Well done Sethi

We want a match in Rawalpindi so I can watch a match in Pakistan after 8 years. I have watched many matches of 2010 series in England and 2013 champion trophy but this will be really special.

Every damn match in Lahore?

Even though most major attacks have happened in Lahore. Time to build a new stadium in Islamabad, the safest city in Pakistan.

Lahore: "Cricket West Indies and the Pakistan Cricket Board are advancing discussions that will see West Indies cricket team playing 3 T20 matches with the Pakistan cricket team in Lahore in late November 2017. The tour would be subject to the safe conclusion of the ICC World XI team's three match series in Lahore in September and affirmation of manageable security by the ICC sponsored international security company overseeing the security arrangements of the World XI in September", says a statement issued by Cricket West Indies.

The announcement follows discussions between Cricket West Indies President Dave Cameron and Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi.

Both sides expressed a desire to facilitate the return of international cricket to Pakistan.

Can't wait till we start hosting games in all part of Pakistan: Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Azad Kashmir. Really do hope we provide excellent security for touring teams, treat them like kings, give them proper food and everything. Also can't wait for the new Rafi cricket stadium in Bahria town to be finished; that will be the best stadium in the world.

Highly doubt about this tour. Last time they cancelled BD tour because of firecracker

Well since its a news from Sethi, then I'm pretty much reluctant at whether to believe in it or not.

Need to arrange some matches outside Lahore as well. One good and safe series should mean a gradual return to Cricket in Pakistan.

We are fine without one. Dont want my small city jammed.

New Delhi: Just one day after the first T20 match between Pakistan and World XI, West Indies are set to become the first country to play a short three-match Twenty20 series in Lahore.

The series will be held at the end of November this year, a top Cricket Board (PCB) official confirmed.

"The agreement with the West Indies Cricket Board has been finalised and done and they have confirmed they will come to Lahore in November to play three T20 Internationals," PCB chairman Najam Sethi said.

Speaking on a television channel last night, Sethi revealed that the itinerary for the matches against West Indies would be announced soon.

He further informed that Sri Lanka have also confirmed to play a lone T20 international on October 29 in Lahore.

"I am still trying to convince Sri Lanka to play at least two matches in the coming series in Lahore," Sethi said.

If both the tours materialise, it would be the first time since the militants attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore in March, 2009 that Pakistan would witness a proper international season at home, starting with the ongoing tour by the World XI.

No top Test playing nation has visited Pakistan due to security concerns since the deadly attack on the Sri Lankan team in which at least six Pakistani policemen were killed, with Zimbabwe being the only international side to visit them for a short limited over series in May, 2015, though those matches were not approved by the International Cricket Council.

Sethi said the tour by the West Indies is an important milestone as it would be a proper bilateral series in Pakistan and it would open the windows for the PCB to negotiate with other cricket playing nations.

Sethi said with five South African current players in the World XI side presently in Lahore, the PCB would holds talks with Cricket South Africa to consider sending the full South African team for a short bilateral series sometime next year.

"Right now we are compelled to play only in Lahore but obviously with time we will schedule matches at other Test venues like Karachi, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Multan, he said.
Sethi said Karachi would definitely be hosting at least four matches of the third Pakistan Super League next year in February.

The PCB chief also promised a relaxation in security arrangements for the general public in time.

"Right now we can't take any risks. We know the security plans being enforced for the World XI matches are causing some inconvenience to the people. As we host more foreign teams we will have relaxations but without compromising on the security for visiting teams or our players," Sethi said.

Its impossible to host matches in Quetta and Peshawar

Gradual resumption of cricket is great, but other cities in Pakistan also need to see cricket.

Karachi has not had an attack for much time now, and Rawalpindi and Faisalabad are pretty safe too.
Why not have matches there as well?

I'm afraid Sethis allegiances to the Nawaz are the reason all matches are being held solely in Lahore.

They need to play some matches in Karachi. The crowd might start decreasing with all these matches in Lahore

Multan is probably the safest (in terms of attacks ect) why not in Multan..?
but very good news cant wait untill a test match is played in our home country on our home grounds.!

