What if a Pakistani batsman played the same innings as Alex Carey in the 2nd ODI vs England?

If one of our batsmen played that inning they'd be getting slaughtered. It uncountable the amount of times he took a single of the 1st ball with the tail. Even did it at the end with Hazelwood.

He basically did what Azhar did in the New Zealand Test.

He showed no confidence and self-belief to try to chase it down. It appeared that he gave up after Cummins got out.

Sad to say he looked like a Pakistani batsmen with an Aussie kit

He would have been ripped apart like any player from any team.

He should have backed himself to find boundaries, it was absurd watching him take single first bowl and then Zampa not being able to rotate strike again and again.

It was okay if it happened once but the cycle just repeated again and again and he still didn't mind taking single off the first bowl. The very next over he should have stopped taking singles and start finding ways of getting twos or 4s.

Most of the Misbah's ODI innings were like this , including the one in 2011 WC SM against India .

If Pakistan lost matches from winning positions like Australia did in the first t20 and then now today whilst chasing , all sorts of theories would have come to the fore. Here’s a few

1) matches were fixed , with ex cricketers finding an excuse to highlight what’s happened in the past

2) deliberately losing to get the captain or coach sacked . There are camps in the team . One which has Malik, Imad and wahab.

3) This is why we need Umar Akmal back in the team . He scored the most runs for Pakistan in his first ever series and has not been treated fairly and always played out of position .

I dont think he will escape the scrutiny on Australian cricket forums and by aussie fans. Majority of fans are generally fickle in every sport, we know more about keen Pak cricket followers from PP where majority of posters are Pak fans. Such keen followers of cricket wont let such kind of innings fade away easily until atleast the next match when there will either be a new hero or a villain.

Agree with you. Some posters were saying he us worse than Sarfaraz. Carey played more clutch knocks in the 2019 WC than Sarfaraz had played in his entire odi career
