Even though pakistan recently got beat in Australia they have some outstanding young fast bowlers coming through the ranks that could rattle alot of teams down the line, what do they need to be more consistent with both bat and ball

A spinner,
More experience for the quicks
A fast bowling all rounder
Asad shafiq to man up
Openers to become solid 40-45 averaging opening bats from now

Pak was able to beat Aus (Twice), Eng on their last tours to UAE. NZ one was winnable as well and was closely contested, also I think if SA tours Pak or UAE again, Pak can win the series.

So problem is mostly for overseas tests while definitely team for home tests can be improved as well with an inform spinner and more consistency in batting.

Sami Aslam to partner Abid Ali at the top.

The courage to drop Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq for Umar Akmal and Fawad Alam.

Ammad Butt as the allrounder.

Time for Shaheen and Naseem Shah to develop.

M Abbas to bring back his consistency in line and length.

Zafar Gohar as the primary spinner of the team.

Sami Aslam
Abid Ali
Babar Azam C
Umar Akmal
Fawad Alam
M Rizwan WK VC
Ammad Butt
Zafar Gohar
M Abbas
Shaheen Afridi
Naseem Shah

Is ammad butt a batting or bowling allrounder?, very important for the balance of the team what his strengths are

A solid #5 batsman, a seam bowling AR, a spinner for all conditions, and above all a captain with tactical nous.

an all rounder
a spinner who does not leak 1000 runs a match

1 more solid test batsman

to play enough tests. you wont be a top team if your test specialists play 4 matches in the winter, then are off for 5 months and play 3 in the summer.

eng, aus, ind play around 11, 12 tests a year.

Pak test is poor. Naseem shah picking 5 wickets against SL @ home in 1 innings does not change this. Except Babar their batting is terrible.

Do not get carried away by what 30 year old Abid ali did in 2 tests.

On to the topic Pakistan lacks pretty much everything. Starting from professionalism. Lack of singles, amount of dot balls. Fielding probably is slightly okay now. Bowling is inexperienced. So can't make a call on it. We have to see how they do after 2 years. Batting is going to be the achilles heel for Pakistan.

World Class players: Only Babar is a proper world class talent as of now, Azhar has regressed drastically, Asad can score soft fifties without troubling the results, Shaheen I think has potential but will probably be used as a workhorse further diminishing his potential, Naseem is just too raw to judge or evaluate.

Good bowling coach: Waqar may be a great of the game but is a tried and tested failure as a coach, even with new management Pak missed a chance to rope in a decent coach.

Good Spinners: Surprised to see such lack of spin bowling talents in an Asian team, Yasir is finished, Shadab is bits and pieces at best, he can pick a couple wickets here and there or contribute some runs lower down the order but unlikely to have any proper impact on the game like a genuine alrounder. I have heard a lot of good things about Zafar Gohar but yet to see him bowl to form an opinion.

Home games: I don't think I will have to explain this one, lack of home games really affected Pak's talent pool among other things. After SL series a visit from BD would have done them a world of good. Instead of silly chest thumping and reminding BCB about the debt's of gratitude, a quick visit to Dhaka could have calmed the atmosphere.

Not much.

Just 8 or 9 world-class players.

Apart from that, we are not too far away.
