Here are some of my predictions; let's see who gets things most right!
Winner: Karachi Kings
Highest run scorer: Shaibzada Farhan
Highest wicket taker: Usman Tariq
Highest strike rate among batters with over 200 runs: Shaibzada Farhan
Lowest economy among bowlers who have bowled more than 20 overs: Usman Tariq
Player of the Tournament: Saim Ayub
Outlandish prediction: Rizwan will end up with a higher SR than Dave Warner
On Karachi Kings: With David Warner as captain, I feel he will bring the best out of this KK side. He leads from the front, plays fearless cricket, and has the personality to lift what is, on paper, a fairly average squad. KK didn’t have a great season last year, but with Warner’s experience and leadership, I think he will drive this team home.
I also expect Salman Ali Agha, now free from the burden of captaincy, to step up and show he is a quality T20 player. Adam Zampa, meanwhile, is a class operator — often underrated — and in Pakistan conditions, he will be very difficult to score against.
As for Mohammad Rizwan’s strike rate — this PSL will be a defining moment in his T20 career. After a horrid BBL stint, where he was even retired out for batting too slowly, the spotlight is firmly on his intent. His future in overseas leagues will depend on how he performs here. He will not want to end up with a sub 130 SR. And while I personally think Pakistan cricket may be better off moving in a different direction, this pressure might just bring out a more aggressive, improved version of Rizwan this PSL.
