What's new

West Indies v Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Providence | April 9, 2017 | Pakistan Innings

Next question for Babar's PP interview: do you want to win matches for Pakistan or break individual batting records.

Add this too....does he have another batsman in the middle order who can support him with a 50 at a SR 80-90...

Got this from cricinfo "Out of all the critics one fails to acknowledge the consistency and sensibility with which Babar has been playing. He is just over 22 years of age but breaks the dichotomous paradigm of inconsistency associated with Pakistan cricket. He can bat through but what Pak cricket needs is the middle order batsmen than can take pressure of him on the other end."

"dichotomous paradigm of inconsistency,"...erm, yes

Those of you calling Babar out...We would've been all out had he gotten out. Our best batsman. Shabaash Sherr Babur.

this. just like we used to in the misbah days. misbah wouldn take us to 230 if he didnt get out this kid is a bit better. couese he has growth to do as a batsman but good that he was there at the end to work on those limitations

Babar could have made 20 more runs atleast. He changes his gear after his 100 that means he was selfish. Nevertheless he needs to stay at number three and should receive a lecture from captain/coach/pcb.

i copied this too to post here. sarfaraz and malik suit him well in the middle. just cant have hafeez as theybare same type

So the keyboard warriors want Babar to be an accumulator, hitter and finisher?

He played fine today, didn't give it away after the accumulation period, unlike many others before him.

Babar has it in him to switch gears and he showed that with some excellent power hitting at the end today!

If Malik and Sarfraz didn't lose their wicket at crucial junctures, you would have seen Babar accelerating much earlier. He was instructed to bat until the end. He finished with a strike rate of 95.

Don't think the bowling will be as bad as the first ODI. Spinners will get assistance from this track. Feel like we're too dependent on Shadab.

if he has gone all guns blazing very early, very important to note he didnt threw it away just like his cousins...this team would have bundled out for less than 230... 280+ is also a tough total to chase if bowled well...he is the one to look for the future continue to play him at 3.. he carries the bat with a century scored at 90+ SR...

I've already said the guys bowling is overhyped.

But he's already displayed the potential as a genuine batsman.

Based on one PSL innings? Sure, for the cause of Pakistan cricket, I hope he's really good but as of now, Imad is the best spin bowling all rounder in Pakistan.

Oh please, I've seen him in the U-19 WC, Pakistan Cup and the PSL.

The funny thing is, this blitz at the end has only made matters worse for me as a fan. This means the pitch isn't really a demon if a Babar Azam who played 125 deliveries in the heat can hit sixes. The Windies giant may win this very easily.

Sure he has it in him.

But the real question is why did he wait until the 45th-46th over to do so.

Did u see any other batsman looked so comfortable there to take the burden from him and to carry the bat till the end..if malik and sarfraz stayed there he would have accelerated very earlier, nevertheless an excellent finish in the end from him....

Don't you think he played awfully slow when once he realised a century was on the cards?
