Last 10 overs WI scored 22 runs. Pakistan scored at that rate for majority of times even when batting first. So both teams are pretty much playing for a draw and afraid to lose series. I am speculating, but Misbah didn't want to go out with 1-2 series loss and that's why knock like 1(51).
Anyway, WI will be more than happy to draw it and get some points, but playing like this won't do good if they lose wickets.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. They probably watched Pakistan's snoozefest and thought why don't we take a leaf out of their book?

WI are playing to save their proud record which never lost a home series against Pakistan they have every right to play the way they want to play Pakistan will have to force out a result to make it memorable for MisYou

WI is no 8 and I dont remember the last time they won or even draw a 3 match series.
A draw here will be a big boost and victory for WI cricket. On the other side a big opportunity missed for Pak as we have a much superior and stable team for last 5-6 years.

If Pakistan didn't bat like Ambrose and Walsh were bowling and 2.5 runs an over was good enough in the modern game, we wouldn't be here.
And how abt paks slow batting? Would you the say the same for them? Double standards?

Windies playing for a dull draw
WI is at least twice aggressive than PAK here. They are the underdog, they'll earn ranking points for a drawn series & they are facing 376 scored in 2 days, which has taken almost every chance for them to try for a win, therefore they are doing the next best thing - bat for 2 days to get a lead & eat up time for PAK to force a result. If they can reach 350+ by tea on day 4, there'll be only one possible winner - WI, because, PAK can collapse for 150 2nd time to set a target for WI of 200 in 40, but PAK won't declare setting WI to chase 200 in 40 overs, hence only one possible winner, unless WI concedes a big lead by lunch Day 4. Same situation, swap PAK with WI, Misbah would have scored 1 of 102 balls & PAK batting out 170 overs to reach 200.
Last Test, WI were batting first & had a narrow space to force a win - they did bat positively in 1st innings from 110/5 or so & in 2nd innings (4th morning) despite losing 2 early wickets & facing a deficit of 81. Same situation, PAK would have taken 50 overs to cover that 81 & by that time would have lost half the side.
PAK team oblate is the worst advertisement of cricket (not only Test) & I sincerely hope that this sick note will start to get cured from next Test on wards.

Don't blame them - a draw against a side like Pakistan is a huge achievement for the West Indies. Just look at their recent test series results:

no surprise here. WI are a minnow esque team in Tests for them to draw a series against a team that was number one 6 months ago and is a better team than them is a big achievement. WI have no reason to force the game. the onus is on us to do it as we are the better team. Thats why yesterdays snoozefest didnt make much sense as we had to be the ones to make the running and put WI under real pressure. If you want to bat 140 overs at least make sure that you will only bat once and rack up 500.

You don't have much of a choice when the opposition have batted for two days in the first innings. West Indies' only hope in this game is/was to bat for till day 4 tea and edge ahead of Pakistan, and then take it from there. That though, was always going to be an uphill task with their batting lineup.
WI don't really seem to care whether they want to edge ahead of Pak in their 1st innings. All they care is eat into the overs and bat deep into Day-4 and minimize Pak's chances of a win.

West Indies had like 1 batsman who averaged more than 40 before the series.. No one has much expectations from WI but it's the best Pakistani line up who were number 1 in test just few months back so expectations were high..
What is this new strategy of tiring out opponent bowlers?
Objective is to score runs and put a big score on the board. Not just dead bat 150 overs at 2RPO and tire out opponent bowlers :

I dunno mate every time I come on PP to make fun of Pakistani team (light heartedly of course) I see 100's of threads already posted and Pakistanis themselves making so much fun of their own team I feel sorry and don't make fun.. Even this tiring bowlers strategy was posted in some thread where one guy was trying to protect Misbah saying this and then 10 people tore the poor guy into shreds
It's fine as long as you accelerate towards the end, we'll see how they go in the morning

Need maybe 4 wickets.
2 wickets in first hour and bowl them out by lunch with a lead of 120? Play properly and set windies 300 on a day five pitch like the last one and Pakistan cruise this.
Big mental test and not sure if this team is strong enough though.

The way Pak have batted in this series, there is no way they are going to score around 200 in two sessions.
Also, there is forecast of rain for day 5.

There was also rain forecast all day today and yesterday. We got zero.
If Pakistan don't take the initiative in that case to try and play aggressively with a 100 run lead and bowling last then we deserve to be number 8 in the world and Ill be glad to see Misbah go.
This pitch isn't as dead as it's being made out and I think the game explodes into life tomorrow with all three results possible.
My money is on early Pakistan wickets

This would be huge if Pak win and finally get a win in WI.
Thankfully, Pak lost wkts and we didn't see any tuk tuk from the main batsmen.
They batted out a draw on the 5th Day of a Test v England in 2015 and India last year so this not a done deal.
They have a few technically solid batsmen capable of grinding out a draw like Chase, Dowrich, Hope and Holder.
Hope our bowlers have enough left in the tank as its a four man attack that's got a lot of overs under their belt.
