So we are seeing both Pakistan and India in action in the 5-day format at the moment, but what can Pakistan and India take/learn from each other's current Test teams?

What's lacking in either team which the other has?

One thing that both teams lack is good catching. If they increase their catching percentage, they will win a lot more.

What can Pakistan , a side that loses to West Indies teach India ?

India will be happy to find a left-hand fast bowler of Shaheen Shah Afridi's caliber. And Pant can improve his keeping (and even batting) by watching Rizwan. Shardul can aim to be a good medium-fast bowling allrounder like Faheem.

Pakistan needs to learn to seize moments in the match like India do; they let go the opposition easily sometimes, but this is more on captain and coaching staff. PCT should also get better openers, may even try some limited overs specialists like India did with Rohit and Rahul. Maybe bring Fakhar, Sharjeel, Imam into the fold.

Have players with ambition. Too many people in our team are just happy to be there. We need winner with a single minded pursuit of winning.

Pakistan dropped Asad Shafiq.

We can learn that from them and let go of either one of Pujara/Rahane to begin with.

Pakistan has a lot to learn. Period.

We have a pathetic team with no sign of improvement. Every single match we rely on a brilliant individual performance rather than playing like a team… we should at least learn that from India.

Pakistan plays with a lot of Swag which is missing from the Indian team. Win or lose but play like Champions.

Indian team has a very methodical and boring approach.

I think you are referring to the Pakistan team of the 90s and not the current one

Well put.

Just to add I think seizing the moments and overall approach are the subsets of a team atmosphere that breeds confidence. Further I think a long term direction for which the whole team work towards in an integrated way is really important to give the purpose to the hard yards to be put in the present.

Pakistan need batsmen who can attack to put pressure on opposition bowlers like top order Indian batsmen do, even if it is test match they playing. Babar and Rozwan,Fahim can do that but top order is too meek lacking confidence to playtheir shots.

Lots of unique secret success things that can be taken from Pakistan.

. Mega trundler as strike pace bowler.
. Lead wrist spinner who throws low full tosses at will.
. Worst technique batters in the squad as openers.
. Celebration stamina whether you're an over excited generator or daer pasli Ertugul

I am not so arrogant to think that we can’t learn anything from Pakistan. At the same time, have to disagree on the Pant vs. Rizwan point. Pant is an awesome keeper and is a match winner with bat - I am sure one of you Pak fans will find a video where Pant misses a straightforward chance, however, that isn’t the point - he is super reliable behind stumps and has a superb technique.

pak can learn the benefit of having lots of A tours, siraj is a decent bowler but he seemed ready for test cricket form the moment he debuted, whereas pak have not allowed someone like abdullah shafique to play a first class game in a year.

he'll pbly debut in the next game, bag a low score and be dropped from the squad.

Indian team to learn from Pakistan team:
1. Get rid off non-performing middle order
2. Stay humble and don’t be arrogant

Pakistan team to learn from Indian team:
1. Stay positive and aggressive
2. Play to the plan, play each session at a time. Don’t be bothered with past session(s)
3. Prioritize fitness for all, not just for the bowlers
4. Don’t play for the gallery

Both teams to learn:
1. Play your best team for the conditions, and not on reputations
2. Improve fielding and catching

Pakistan could do with picking players that have guts character and who are willing to put up a fight Most of the current lot lack desire

You can be the worst team in the world in terms of skill but you can always fight and put a price on your wkt

Too many of the current lot are soft and basically unwilling to spill blood sweat and tears on the pitch

Most top class cricketers arent the most talented but usually are the ones that have the most desire

How perspective has changed for PCT just because of 1 T20I win in a series which was rained off..

India may still learn something from PCT; because they re good learners.. and who knows they even doing that
On the other hand, our PCT players are like "Hamaare Zamaane main ....", "Jab main team main tha.."

Pakistan can learn ruthlessness from India. No way would players like Abid Ali, Imran Butt, Azhar Ali, Mohd Abbas, Yasir Shah be selected in the Indian team based on past performances or citing lack of options

Bro do guys like Pujara, Rahane look ruthless to you?. I am happy we won but we both know talenders won it for us. Let's admit that it was 70/30 in England's favor at the end of 4th days play. If India got out cheaply after Pant dismissal today, everyone would be calling for Kohli's head to roll. His team selection is still poor and his own batting form is crap. We got lucky today.

If there is one thing they can learn from India is that you should feel sick and tired of being stepped on all the time and give it back to your opponent.

India mastered this art 14-15 years ago and today they are the ones running the show!

Why have you only chosen these lot?

Zero Pakistan players get into an Indian test side right now.

Babar is the most guilty of what you mention and he's supposed to be our best player.

We can learn how to catch and bat from India. There is not a thing we can teach India at all.

Indian team is far from perfect and has a lot to learn, especially from the other Top teams of the past. Unfortunately nothing that they can learn from THIS Pak team.

What Pakistan can learn is to fight fire with fire. Imran and Wasim used to do that. Imagine trying to Sledge Shoaib and Co.. They will come out and break your bones.

Started for us with Ganguly.

Jos Buttler was chirping couple of days ago when Jadeja was batting, that lets get two more and we will get to meet Shami.
Shami when he came to bat said to Buttler, heard you were looking for me.
You need fire in the belly. In current Pakistan team, Only Shaheen and Hasan have that fire.

Haha, you also need to be able to back your chat. Pakistan are much better off keeping their mouths shut right now given their talent.

India can say what they want to whomever they want given IPL money means there are no consequences right now. Pakistan...can't afford any more enemies than they already have.

Pujara was a major factor in India winning the last two series in Australia, too early to think about discarding him.

Imho, they need a bit of the capitalist ( pardon the expression ) mentality.
Principal & Principle
