of Board of Governors (BoG) but chairman illegally suspended him and barred from attending meetings. Later, he said, chairman appointed a retired LHC judge as independent adjudicator. He pointed out that he was being punished for opposing the appointment of Wasim Khan as board's managing director.

He said he reviewed the constitution and there was no place for MD post. However, chairman on a complaint from another BoG's member, suspended him and stopped from participating in the meetings. He requested the court to set aside his suspending order and bar adjudicator to hold inquiry against him. After hearing initial arguments, Justice Shamas Mehmood Mirza stopped Independent adjudicator to probe against petitioner and sought reply from PCB.

Former High Court judge disqualifies BoG member Nauman Butt for three years for misconduct

Lahore, 20 July 2020:

Former Lahore High Court Justice Mr Justice (retd) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan has found Mr Nauman Butt guilty of violating his undertaking and Code of Ethics for BoG Members. As a result of the determination of misconduct by Mr Nauman Butt, he is barred from contesting elections or holding any office with any affiliated unit of the Pakistan Cricket Board for three years.

In his 24-page judgement, Mr Justice (retd) Chauhan, who was the Independent Adjudicator, wrote: “The complainant (Mr Asad Ali Khan, BoG member) and the PCB have succeeded in proving / establishing that on 17 April 2019, the respondent (Mr Nauman Butt) had violated the Code of Ethics applicable to the Members of the BoG, PCB.

“He disrupted the 53rd BoG meeting and did not allow the BoG to proceed with its agenda for that meeting.

“It is established on record that holding press conference by the respondent, otherwise, also in violation of the undertaking given under Para 18 of the PCB Constitution and Para 5.1 of the Model Constitution of the Regional Cricket Association.

“The Respondent also violated the bye-laws of the PCB by showing confidential documents to media.

“He is found to have violated the Constitution, Rules (Code of Ethics), undertaking … and … shall deemed to be immediately disqualified and ceased to be an office-bearer / Member of the Association. He is also barred for three years from contesting elections or becoming a member, office-bearer of any association, club, organization, managed, monitored, controlled or affiliated to the Board.”

LAHORE: Nauman Butt, the banned member of the Board of Governors of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has criticised the decision of independent adjudicator retired Justice Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan of suspending him for three years under a code of conduct and rules violation.

According to the adjudicator’s judgement announced on Monday, Nauman is barred from contesting elections of any cricket association or taking up any role in cricket activities during the ban period of three years.

“On Monday, the independent adjudicator sabotaged the constitution and law by banning me for three years,” Nauman said in a press statement issued on Tuesday.

“My mistake was only that during a BoG meeting held in Quetta in April 2019, I presented a resolution to save the future of players. I will do this mistake again and again,” he vowed.

“After suspending me the PCB has successfully destroyed cricket as no game is being played at regional, departmental or club level. But I will fight my case in the court of law, with full belief that the courts will do justice with me,” he said.

Nauman said though he had not received a detailed judgment of the adjudicator yet he was in contact with his legal team and after receiving the judgment he would take his future course of action.

Meanwhile, Nauman’s legal adviser Shaigan Ijaz alleged that the decision of the adjudicator was unilateral, saying he did not plead his final arguments before the decision was announced.

LAHORE -Former Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Governing Board member Nouman Butt has lauded the vision and mission of new PCB Chairman saying Ramiz Raja needs to take bold decisions regarding grassroots cricket, that will help him take Pakistan cricket to new heights. Nouman Butt, who is also president of Sialkot Regional Cricket Association (SRCA), said:

“The regional chiefs and club cricket organizers are very happy with the bold statement of new PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja regarding focus on improvement of grassroots cricket and honouring the unsung heroes of the country.

“It is, in fact, our victory, who are serving Pakistan cricket day in day out, and now we need to be honoured in a trend-setting manner, so that we get further motivation to serve the game in a better way.”

He said club cricket is a nursery, which produces future stars and many greats of Pakistan cricket were produced by such nurseries.

“But unfortunately, in the era of Ehsan Mani and Wasim Khan, some bad decisions were taken, which destroyed Pakistan cricket to a larger extent while no cricket at grassroots level could take place. But now with the arrival of Ramiz Raja, we are glad that cricket will further flourish and we will go side by side with him to take Pakistan cricket to new heights.”

He asserted that it is high time, when the new PCB chief should also hold the responsible accountable and take stern action against them.
