After a dramatic few days in Pakistan's political history, Shehbaz Sharif has been elected as Pakistan's Prime-Minister.

What are your expectations of him as Prime-Minister?

I expect him to go after NAB and give NROs to all the thieves who fled country.

He will burn electronic voting machines.

Shehbaz will obediently do USA's bidding meanwhile he and his will transfer record amount of money out of Pakistan.

Basically open buffet for all of the thieves and their den.

Demolish NAB remove EVM disband overseas vote more tax evasions more black economy more lawlessness more bendoverr approach

Hope he reduces inflation and improves the economy while maintaining law and order and stopping terror attacks

Demolish Nab
Get rid of Electronic voting machine
Drone strikes in Pakistan will be back to pre imran levels.
Basically merry go round for the croocks.

You are underestimating EU’s involvement in this . IK has few times let that slip as well .

Spoke with some friends about this and they are saying that he deserves a chance and some are writing him off already as a failure.

Surely he should have the best interests of the country at heart?

Look at his policies- all about saving his family and Zardari’s family from corruption charges. It will a bye product If the country benefits from his policies. His aim is to save his family

Most common feedback is that he is a work a holic, a hard taskmaster, a doer, excellent administrator who knows how to get the best out of the burecracy. Sadly he is corrupt as well but some Punjabi's defend him under the pretext "Khata Hai toh Lagata Bhi Hai".

I am open to giving him a chance.

Hes only here to run time down till the next election, its pretty much like an interim setup really.

So far as expected.

Disaster.

Has no idea what to do with the country and seems his only way out is to run to Pakistan's most wanted in London for advice.

Maybe the title of thread should be changed to "Your expectations of Shehbaz Sharif as Proxy PM for Nawaz Sharif"

Shehbaz Sharif announces ten days national celebrations on Yaum-e-Takbeer

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Thursday while announcing the title of Yaum-e-Takbeer said, “We did not bow down, we will not bow down” said that it had been decided to observe 10 days of celebrations for the historic achievement.

In his statement, the minister said that the Prime Minister had directed that Yaum-e-Takbeer should be celebrated with national spirit in the style of Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan.

The prime minister has directed the federal government, governments of four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan to jointly organize the celebrations, she said. The minister said that the celebrations for Yaum-e Takbeer would begin on May 19.

What is wrong with them?

There is a lot wrong with us as a whole. This is a lame attempt to divert attention from those problems.

The NCM was passed due to ill performance of the government, the dire economic situation, etc. We were told the country was facing a huge crisis and we were in trouble.

Now all of a sudden, it seems just because that government was replaced, all those problems have gone away and its time to celebrate. Makes you wonder, what exactly was done or is being done to help us recover from those problems? Should we really be celebrating anything at all at this time?

People dont have power in the middle of a heatwave, prices are going up... do these guys want to celebrate all that stuff?

ISLAMABAD: Utility Stores Corporation has withdrawn a Rs 180 hike on a 20kg flour bag at the stores following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, ARY NEWS reported.

The federal government Friday hiked flour prices at the Utility Stores with a 10-kilogram bag witnessing an increase by Rs90.

According to a notification issued by the Utility Stores Corporation, Rs 9 per kilogram has been raised on flour, resulting in a hike of Rs90 on a 10 kilograms bag and Rs180 on a 20-Kg bag.

The 20-Kg bag that was previously being sold at Rs800 will now cost Rs980 while 10-kg bag will cost Rs490, contrary to Rs400 previously.

The authorities have now reversed the increase after the incumbent government was criticized for the hike despite claiming otherwise.

Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a unique announcement by saying that he will reduce the flour price even if he has to sell clothes.

While addressing a public gathering of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) in Bisham tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Shangla district, PM Shehbaz Sharif vowed to reduce flour prices in the province.

PM Shehbaz vows to transform K-P into Punjab

Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) into Punjab, asking the people of the province to vote for the right leaders who believe in prosperity and development instead of those who spread chaos and anarchy.

“If you want Peshawar to be developed like Lahore and entire province like Punjab then you have to decide who wants prosperity and development and who made false promises and takes U-turns,” said PM Shehbaz while referring to PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday.

He was addressing a public gathering in Mansehra district of K-P, a stronghold of his predecessor Imran. “I promise you that I will make all-out efforts for your prosperity under the leadership of [PML-N] supremo Nawaz Sharif..”

