What's new

What is exactly going on with Babar Azam?

We will still lose.

But at least fanboys like you won't be screaming Babar's name when he hits a cover drive vs Italy or Namibia.
World cup 2036

Dr Bassim : We performed poorly in this tournament because Babar and Rizwan destroyed our cricket 10 years ago

Babar was never a power hitter and his playing style didn’t allow him to play aggressively. Forcing him to change his natural game badly unsettled him and now he’s completely lost as a batsman and looks miserable playing the shorter format. He needs to be put out of hos misery and forced to retired from cricket.

Nobody forced him anything. He was sucking hard as an opener or no. 3 since WT20 2024. If you exclude his handful performances vs minnows he has done nothing.

He showed how unable he was to learn to adapt in Big Bash.

Is he a new Kid on the block?

He got 2 long hops from Rashid outside leg missed one for a wide.... Other one went for a single.... Scored 15 of his last 18 balls he faced against England king saar.

Forget T20, which is a format he’s inherently ill-suited, he will struggle in ODIs and Tests for the simple fact that he has stagnated as a player instead of ironing out his weakness and maturing as a player.

Like many Pakistani players of late, fame got into his head and he’s exposed as a result. He’s 31 years old now, he has realistically 1-2 years of international cricket left in him. He‘s history.

This was the game Babar should have taken responsibility but he failed once again, thank you very much
Yeah Babar should have taken the responsibility at a position he never played at in more than 300 T20 games with club and country. Yes, he should have taken the responsibility because everyone else in the team have got their hands tied. I agree.

Meanwhile as a opener against mighty USA

LOL. Imad Wasim talking about Babar Azam.. pot calling the kettle black

----------------------------------

“How many games will you mess up like this? After playing 24 balls, if you get out...this is criminal, especially for such a senior player.

"Babar came in during the fourth over. Babar didn't come in during the 11th over. So how many times? When will he win us a game of cricket? Like Harry Brook. When will he make an impact? In big World Cup matches, semi-finals, finals, quarter-finals, and important matches. You should have scored against Liam Dawson and Adil Rasheed today.”

"I remember Babar's innings in the 2019 World Cup, the one he played against New Zealand—the best of the best in One-Day cricket, and one innings against India when we won by 10 wickets. Other than those, tell me about impactful innings. This has been our concern for so long. You made him open, made him play at three, made him play at four, until when? We are tired of supporting him; all of Pakistan prays that Babar scores runs."

Michael Vaughan speaking during a show:

"I admire overseas coaches who take on the challenge of coaching Pakistan because I can only imagine what is going on for Babar. I think Mike Hesson has dealt with it brilliantly because he clearly has to play Babar, and he’s using him as an insurance policy. So, if you lose two wickets, he’s your insurance. He comes in at number four, and he can play. In Sri Lanka, that’s absolutely perfect for those wickets because Sri Lanka so far has been 150 to 180, and I think Babar is in that range. I think he’ll get Pakistan 160–170. He comes over to India on a 200 or 210 pitch, Babar’s not going to get you there. I just don’t think he’s that kind of player anymore.”

“I do admire the way Mike Hesson has probably played the politics well. It probably doesn’t give you the best chance of winning the World Cup, but I do feel on a pitch like the one today in Pallekele, I would want Babar Azam in my team, absolutely. Because I want someone solid who can knock the spinners around. If he strikes at 125–130, that’s absolutely fine. You will need a cameo or two from two or three other players around him, but I would want that consistent player in the middle of the innings. I think they’ve dealt with it right.”

“I personally would never want to go and be an overseas coach in Pakistan. I’ve spoken too much to Jason Gillespie about everything. It’s difficult. And I just say I think Hesson and the team and the management — they’ve dealt with it perfectly.”

