Agreed. Why Pollard? seems odd

I understand it may seem a little harsh or strange by not choosing Sammy as the replacement captain for Dwayne Bravo for this particular game but the decision is comprehensible. The WICB may have noted that if Sammy had helped West Indies to win this game as captain, there may have been cries for him to be made the captain permanently (because he would've beaten the team who were unbeaten at the recent Champions Trophy), and a rift may have become existent amongst team members.