While speaking about the economic challenges facing the country, Premier Shehbaz said his government had to increase the electricity and fuel prices “with heavy heart” and criticised the previous PTI government for freezing the petroleum prices for political gains. “But at the same time, we also provided subsidies to 8.5 million families…”

He also requested K-P Chief Minister Mehmood Khan of PTI to reduce the flour price in the province. “I will request the [K-P] CM to provide flour at cheap rates but if he does not respond then I am repeating that I will sell my clothes…”

He also announced the establishment of a medical college in Mansehra and a development package worth Rs1 billion for the district.

In the upcoming budget, the government will unveil a scheme to provide free laptops to the country’s youth, he added.

‘Absolutely not’

Addressing the rally before the prime minister, PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz said the incumbent premier will change the destiny of Pakistan with the support of the people.

She said people rejected the PTI’s long march, saying “absolutely not”. “He [Imran] used the K-P government's resources and taxpayers for his party gatherings and rallies which are aimed at spreading anarchy and chaos.”

Referring to the alleged leaked audio clip, Maryam said Imran begged PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to save his government ahead of the no-trust motion.

“Revolution does not land with parachute…Revolution does not come by taking U-turns...”

She also termed Imran’s narrative of foreign conspiracy fake, saying like his mandate his claims are based on lies.

In her concluding remarks, Maryam asked the crowd: “Will you support Shehbaz Sharif for taking tough decisions to fix the country destroyed by Imran Khan...”

Cabinet forms committee to chalk out plan of action against 'anti-state activities'

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday constituted a five-member committee to chalk out a plan of action to deal with anti-state activities as the federal cabinet expressed concerns over recent statements by PTI leaders regarding the party's Azadi March.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Adviser on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira are among the members of the committee.

During the meeting, the cabinet expressed grave concerns over the recent statement of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. A day earlier, Khan had said that he would use the full force of KP when PTI chief Imran Khan gives the next call for protest.

The meeting also took notice of Imran’s remarks in the buildup to his party's recent march as well as his admission that some of the protestors were armed.

Future anti-state marches to be dealt with 'iron hand'
The federal cabinet was assured that any anti-state long march in the future would be dealt with an iron hand. The interior minister also informed the meeting's participants that the PTI's Azadi March was an "anti-state conspiracy" and not a political activity.

He alleged that it was an "armed attack on the state" under the guise of political activity, and claimed that no law enforcement official was carrying a weapon at the site of the march.

PM Shehbaz said that he had also directed the interior ministry and law enforcement agencies to not carry weapons at the march venue.

The cabinet felicitated the nation on "rejecting" Imran's Azadi March and lauded law enforcement agencies for "performing their duties efficiently".

During the meeting, it was highlighted that the PTI utilised the resources of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government by assembling armed groups at KP House a day before the march, while the Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister attacked police personnel.

Sana proposes registering cases against PTI leaders

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad after the cabinet meeting, the interior minister came down hard on the PTI. State resources were used to further the political agenda of Imran Khan, he alleged, adding that armed police officials from KP were illegally added to the army of the "criminal gang".

He went on to say that in order to further the "criminal political agenda", polarise the nation and mislead the youth, this armed gang attacked the centre and headed towards Islamabad.

"When they were stopped at Attock, Mianwali and within Islamabad city limits, they opened fire at police officials," he said, adding that the protesters also removed obstacles placed to deter them.

The minister went on to say that the party misled the Supreme Court and obtained a favourable order, which allowed them to stage a protest at Islamabad's H-9 park.

"[The order] was implemented and we made arrangement for them to stage the protest but then that was not their objective. Their objective was not to carry out any political activity. Their objective was to enter Islamabad and spread chaos and anarchy. Their objective was to seize the capital city and make the government dysfunctional," he said.

He alleged that all the protesters that gathered at D-Chowk belonged to "the same province" and had arrived in Islamabad a day before.

"We have marked all the buildings and hotels [where they stayed], we are noting in our report the details of where these people came from and where they stayed," he said, adding that some also stayed at Parliament Lodges and KP House.

Sana claimed that police had only used rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse protesters, asserting that they did not fire a single shot.

The minister said that he had proposed to the federal cabinet that permission be given for cases against PTI leaders.

He said the federal government would have to grant permission for this as it was the competent authority, adding that the cabinet had proposed a sub-committee to analyse the facts.

"If my stance has any weight, then the committee will inform the cabinet of its decision," he said, reiterating that there was evidence to support the PTI's true intentions. "I am hopeful that the case will be registered and this group will be prosecuted."

Will Sell My Clothes To Provide Cheapest Wheat Flour To People: Pak PM

While addressing a public meeting at Thakara stadium on Sunday, the PM said, "I reiterate my words, I would sell my outfits and provide the cheapest wheat flour to people."

"I solemnly declare in front of you that I would lay down my life but put this country on the path to prosperity and development," Shehbaz Sharif said during the rally, reported Dawn.

