I think a two tier system for Test cricket will help the games to be competitive which in turn could help grow the Test cricket.

India hoped to win the toss lost the 2 tosses. One toss they won they took the wrong decision. Batting first on green top. This lesson we learnt long back with Steve o keefe, kunemann, todd murphy looking dangerous. India had enough intel. So India has no excuse. Without putting words into @SpiritOf1903's mouth I don't think he's referring to the current team as giants of the game but their historical success.

Motie's only played 11 Tests so not sure what returns you're expecting especially when WI Test pitches predominantly favour seam apart from one or two venues.

If you want to highlight their team's mediocrity, there's better (and more accurate) examples than Motie - namely the entire batting lineup !
