I didn't want to make this thread initially as I was sure after 2021, we would never see Waqar Younis in any Pakistan managerial position again especially after it was well known that the whole family resided in Australia. I only wanted to make a thread about Mickey.

I thought all reports were bogus on twitter, simply stated to start some sort of controversy but ig I was wrong.

Waqar Younis is back and more powerful then ever, and as a result I'm inclined to believe the rumors about Misbah are probably true as well.

So now the question needs to be asked, if they are being brought back, does it mean that they were wrongfully sacked and PCB realised their mistake?

They were the main culprits behind our cricket's downward trajectory. Many ex-cricketers have already complained about Waqar Younis's behavior which was somewhat awful towards the players.... it was right to sack them from their roles.

Well their back now, Misbah will follow suit soon. These 2 have always been a pair.

They ran away on the eve of a world cup, because they knew they were going to be sacked post world cup unless they won it.

They had no faith in the team they built, hence they handed in resignations. Misbah and waqar should have been barred from PCB positions for life after that fiasco.

nope.

Rameez Raja forced Misbah to resign.

Rameez Raja had told Misbah that he wont be travelling to the World T20, and he will be made to stayed back in Pakistan as a coach. He didnt want to fire Misbah, so that they wouldnt have to pay him for contract termination.

Misbah than resigned because the intentions of RR were quite clear

and if Misbah doesnt become Coach, than will you accept that you made false assumptions?

So they did resign...

They could've stayed behind and exposed rameez ( if the case you are presenting is true)

They could've stood up and against the culture of the newest chairman coming in and uprooting the whole setup but alas, no one in Pakistan wants to take the hard and right path, they all want cushy roles and when then going gets tough run away.

Exposed what?

Everyone knew what was happening.

What would have there standing up would had done?

There contract was to end in 2 months.

Instead of using generic terms plz tell us how they could had stood up, and what would had happened?

Nope. There is no wrongfully sacked thing about these 2 guys TBH. Misbah was never meant to be a coach. Waqar was a tried and tested guy who never did anything noticeable as a coach. Not good players always make great coaches.

No, because misbah will likely get a role in pcb which is what I claimed.

But even if he doesn't theirs nothing wrong with Me assuming a certain trend

They didn't run away, Misbah never runs away, he sticks until he's forcefully sacked.

This happened when he was t20 captain as well where he was forced to step down.

Weren't they resigns before the T20 world cup ??

Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis have quit their coaching roles with Pakistan, a month before the Twenty20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The Pakistan Cricket Board said on Monday that it had appointed former test players Saqlain Mushtaq and Abdul Razzaq as interim coaches for the home limited-overs series against New Zealand that starts this month, and for the two T20s against England in October.

“Team management for the T20 World Cup will be appointed in due course,” the PCB said in a statement.

Head coach Misbah cited long periods spent in a bio-secure bubble during matches as the reason for stepping down.

Waqar, who is the bowling coach, said “it was a straightforward one for me to resign as we had walked into the roles together and had worked as a pair”.

Both were appointed in Sept. 2019 and still had a year each left on their contracts.

New Zealand will play three ODIs and five T20s in Pakistan while England will play two T20s.

Misbah stayed in the West Indies to complete quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus in Jamaica during the recent series of four T20s and two tests.

“I understand the timing may not be ideal but I don’t think I am in the right frame of mind for the upcoming challenges and it makes sense for someone fresh to step in and take the side forward,” Misbah said.

“Considering that I would have had to continue to spend considerable time away from my family, and that too in a bio-secure environment, I have decided to step down.”

Waqar echoed Misbah’s views.

“Bio-secure environments in the past 16 months have had their impact, something we had never experienced during our playing days,” Waqar said.

“I want to thank each and every member of the Pakistan set-up as we stayed united in good and bad days, and hope there will be brighter days ahead.”

They were sacked by rameez raja. All these interviews are just dil khush rakhnei walei explanations.

I know people have qualms against Misbah. Frankly I was not in favor of Misbah's role as a Selector + Coach either.

You have to look at the current Pakistani team, the board and trajectory of the team. Misbah's involvement in red ball Cricket in any position has been a net positive. He's one of the few guys in the country who understands the game, tactics, strategies, fitness standard and demand of the game. He's not those very old ex Cricketers. He's very much involved in modern game. He's well educated. He stays fit and plays Cricket himself even at 50.

I don't want him to have a complete non-accountable role like Ramiz to do whatever one wants. You can keep him away from the limited overs side if you think he's not good enough and that we have better options. Fair enough. But his red ball experience and record speaks for itself.

Players and fans may not like him because of the strict fitness and discipline standard he will bring. But what they don't understand is that he is not a tyrant. That's the demand of the game now.

Guys like him should be involved in a big role with the red ball team. All due respect to Gillespie but he does not understand the Pakistani team culture, country culture and the domestic circuit. It will probably take him years to get some grasp.

What will Misbah even logically do? Genuinely what will he even do?

Only solution I can think of now is to have pakistan go back to UAE and play everything their including PSL

Misbah understands Pakistan domestic cricket better than Misbah.

He can emphasise fitness and help bring a modicum of structure back to the Pakistan side.

And especially Pakistan can start winning Test matches at home again .

Instead of building castles in the air, the need of the hour is pragmatism and there's no one more pragmatic than Misbah.

sure. yes please.

Here come the Misbah again.

The cycle never end's in pakistan cricket

:kp

My sympathies. But lack of talent in Pakistan extends not only to players but also coaches and the entire setup.

Misbah is mediocre but there might be a certain minimum standard under him

How about you listen to what Kirsten was saying and remove rubbish like Rizwan who wants to be the stumbling block in your progress?

And how did PCB treat Kirsten ? Or Gillespie for that matter?

Good luck getting an international coach of that calibre in the near future. Or expecting PCB to listen to them .

You don't have any real options left.

They have not been sacked.

They are part of the 5 mentors that are responsible to bring Pak cricket to former glory & they have OTT salaries.

Plz bring back the Mohammad Wasim guy.
He was an excellent cheif selector and atleast did selections on merit.

Saala sb, Hassan Cheema , Usman Walha etc these are the guys calling shots in PCB.

Selection committee Coach etc are helpless or they are responsible for not whistleblowing

I’m asking you, where did you hear that those guys all calling all the shots as you have stated?

I've seen it in practical , they are ones making and breaking careers , plotting comebacks and all murky business

These were the guys who laid the foundation of tuk-tuk in Pakistan cricket. They both should not be allowed anywhere near the Pakistan team now.

Mohammad Amir, in an interview with a local Indian media outlet:

"There are many reasons for the downfall. The reasons for this are that in these 5 years, how many chairmen have changed, how many captains have changed, how many selectors have changed? What I feel is that if you go now, the Pakistan team was fine in 2019. It was doing well, 17, 18, 19. These 3 years have been very good for us. But in 2020, as soon as Mickey Arthur went, everyone went, Then the chairman changed, and then Misbah and Waqar came. They made some decisions that are still damaging Pakistan Cricket. They are still doing it, which I think"

"Because in that year, I think they had made the debut of 36 boys. If you remember, because there was Covid, and they were playing with 36-40 boys. And after that, when Rameez Raja came and became the Babar captain"