"Imran Khan, who disgraces everyone in public, had reduced petroleum products' prices at a time when the rates were increasing all over the world after realising that he will be thrown out of power through a no-confidence motion," he said, as per the media portal.

A shame Imran didn’t think of it when he was the PM. He made 33 foreign trips - imagine the money he would have saved had he made 33 teleconferences instead.

Having a foreign trip is always a good idea and it helps in building relationships. However, extravagant expenditure to live like royals is something that does not reflect Pakistan's current position and should be avoided.

On Imran, yes he made trips but his trips were much cheaper than that of Sharif and Zardari.

You can check the level of immense Jahalat and mediocrity from Shehbaz Sharif when he and his PMLN stooges mention Imran Khan as "Imran Niazi" whenever in a derogatory manner due to a certain General Niazi in Pak Army during fall of East Pakistan.

The way they generalize "all Niazi surnames/qaum" is just pure Bughaz and really pathetic.

Seriously embarrassing.
Never seen a PM of country ranting and threatening opponent leaders publicly on social media.
He is wasting time on IK rather than handling current situation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the next general elections in Pakistan will be held within 15 months and his goal during the time will be to address the dual challenges of inflation and poverty.

“My vision is to rebuild Pakistan and try my best to decrease poverty and cut the budget of the government sector to ensure austerity,” he said in an interview with Turkish state-television TRT, during his three-day visit to Ankara.

The premier stated that his current government would take short-term measures to address the problems faced by the masses ahead of the elections. However, he emphasised that if his party returned to power, a full-fledged development agenda would be launched to deal with issues such as unemployment and poverty.

The prime minister further said that the global hike in prices of fuel had compelled his government to increase the cost of oil and gas.

The federal government on Wednesday dropped a fuel bomb on the nation after it suffered an electric shock earlier in the day – to meet the conditions imposed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the revival of the stalled loan programme signed with the global lender during the previous PTI regime.

The government raised the prices of all petroleum products, with the exception of one, by another Rs30, just a week after making a similar increase – hours after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) approved a massive increase of Rs7.91 per unit in the power tariff.

Pakistan’s political situation

Regarding the political situation in Pakistan, PM Shehbaz stated that for the first time in the country’s history, a no-confidence vote had succeeded.

“This is a constitutional and legal transition which has been provided in the Constitution. It is a big step forward, rather a quantum jump,” he said.

He stressed that in the future, the no-confidence motion would be an acceptable norm in Pakistan and that a majority of parliamentarians should be allowed to vote freely under the law if they are against a particular government.

He highlighted that in the past, similar situations had led to martial laws and military interventions. “But now, this has changed the entire ballgame and must be supported,” he said.

PM Sharif said that Pakistan was engaged with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to put the country’s economy on the right track as it had “suffered greatly in the last three years”.

Relations with Turkey

According to PM Shehbaz, Pakistan and Turkey were pursuing regional cooperation with immense understanding and unity between the two countries’ leaderships.

Deeming his Ankara visit “phenomenal”, he said that the people-to-people bond between the two nations was grounded in history.

“The relationship between our forefathers has become a permanent brotherhood for the days to come,” he said, mentioning the pre-partition era where Muslims of the Indian sub-continent supported the Turkish movement.

Read Pakistan 'genuinely' wants to increase trade relations with Turkey: PM Shehbaz

On Pakistan-Turk defence ties, he stated that Pakistan desired collaboration in military projects and that the launch of MILGEM – a national warship program of Turkey – was in line with that vision.

Regarding the target of achieving $5 billion in trade with Turkey, the premier said the objective was to expand the scope of trade and investment in diverse fields for the benefit of both countries.

On Turkey’s anti-terrorism steps in Syria, he said that since Pakistan had been a victim of terrorism and it supported the Turkish leadership in their efforts to eradicate the menace.

Moreover, PM Sharif emphasised a trilateral arrangement between China, Pakistan and Turkey, urging the latter to join the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

“The participation of Turkey in CPEC will translate into regional economic prosperity of the region,” he said, adding that he had proposed the same to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He maintained Turkey’s vast expertise in road infrastructure and energy projects could better the multi-billion regional project.

To a question pertaining to Pakistan maintaining a balance between Turkey and the Gulf states, he expressed satisfaction that Turkey’s relationship with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates had improved.

“This is important for global peace and will become very fruitful for the entire region,” he said.

Foreign relations

The prime minister said Islamabad would support subjugated nations, including Kashmiris and Palestinians, struggling for their rights.

“It is not a question of Israel or India, but of showing moral support for such people. Peace will not return to the region until their demands are addressed,” he said.

