Pakistan in the driving seat but need to see off the remaining 5 batsmen shortly

Pakistan 376
West Indies 218/5 (100.0 ov)
West Indies trail by 158 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

I know the pitch hasn't helped them all that much but the bowlers really need to step it up, everyone is moaning about the batting but it's not the batsmen that could only take 5 wickets in 100 overs. Although, the bowlers even needed a batsmen to help save them from even further embarrassment :azhar2

Still a chance we can force a result in this match.

We need to wrap WI tail up quickly and bat with intent in the 3rd inns so that we can bowl at WI on the 5th day.

Boring match... please end already so that we can focus on the Champion's Trophy.. :danish

LMAO good luck... You very well know if Pakistan loses an early wicket (which they will because of Shan Masood) then they will shut up shop and apply the safety first approach. Remember a drawn series is still better than the humiliation of a third consecutive lost series.

Hopefully Arthur will encourage a positive approach.

Amir has bowled 24 over for 24 runs with 12 maidens. Is this the highest maidens to overs-bowled ratio ever?

Waqar: "Windies are hitting big shots but also doing a great job of rotating the strike"

Fazeer: "Yet we've only had 17 runs in 35 minutes"

Oh Vicky bhai :))

Hopefully Arthur will encourage a positive approach.

Ah, my friend, your blind infatuation for Arthur makes you not see what's in front of you.

He's only been adding to our woeful approach, not 'changing' something.

One of the best bowlers in the world. Haters can go hide in a cave.

Nice bowling, gave him a few shorter delivers over the last couple of overs before slipping in the surprise yorker

The way Abbas turned round and gestured to Misbah looks like it was their plan working to perfection

its nice to have 3 fast bowlers who all have a brain.

I can see Abbas having a good couple of years in the test team

Hope Pakistani bowlers will have enough in the tank to go full tilt at West Indies on Day 5. Bowled a lot of overs here.

Poorman,s Waqar Younis.

Brought back the old fashioned yorkers in to play.

Would have been handful in England and New Zealand .

i think he will do fine, average in the high 20s low 30s.

He has skills and more importantly has the brain to use them. Seems to be better version of Imran Khan

Definitely a big improvement over Imran and Junaid Khan.

Bowls at a good channel. Can move the ball both ways. Intelligent and better than all current Pak bowlers reversing the ball.

Definitely a big improvement over Imran and Junaid Khan.

Junaid was great for us on flat tracks for a good couple of years, people shouldn't forget that. If Abbas can match those performances in the UAE, he will be doing a great job

129 ahead & still 162 overs left in the match. PAK should look to score 221 in less than 55 overs & set WI around 15 overs to night.

Misbah has to be convinced that the game is now between time & 10 WI wickets - on this track WI is not going to score 247 on Day 5 pitch, neither can score at 3+ rate. It's a wonderful chance to win first series in WI, he better come out of his usual defensive self.

Get to lunch without losing a wicket, demoralise the Windies a bit then startstep on the gas an hour after lunch and get as close to 350 as we can so we can put the Windies back in this evening.

Time for Pakistan to bat a bit positively and make a bold declaration to give the bowlers enough time to bowl WI out. But knowing Misbah, I,m not too sure about that, let's see.

What is this track if not flat?

Not flat, but dead - even less conducive to bowlers like Abbas, therefore it's a fantastic performance. Really feeling sorry for the guy - could have taken 35+ wickets in those 6 Tests PAK played in ENG & NZ. He is delayed by at least 3 years, if not 5.

Abbas bowled beautifully congratulations to him for picking his maiden 5-fer!

Great bowling from Abbas , disappointed by Yasir. We should score 170+ so we can have a lead of 300 which in my opinion would be enough.

Great stuff from Abbas, not bad for a guy who debuted at 27 :misbah

"I've always had my age as a disadvantage," Misbah said recently. "When I entered first-class cricket or played international, it was the same. At that time you would retire at 32-33, so everyone said, if this guy is debuting at 27, he isn't a long-term option. I suffered a lot due to that, was discouraged by the lack of chances. But I survived because cricket is something I love. It was only because it was my passion that I continued to play as I did.

"I made my debut with Imran Farhat, Faisal Iqbal and Mohammad Sami. They were youngsters, so they were given chances after that. I think it was too early to give a conclusive judgement on someone who isn't even 30. That's when you get to your physical and mental peak. It's around 30 to 35 that you have to cash in on all the hard work you did in your 20s. Fortunately, I think after myself and Younis bhai, this thinking is starting to change. We are finally focusing on form and fitness and not on someone's date of birth. "

No need we had the legend Rahat. @ Ave 37 there was no choice but to give him 20 Tests.

What a turn around, match in perfect situation and is Pakistan's to lose now, Abbas has done well.

abbas has been the find of the tour. The bowlers who are hyped in PP and when played looked good has always performed much better than wahab riaz. Good selection from inzi.

I'm so impressed with Abbas, not an express bowler, hence no one gave him much credit even with tons of wickets season after season in domestic cricket . Now finally got a very well deserved but much delayed chance and , what a performance on his first tour , on some very unresponsive wickets, great stuff.

The only thing more cowardly than Misbah's batting is the PCB's selection policy. Not that we should complain on this forum. Not so long ago half the board was convinced that there wasn't anyone better than Rahat around.

This is a great myth that there aren't better bowlers than Rahat (who can swing) and Wahab (who can bowl fast) in domestics. Waqar Younis and management persisted with Rahat and gave him undue favor.

We have to bat at 3 runs per over at least for today's remaining 73 overs , 73*3=220+130=350 which is equal to 400 on a normal pitch and no way we windies are gonna chase that on this pitch, this is our best chance to win a series in WI in long time, and an ideal send off for MISYOU, but you know common sense is not so common in our management, but just hope against hope they are thinking along these lines for once,, MMHS

no need to put windies in again tonight nor we will have luxury of doing so with the snail pace batting we have,, so just make as many as you can, and then leash the hell on windies tomorrow for full 90 overs, if they escape then they will deserve to get a draw.

The fascination on pace, swag, six hitting and looking handsome should be defeated with brains and skill set. Very well done Abbas

Missed the whole day

So how was it

West Indies batted like duds? Or was Abbas really good?

Also why not much impact from spinner? The way pitch was on first day it should have been a mine filed by now
