This tournament was a total waste of time and money.

All we got were some performances during the World Cup which no one cared for as most interested in what's happening to Babar Azam etc.

CT 2025 is miles away so these performances will be forgotten.

Poor players put their bodies and souls in this tournament but to what end?

The old saying in Urdu "Jungle mai mor nacha, kis nay dekha?" - which literally means no one cares if a peacock dances in some faraway land

This is how these players must be feeling.

Yes, it's sad that the PCB organized the Pakistan Cup during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Most people weren't aware of its schedule. The final of the Pakistan Cup even coincided with the ICC World Cup final. It's frustrating that why the PCB doesn't prioritize the marketing of local players.

Yes, and the final of the PakCup was on the same day as the finals of the WC. Poorly scheduled. And also they had 4 games being played at the same time and only one was televised. It doesn't make any sense.

When the last Pakistan Cup happened which was well before the World Cup and different players who performed never got a look in under Babar then there wasn’t any point of scheduling this tournament until later.

It was clear during the last 6 months Babar wouldn’t change the team and now he’s no longer captain after flopping in the Asia and World Cup.

That’s Pakistan cricket in a nutshell the people in charge have zero flexibility to do what’s best for Pakistan instead of playing their buddies and friends which results in consistent failure.

Now Pakistan doesn’t have the players to be the best team in ODIs but at least you do what’s best for the team and drop non performing players and add players who can give you something extra.

It means there aren't enough sponsors for the Pakistan Cup, and no one is interested in broadcasting those matches. It's horrible.

Well the main issue is that the level/quality is so poor. These players will never be able to compete vs International team, of course you have a Saim Ayub and maybe one or 2 other youngsters but I looked at the highlights of the final and its shocking how unfit and below average most players are.

The problem is that we are not going to play any ODI match before November 2024 and by that time we won't be sure if these players are still in form or not and since our main players were not a part of this Pakistan Cup so we may only see a couple of players who performed well in this Pakistan Cup playing ODI cricket for Pakistan in the near future.

This is the reality which boys who enter cricket professionally have to face

Pakistan is a one sport country with many many professional cricketers
On top of that, we do not play enough test and ODI matches that the Big 3 do

So opportunities are limited and it doesn't help that some valuable spots are taken by parchis even at the national team level

I was seeing stats of this year's domestic FC and List A season and Kamran Ghulam has been continuously making runs for atleast 3-4 seasons now.
But how will he get an opportunity when parchis like Imam and Shan have occupied 2 valuable spots in test matches

The same goes for performers in Pakistan Cup. We don't play enough ODI cricket and when we do, 1-2 undeserving players occupy valuable spots

So why are we surprised when cricketers aim only to do well in the PSL?
It gives you recognition, opportunity to earn money in different leagues and also a national team spot

Upcoming cricketers who are under 12-13 now will never want to play ODI and Test Cricket. The sooner we accept that, the better