“I just think he (Babar Azam) is a beautiful player. There are some players who, when you look at the way T20 has moved in the last four or five years, it’s become more and more like baseball. These players are massive. I look at someone like Finn Allen — he’s a monster, a massive human being, just launches it. I would think the best thing for Babar to prolong his Test career and his ODI career would be to give up T20 internationals. He can still play in the PSL, he can still be a domestic league player, but I think for his prolonged Test and ODI career — which I see him as better suited for — he should step away from international T20s.”

“Five of the best players I’ve liked to watch over the last 20 years. Babar is in that list because he plays the game purely, hits the ball on the deck. That’s the style of player I love to watch. I admire the players who can just launch it and crash it all over — fantastic. But I like a Steve Smith, a Joe Root, a Babar Azam, a Virat Kohli. They’re the kind of players I love to watch across formats. But in T20 cricket, if you asked Babar himself to rank the three formats, I’m pretty sure T20 would be third on his list — both in terms of how he plays and how much he enjoys it. He’s still a world-class player.”

They are too

But they aren't fraud king on social media
Babar does not call himself king... If others do then it is not his problem... Babar has done a lot in past.. he sacrificed his place for 2 pathetic performers and now we can see what happened.

I'm sorry he hasn't done anything since last 3 years

I don't want to see him in t20 team

Why was Babar even in the T20 team?

And when did he actually show that he became something he was forced to become?
38 ball 50 was haram for babar for people like you but now it is halal for Farhan... you guys cursed him..

Oh bhai Rehnde

Babar had all the opportunity to show how his Batting approach as opener is beneficial for PZ in PSL and SS in BBL

What happened?

Please man. You have to answer to God one day!

Oh bhai rehn day... Stop defending hacks like saim and salman now... Move on

Sacrificed?

He didn’t sacrifice anything.,

He was forced out. The dheet wasn’t moving.
Well then they should have just dropped him for good... Wasting time on him at 4... World cup is done and so is Babar... Move on from him, Saim, Salman and shadab... Simple

I agree to this,

But then do you agree to stop hounding the youngsters who are brought in? Promise me you won’t backtrack?
WHo are those youngsters... Have seen Hasan nawaz already.. His time with Shaheens has been pathetic as well.. Now what???

Saim is not youngster anymore. he has played over 60 t20s... Move on...Salman is not t20 material and you should accept it... Only guy in the team on merit is Farhan, ABrar, Usman Tariq

There’s no hypocrisy from my part.

Other posters are getting sick of you using this platform just to pedal your pro-Babar agenda.

You’re basically PP’s version of Tanvir Ahmed.
Keep crying... I am not answerable to you boy... Facts are hard for you lot to accept,,, Stay grounded.

Ok carry on.

You carry on going after these youngsters and keep saying “Babar is at least better than them”

Keep going. I’ll do my thing here.

Give me youngsters??

Nafay? maaz? Shamyl?? Who else?

No. I’ll give you nothing. They are nothing to you anyways.

I’ll keep up the ante of removing someone who has ZERO BUSINESS IN T20.

Try and stop me as much as you can (y)

We need a solution STAT.

Psychological? Technical? What is the nature of the solution?

Should it be hypnotherapy? Rejuvenated diet and vitamin change?

Or has his technique gotten sloppy or just reached its ceiling years ago and we need to burst through said ceiling 💥 💥 🏏

How would we do this? His sixes record in t20s is very concerning. Should we hire a power hitting specialist, or think outside the box and hire a baseball coach to teach him power hitting from a different angle?

or is the issue something else?

It is crunch time, the sooner we can come to a solution, the better.

The titanic hasn’t sunk yet, there is still time to mitigate the damage from the iceberg.

We invested too much time, money and emotion into Project: BABAR, esp the PCB, can’t let it end like this.

Keep crying... I am not answerable to you boy... Facts are hard for you lot to accept,,, Stay grounded.

I’ll give you facts. In T20 world cups:

- Babar Azam’s overall strike rate is 111.