Terrific news. Will definitely look into going to watch this series. Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle opening all be a treat to watch. Good times for Pakistan cricket ahead.

Good point but I seriously doubt even a single game would be able to get a full audience. Multan doesnt have a HUGE population of its own and people from other cities like Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Sialkot!, Gujranwala and Faisalabad will find it extremely tough to go to Multan.

Hopefully we can have some home games for the Multan Sultans in the PSL this year and that would give a clear indication of the way things are.

In smaller cities stadium is usually pack. in 2008 there was match in sheikhupura against zim and the stadium was just absolutely pack.
other city where there is always very big crowd is faisalabad

and multan stadium is beautiful

Good news. Hopefully Lankans agree to fly in for 2 T20s as well. The more games held here the better it will be for the growth of the game in the country

Both of them especially Quetta is a real warzone.Peshawar is very close to Kabul and the terror threat in both the cities is always high

Yeah Quetta sure feels like a war zone:

but peshwar has been peaceful for quite a while according to our standard..but yes peshawar cant be the host even for nexy 10 years or more..

very good ..now share spme peshwar pic if u have.....peshwar has been great so far under pti government...they have done well...city is clean more peaceful and transport etc is getting better,,,,,psl matches in next 5 years can be held.

Hard to believe Im saying this but this might be overkill for Lahoris

As it is the ground havent been full

Also why all T20S?

everyone who is crying about lahore getting all the matches should not forget that karachi will also host matches in psl 3.

that will allow them to host matches in the future and eventually other cities will get matches too

unfortunately these crybabies will then find something new to cry about

the problem here is their agenda against sethi and nothing else

Also why all T20S?

odis are going to be more costly with respective to the security

during the playing hours the security around the stadium is water tight

if it is extended for the whole day then it is going to cost a lot more and it will also result in the possibility of a security lapse like in the second odi vs zimbabwe in 2015 when a bomber botched the attack which was covered up as a cylinder explosion

for now security for three hours is safer and cheaper

According to reports due to security issues the post pond national t20 cup were not given clearance to play the

matches in multan .i am not sure about multan as it have not hosted matches from long long time i think

faislabad need attention it is the most beautiful ground in pakistan and people were coming large numbers

in domestic t20 matches

in multan

if pcb is smart they should sell ticket in half prices it will fill the ground easily unlike uae

pcb has to spend 10x more money than any other board in order to host matches

it cannot afford to sell tickets at discount

it all depend on if PCB will pay extra to westindies players or not if there are not payed extra money than PCB

can afford the discount in tickets

Despite the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirming a three-match Twenty20 series against West Indies in Lahore in November, WIPA President Wavell Hinds said he could not confirm if the series will take place since he has yet to be notified of the tour.

Some of the West Indies players may be nervous to travel to Pakistan following a security concern involving Trinidad and Tobago’s cricketer Rayad Emrit in Afghanistan recently, another country affected by terrorism.

He escaped injury while playing for Boost Defenders in Afghanistan when a suicide bomber killed at least three people and injured dozen others outside the Kabul International Cricket Ground where he was playing West Indies Players Association (WIPA) is uncertain that the West Indies tour of Pakistan will take place.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) President Dave Cameron said the players will have to decide whether they want to tour Pakistan for the Twenty20 series.

He, however, made it clear that the tour will depend on the security reports and that the CWI has no intention of forcing any player to undertake the tour.

Afghanistans security conditions being compared to Lahore's lol.

Also Ryad Emrit played in the PSL final in Lahore.

Wow this is good news if true. If the SL T20 and the WI ones go without any incident , if like to see a full fledged test tour of Pakistan . Enough of this Abu Dhabi garbage.

Good spot! I forgot that he played for Quetta Gladiators. But he is not in the WI team at the moment and hasn't played for them for about 10 years. I guess he could get a recall and hopefully Sammy can put aside his differences with the West Indies for a greater cause. Samuels would come to Pakistan too as he came for the final. Hopefully West Indies can find some players who would be willing to come to Pakistan as this would be a great series.
