"We'll investigate the situation and find out what actually went wrong (Umar Akmal)" : Shahryar Khan

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shaharyar Khan has raised his eyebrows on the recent oust of batsman Umar Akmal from the national squad for the upcoming ICC champions Trophy after he failed a fitness test.

Akmal was dropped from the Pakistan squad for the eight-team tournament and flown back home after he failed a fitness test.

The right-hander, who failed to make it to the national side for their tour of the West Indies, regained his fitness in the recently concluded Pakistan Cup and was therefore selected for the Champions Trophy, but somehow got declared unfit after an on-tour fitness test, Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq had said on Monday.

Shaharyar believed its questionable how Akmal lost his fitness in a matter of four weeks and said ‘someone should take responsibility for it.’

“It is to be seen whether we was already unfit or not. We will investigate the situation and find out what actually went wrong,” said the PCB Chief while addressing media on Tuesday.

Akmal has struggled to cement his place in the national side after making a good start to his international career in 2009. His career has been filled with issues ranging from discipline to fitness and under-performance.

Pakistan kick off their Champions Trophy campaign against arch-rivals India at Birmingham on June 4 followed by their clashes against South Africa and Sri Lanka on June 7 and 12 respectively.

Stop the investigation...I've found the culprit :

Hopefully proper investigation is made. And all culprits are fired.

More words by our chairman with no meaning behind them.

Nothing will be done, there will be no repercussions. Pakistan is a country of no accountability.

Let's just be glad umar is out and we have a far better replacement.

We need a backup wicket-keeper.

That's one of the reasons Umar was useful.

However (and I say this as one of his biggest supporters), fitness and discipline cannot be compromised.

I'll go without a backup WK, thank you very much.

Jesus!
Where do they get these ppl from...?
Investigate what?
Umar was all slim and shady when he left Pakistan, its the local chippy and kebab shop on Alum Rock Rd that turned him into a "mota alu" all of a sudden!
Of course he was a fat basket even back home!
