West Indies and Zimbabwe will face off in a rare T20I clash on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium, with both teams entering the Super Eights unbeaten in their groups. Zimbabwe, who missed out on the last T20 World Cup, have impressed in Sri Lanka, powered by Blessing Muzarabani’s early breakthroughs and contributions from Brian Bennett and Sikandar Raza, while Brad Evans has also emerged as a key wicket-taker. Having played all their group matches in Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe will need to adjust quickly to the Wankhede conditions.

The West Indies lineup looks formidable with in-form batters Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, and Sherfane Rutherford providing a strong top order, supported by three allrounders including a fit Romario Shepherd. Their combination of three fast bowlers and three spinners is well-suited for Mumbai, where pace and spin have both been effective in this tournament. This encounter carries high stakes, as both teams aim to gain momentum ahead of matches against India and South Africa.

In the spotlight will be Blessing Muzarabani, a consistent wicket-taker capable of threatening both with the new ball and at the death, and Shai Hope, the West Indies’ anchor and boundary-hitter who has shown excellent form in recent games. Zimbabwe are unlikely to tinker with their squad, though Richard Ngarava could replace Graeme Cremer if pace is needed. The red-soil Wankhede pitch offers bounce for spinners, and clear skies are expected, setting the stage for a competitive and high-intensity encounter.

Squads:

Zimbabwe:
Sikandar Raza, Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Graeme Cremer, Ben Curran, Brad Evans, Clive Madande, Tinotenda Maposa, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tony Munyonga, Tashinga Musekiwa, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava

West Indies: Shai Hope, Johnson Charles, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Gudakesh Motie, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Quentin Sampson, Jayden Seales, Romario Shepherd

Loved windies in the 00s, most of 10s. Was a big fan of gayle in the early 00s. but have to go with Zimbabwe here. Want them to go far. Great to see them doing well.

I want Windies to win because it can help with elimination of India. :dav

If Zimbabwe win, it can give India an opening. I don't think Zimbabwe will win more than 1 game in Super Eight (probably will lose all 3).

If WI had Nicky P, they would've been one of the favorite team to win. They would've had monster lineup with Nicky P.

Oh I forgot about that. Anything to eliminate the ICT. So.. Windies winning is indeed better.

WI will challenge Ind too won’t be surprised if they actually beat Ind.. if GG doesn’t play kuli and varun together then. Wi can beat Ind too

India would want Zimbabwe to win
No really , this game is not important because if either of team win today, they have to win one more game against India / South Africa.

For india, South Africa has to win all game and india to win remaining game's. That's it. No NNR locha at all.

:klopp :kp

Last time these two played a T20I was the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Before that, they last played each other in 2013.

WI have a slight chance of beating SA but in all likelihood Zimbabwe don’t have that.

If Zim beat WI, it makes things straight forward for India in that they will just have to beat WI and not rely on any other results.

Zim win definitely eases things for India

West Indies should prevail but zimbabwe is playing smart cricket.
This should be good one.

West Indies should win this one and against South Africa as well.

Then india will say goodbye to the world cup at home.

If wi can beat South Africa so can Zimbabwe on given day.

South Africa can lose big against any team just like india lost against South Africa .

As of now South Africa and India to win remaining game for india to qualify so yes today match results won't matter.

How horrible has Brandon King been in this tournament? Should have been dropped from the team for today. Chase offers higher value despite his low SR

If Zimbabwe can beat Australia and Sri Lanka at their home, they can beat West Indies and India too. :kp

Match low scoring or close hona chahiye!! Banki jo bhi jeete, hum uske sath hain!!

9/10 these minnows don’t do themselves justice if they fluke it to the next round. Tournament gets devalued.

WORLD RECORD! Zimbabwe’s Brad Evans becomes the first bowler in history to take a wicket in 28 consecutive innings in T20s. Previous record was by Lasith Malinga and Mark Adair (27 inns each). Usman Tariq is currently on a streak of 25 inns.

Am I right is saying that the best result to ensure our neighbours have sleepless nights is for West Indies to win with a big margin today, to make their NRR hurt even more? If so, looks like Hetmyer got the memo.....

NRR won't matter if South Africa defeat Wi and india win remaining game. :kp

Team like Zimbus can’t afford to drop catches
Funny thing is this was only second drop catch in the tourney, they have the best catch ratio of all teams. Goes to show you can take a 100 catches but one drop could make all the difference.
