Not quite. Colonel was a title conferred on him in the Holkar Army in the’20s. Indore was ruled by Holkars. He is still CK Nayudu, it’s the people calling him Colonel CK Nayudu.
It’s like General Zia ul Haq or General Parvez Musharraf … the army titles stick when remembering someone fondly.
