What's new

West Indies v Pakistan | 1st Test | Sabina Park, Kingston | Apr 21-25, 2017 | Day 1

Good start from Pakistan, needed early wickets given the cloud cover, pitch and the poor performance in the tour match.

WI have a very young middle order so vital to put pressure on early.

This is very poor and frustrating to watch from Amir..

What the hell is Amir doing... this is cowardly bowling, you gotta make the batsman play

Another over with the new ball wasted by Amir, someone send this guy back to the domestics.. he thinks the batsmen is David Warner trying to hit him for a six

Abbas is doing the right thing making the batsmen play, result is the wickets column is full..

Amir has the mentality of a t20 bowler doesn't know that you have to make the batsman play this is not ODI and t20 that batsmen is gonna go after you

woah Man this is some new level hate

Take that :najam

It's quite visible that he is good with seam and swing around, something that you will not get in Asia and Australia (except Hobart).

I don't mind having pace options in the squad who can come in when the conditions suit. In places like England where we tour in May next year, New Zealand or whenever faced with favourable seam/swing conditions we can insert a player like Abbas in.

Agree and I think the management thinks the same swing how reluctant they were to play Imran Khan, who was a very similar bowler.

please look at the highlights and how many balls he wasted saeed5646

None but like Imran, Abbas would be eaten alive.

Abbas is a decent option for England, NZ or wherever we encounter a pitch that supports a bit of seam movement or swing.

Pitch has lots of assistance for seamers so far. Some balls are swinging miles.

Pak should look to shut out WI for under 200 here.

he can be upgrade on imran or rahat we desperatley need a new ball bowler he can be useful

Just random info : Ramiz and Bazid both were against the inclusion of Amir back to the Pakistan side..

There is still swing available.

Riaz will hit the deck hard. Can't extract anything.

Amir's Cluster should have been 1-2 stump towards left and 2-3 feet fuller. He is a fast bowler but bowling like a medium pacer, short and wide, that's terrible

Excellent from Amir

Doubt that was bowled at 133 km/h, the speed guns are definitely not accurate.

Hope looked hopeless there. Looked tentative all through out.

Amir looking unplayable.

from cricinfo may be he was setting the batsmen up for inswing delivery

Mohammad Amir to Hope, OUT, and another! A crackerjack from Amir. Another excellent set-up, pushing the ball across outside off then jags this one back off the seam at good pace. Skims past the inside edge into off stump

He need to change up much more often, not like once in 4 overs, on this wicket, there is lot more juice than that...Although he has came back but not very good use of new ball...

The wicket balls have been shorter than most of his deliveries though? :yk2

Nope, it was fuller than most, atleast 2-3 fuller than the center of his cluster I mentioned in above pic!!

Cloud & Overcast.

Excellent conditions for bowling.

Pak can easily nip out a couple more.

Amir looks a different bowler when he bowls full and on the stump. Don't know who asked him to bowl short.

Now that was prefect channel from Amir, lucky for Singh to survive!!

yeah still not at his best but he has ability and he will eventually improve further

How close is he to being the Amir of old?

When he can maintain this extension, get his front leg across and hips more side-on. He doesn't have the glute or core strength yet. Right now he's just going straight down the line. Isn't getting the same bounce from his base.