- In the powerplay overs it’s around 87, which is well under run a ball.

This means not only has he been exposed against first string bowling attacks but he’s not fit to bat anywhere for Pakistan in T20 cricket.

So no I can accept the facts and his shortcomings. The question is can you?

It pains me to see former Babarians on this forum turn their back on Babar.

It’s not too late. We can fix it. We have the technology.

Pakistani players always peak within the first 2-3 years of their career after which it's all downhill. This has been the case for many years.

Nothing different has happened to Babar.

Pakistan needs to diversify its talent pool. Too many from poor and uneducated backgrounds. Sadly, these kind of players can’t handle the fame and the spotlight that comes with it. This is perhaps the main reason why we are struggling to find leaders.

We need more educated/sophisticated minds, who have the desire to improve and understand the importance of strong work ethic and fitness.

His fitness and overall body language when batting have been poor...... At least try to look aggressive when batting even if you fail to pull it off. He gone downhill quickly in tests too.

Honestly there is a bigger elephant in the room nobody is speaking about due to his golden boy status. Saim is one of the worst batsman in this team and that is backed by his inability to constantly score any runs of note

how are any of these scores over a consistent period of time okay? No other player gets this many chances to consistently fail. Fluke performances on dead pitches against a C Grade Australia should not change how much of a liability he is at the top

He’s still 1000 times better than Rizwan

You have no Standards if you actually think Rizwan is a a T20 cricketer.
He has won a T20 cricketer of the year award and broken a record for most runs scored Calender T20 and T20I along with 12 MOTM awards which was the highest since Shadab started his minnow bashing stat padding. Forget what I think, the higher ups in the cricketing world already acknowledged him for a Steller superhuman year. Saim will never get close to that and you know it too

Saim doesn’t need to chase anything the way Rizwan did and become blacklisted as a T20 player.

I do believe some deep psychological work can do the trick.

Perhaps we need a body language and confidence coach so he is showing eyes to opposition bowlers and aura farming on the crease.

He needs to cut loose. He has the talent, but just expecting good things while the results are poor is not enough.

I am running out of ideas. Opening the floor to current and former Babarians to do a technical /psychological /physiological breakdown of this sleeping giant so we can stop this free fall.

Nothing can be done

He is done and dusted

Maybe make it a condition that youth cricket is linked to education in a similar way to the US with their sports college scholarships. I know some of the bigger football teams in Scotland have set up connections between their academies and local schools to try and replicate something similar, nowhere near as impressive as the US though.

It has to do with the type of culture and environment our society has, and the players come from that same society.

There is a lack of education, mismanagement at the grassroots level, non-merit-based selections, a lack of professionalism, and a prevailing “jugaar” mindset.

As a result, when a player reaches the international team, he is not a finished product and often lacks the modern skills required in today’s game.

But sir he is king

He is untouchable

There is no way a team can hope to win with Babar playing anywhere in the top 4. He is in woeful form and his lack of intent sucks all momentum from the innings. He doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the team in any format.
oh bhai woeful ''form'' does not last 4 years. People need to check how his TEST career progressed and that he actually is done!

Saim doesn’t need to chase anything the way Rizwan did and become blacklisted as a T20 player.
He will become blacklisted with consistent failures when he is primarily known as a opening batsman. One of the most important positions in T20 cricket as they score the bulk of your runs

Rizwan fans don’t need to give us their definition of what a T20 opener should be doing.

Thanks.

Rizwan has a T20 player of the year award plus many other records in the format. But it is fine, let your favourite players have zero performances just to keep out players you dislike. It is only going to cause upset to you guys in the long run

He’s morphed into an “allrounder” to hide his failure . Shadab, Shaheen, Nawaz, Agha etc have all used this trick. At what point does PCB confront this ugly culture of fake allrounders?

He is finished. I mean look at his physique. He already has a dad body. Even when he plays shots..he does not look stylish or elegant anymore.
