Not that he doesnt have experience of big scores, seems to have the technique but gets out in Tests when you think he has done all the hard work.

Babar is doing just fine....Let him be.....
He will eventually get there and score that maiden ton, while once he gets the ball rolling he's talented and committed enough to pick up and score big after that...
We have to be patient.
The only thing I'm worried about with Babar Azam is he's only scored 2 FC hundreds in 36 matches. He needs to kick on once he gets set - as mentioned above maybe he needs one big knock before the floodgates open.
I'd prefer to see him at 4 with Haris at 3 in the future just to cushion him a bit more against the new ball.
Why should we throw these youngsters at the deep end from the word go? am not sure that is ideal for their development, given the investment in Shafiq and with him being a senior member it would make sense for him to bat at no.3, Babar at no.4 (given his international exposure compared to Haris) and Harris at no.5
Azhar Ali
Sami Aslam
Asad Shafiq
Babar Azam
Haris Sohail
Shafiq's lack of consistency has ruined our line up but in the ideal scenario that is the line up you'd want. Regardless of conditions and opponent quality, batting at no.3 in Test Cricket is not a walk in the park for a rookie who like you say has only played 36 FC games and is 22 years old; yes he is a highly rated prospect and has experience from the U19 days but it won't make the Test level any easier. Asad Shafiq made his debut at no.6 and has been cushioned there for a long time, he needs to stand up.
Anyhow am backing Babar to do well with more experience and the gamble with Azhar Ali paid off in the past when we slotted him in at no.3 but we can't do that with every player and it would be unfair on Haris; new kid shows up on the block and we're like you're batting at no.3 now lad and just to make you feel better if you flop there are only two words we have to say about that......Sami Aslam.
Lack of concentration and abit of a lack of hunger to dig in at times when going gets tough. As soon as he gets bogged down he tries to look for shots that arent there, this is where his batting partner needs to help him by talking to him, rotating strike as these are two areas which would help massively.
Still think he is too green to be given the test number three position. With openers like Shan Masood, our number three would be coming in with hardly an over bowled. Babar should have been blooded in at 5 or 6 in test matches.
In any case as Markhor mentioned, he does not have a stellar FC record and we are getting a continuation of the same in test matches. Can't expect someone to average 30 odd in domestics and 50 odd in internationals, it doesn't work that way.