On the country’s position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he said, “Our unwavering stance is that we stand for independent rights of societies,” he said, stressing the need for both parties to come to the negotiation table.

When he comes back to power, Kaptaan needs to ask for every paisa back from The Sharifs and the media. On the one hand they are cutting subsidies from utility stores saying we don't have any money and at the same time they are spending billions on Ads to reward their partners in crime.

He is an absolutely third gig politician who got the big office via Cherry Blossom literally he is not PM material if he had to increase the petrol prices then why wait for 2 months and put country in a limbo destroy all economic indicators and credit ratings of Country stock market is almost crashed and investors are running away.

A complete midget he is Mr. SS the money launderer

Is the all time high mehngai no longer an issue for Mamoon and Major? Why was it an issue under IK and PTI but no longer a problem under the PDM where it has gone up several notches in one month?

Are they now going to behave like the lifafa journalists like Mansoor Ali Khan, Asma Shirazi, Najam Sethi, Saleem Saifi by remaining silent?

I was expecting this dud to be a failure..... but he even exceeded my expectations and failed worse than I had imagined.

A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz for "misusing" public funds for political ads.

The petition was filed by Mushkoor Hussain through advocate Nadeem Sarwar.

Names of the prime minister, chief minister and the federal government have been included as respondents in the case.

The petition has taken the position that the government's extravagant spending on ads was at odds with its claims that it lacked the money to run the state affairs.

“The country is currently going through the worst economic situation and owes billions of rupees in foreign debt, the petitioner maintained, citing the government’s talks with International Monetary Fund (IMF) to revive the bailout package.

He contended that both Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz were squandering money on newspaper advertisements for “self-promotion” and cited PM Shehbaz’s recent widely-advertised visit to Turkey.

“A publicity campaign was launched for Hamza Shehbaz's clean water project from the state exchequer,” he added.

The petition prayed the court to restrain the government from using public funds for its advertising campaign and deposit the expenses incurred on the exchequer back to the treasury.

LAHORE:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday emphasised the need for a 'grand dialogue', involving all stakeholders, for progress in education, health, industries and other sectors of the economy.

During the inauguration ceremony of the first phase of 600-beds at Indus Hospital earlier today, the premier said that the current situation in the country was difficult, but Pakistan will soon progress at a fast pace.

“We have to think beyond personal interest for the country's progress and development,” he added.

PM Shehbaz also hailed the philanthropists who set up and ran trust hospitals for the needy and ailing, adding that the “sincere sentiments” of good-natured people who work for any government should not be given political colour.

Shehbaz said that during the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) previous tenure, 480,000 deserving children had benefited from the Punjab Education Endowment Fund.

Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman, Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and other notables were present on the occasion.

Increased petrol prices with 'heavy heart'

On the occasion, the premier said that the incumbent government had to raise petroleum prices with a heavy heart, as petrol prices skyrocket around the globe.

“However, a monthly subsidy worth Rs2,000 will be provided to millions belonging to the low-income segments of society,” the premier contended during his address at an inauguration ceremony at the Indus Hospital Lahore earlier today.

PM Shehbaz claimed that the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had not raised petrol prices in time.

He said that measures were being taken to decrease load shedding in the country, and that load shedding for more than two hours a day will not be permitted.

I do not accept him as a PM, and things are getting worst than what i thought. total failure.

If he means it, he would not:-

1)Waste money on fake cases vs Imran and PTI

2)Quash protests against Supreme Courts order and kill 5 people

3) Build a swimming pool using our money

4)Declare his laundered homes as PM house so again we pay for it

5) Fund anti-PTI and anti-army campaigns based on lies on social media

6) Loot Pakistan for over 3 decades

7) Hide his fugitive brother overseas

8) Sit on a table with a fugitive who Lahore court asks the address for to summon

9)Allocate VIP security to traitor maryam

10) Accept foreign funds to overthrow Imran

11) Not hire a single Pakistani in his laundered money-funded factories in Saudi Arabia.

12) Buy people in institutions and hide from jail

I think SS genuinely wants IK to be the PM again, at least he is trying his best.

APNS delegation meets PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the government will clear its outstanding advertising dues of newspapers on a priority basis to alleviate the serious cash crunch being faced by the industry.

He also instructed for all dues to be reconciled by June 30. He further said that his government does not believe in political victimisation and will therefore clear advertising dues of the previous government.

The prime minister assured that the government advertising rates of the newspapers will be adjusted in line with inflation. He also committed that no new taxes and duties would be imposed on the newspaper industry in the coming budget and that the government would consider providing additional relief measures to help crisis ridden newspaper industry to cope up with the extraordinary inflationary pressures.
