The conditions out there are beautiful for batting, flat deck the heaven open and Mo farts. Wasted a golden opportunity to get some runs under his belt

My feeling is that promoting Smith to number 3 will be a mistake.
Warner and Smith have improved a lot. I don't want them both in the top 3. Smith still moves around too much to bat at 3 in a test match in my opinion.
I would actually prefer Watto at number 3 scoring his usual 20-30 with Smith further back. Yes that means Mitch Marsh misses out but we need to pick the lineup which maximises our chance of winning.
And to me Smith will score more runs in the middle order than in the top order and he'll make up for any runs we lose by putting Watson at 3.
And Voges ahead of Shaun Marsh. Marsh's best is better than Voges but I know which one the two I'd trust if there was a collapse.
The fact the Clarke has signed on as the Melbourne Stars Captain in the BBL probably means he will retire after the Ashes. Voges has enough left in the tank to hang a round for a few years and support Smith's leadership.
Very nice hundred from Root, scored at an unusually high strike rate for an English batsman which in itself gives us an improved chance of winning the game.
Another 70 runs would be lovely - have to win this time.
Three stodgy batters at the top are slowing them down. They need a Tresco type to open. Four through seven all score at a decent clip.
The Trott selection to open is just too defensive.
England into the black!
Get the six, seven and eight thunderbats in tomorrow, power to a 200 lead, hope it turns on the last day and ENG go one up with one to play.
Lead of 100-150 should be enough here but still what was that from stokes last night? awful innings the bloke has plenty of talent but he even manages to make warner look like a bright spark.
England might actually be in a better position if the tail is rolled here.
Force the Windies to try and score something England can't chase down
A ripper from James to get rid of Dev.Smith

England don't have an extraordinary bowler. You need a Lillee or a Waqar on a deck like this.

Which is why playing 90 mph stokes and moeen Ali was probably a bad idea. England are playing a genuine seamer short and will struggle to force a result here.
But which "genuine seamer"? There is no seam to be found on that wicket. There is only Plunkett and he wouldn't take wickets on that either. They need Finn back at full speed.
Which spinner instead of Moeen? They could have picked the leggie but he would be more likely to go for 0-100 than take five wickets on this.
Finn isn't in the squad? My bad then. Although WI are weaker against leg spin than against Ali. So Rashid might've been a better option.
Gotta love test cricket. What a turnaround.
Shanon Gabriel is a good prospect. 150+ guys are rare, hope windies take good care of him.
His speed is very impressive and fitness! was bowling consistently at 90mph throughout the test match and hit 94mph a few times to. But beyond his speed he doesn't really have much skill with the ball, hopefully develops into something descent in the future. Needs to learn reverse swing.

Has nothing apart from pace. Even Roach was a 150+ bowler sometime back but he has lost it now. Also Gabriel might break down, I suspect. Looks very injury prone.
Its like Dale Steyn said, you are either born with lots of fast twitch muscle fibres or you aren't. Gabriel obviously has good Genetics, whether he cashes on 'em or not, remains to be seen.
Anderson doesn't get enough credit, he should be seen on the same level of willis, botham etc he was criticised for not bowling a match winning spell in the 1st Test or just changing the game in a moment of brilliance, but he has done it here.
Not as good as Willis. More comparable to Botham, though Sir Ian changed more matches than Jimmy. He was an intimidating figure who could get wickets with his personality.
Bad luck Holder, looks nasty......
I don't like Botham, seems like a bit of a douche. Anderson is more likeable and he has more wickets to, longevity is underrated. Botham could have had a few more had he not been so fat
Oh yeah, he would have had 450 test wickets instead of 383 if he had looked after himself better. As was he did hold the record for a couple of years until Hadlee passed him.
Not to everyone's taste as a human being but he did raise £10M for childhood leukaemia research.
Anyway, this match has done Chef a power of good. Runs in both innings, decent field-setting tactics and by the looks of it a win in the bag.
