West Indies (196/6) defeat England (166) by 30 runs to secure their second consecutive victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026

About time New Zealand (as long as they don’t meet Australia in the final!) or South Africa won the T20 Cup

Not that it matters anymore, but I dont know why we always get rough groups? Why can't we ever get a relaxing group? For example, this time around SRL at least got a decent group.

England suffered a 30-run defeat to West Indies in Mumbai, as Harry Brook’s side were undone by spin in their second match of the T20 World Cup.

Chasing 197, England raced to 74-1 but collapsed dramatically, losing their remaining wickets to be bowled out for 166. West Indies’ spinners dominated the middle overs, claiming six wickets in succession to turn the game on its head.

Gudakesh Motie led the charge with figures of 3-33, removing Jacob Bethell (33), Tom Banton (2) and Brook (17). Part-time spinner Roston Chase also played a key role, dismissing Jos Buttler and Will Jacks.

Sam Curran fought back with an unbeaten 43, but ran out of support when Adil Rashid was caught in the penultimate over.

Earlier, England’s bowlers struggled to contain the West Indies batters at the Wankhede Stadium. Jofra Archer’s lone wicket came at the cost of 48 runs, while Curran conceded 36 in his three overs. Sherfane Rutherford starred with 74 off 42 balls, despite being dropped twice — on 23 and 56. Chase added 34, while Jason Holder struck a quickfire 33 from 17 deliveries to help West Indies reach 196-6.

Although the loss does not end England’s qualification hopes, they now face must-win games against Scotland on Saturday and Italy on Monday in Kolkata to boost their chances of reaching the Super 8s.
