What is wrong with Indian selectors?

Indian selectors are continously selecting TTFs while teams all over the world such as England, Australia, Pakistan etc. are giving chances to youngsters.

England just in this series has selected Curran, Pope, Porter.

Pakistan's backbone is based on young players since Champions Trophy and they just recently inducted Shaheen Shah Afridi in the team

While SSA gets to be in the international squad, his colleagues such as Gill and Shaw are being wasted and not even made part of the squad.

Failures like Pujara, Dhawan are selected for test squad and hopes are laid on false heroes like Pandaya, KL Rahul.

Pant is being wasted while Karthik has not shown much of value since his debut in 2004.

The indian selectors are doing a great disservice to their fans by avoiding top talents like Gill, Shaw.

What do fans think the reason could and if it is right?

Don't agree completely to this thread, though the team performance has been good if not phenomenal there is no need to chop and change. Yes guys like Shaw and Gill could be given a try in upcoming tours if some guys fail miserably.

Exactly. You guys keep playing trundlers like Shardul, Pandya and others while not even giving a chance to exciting talents like Nagarkoti, Mavi, Khaleel and Co.

India plays SO much LOI and Test cricket yet there are hardly ever any new face in the side. Old faces like Jaddu, Yuvi, DK, Parthiv, Raina, Gambhir keep making comebacks upon comebacks. It's embarrassing.

Not if Virat is still the captain , Dhawan and Rohit will not go anywhere , Virat is fixed at no3 and all these youngsters are top order batsmen . Pant will get in once Dhoni retires after WC , thats it for next 4-5 years

I cant see Dhoni playing after WC. He has to go. But he will be the one to call it off by himself. So, if he goes, then we have 4,5 and 6 empty.

Gill is a top order batsmen but just like Kohli started from 4-5 and it was after retirement of SRT and Sehwag that he made no.3 his own position, Gill has to bat at 5 till that time.

Pakistan in the Misbah, Waqar era did that and we saw how our performance dropped so massively. However, Pakistan has been historically known for giving youngsters a chance. Amir, Wasim, Inzi, Shaheen Shah etc. You can see a pattern across different eras.

Why does Virat needs to move his position? Virat arrived in the team as a number 5 and proved his worth in that position as well and moved up.

Why not try Pant in tests?

Indian Selectors decided on this set of players about a decade ago. they were suppose to form the core of Indian team until 2020 atleast. In their eyes these were the players who would go on to win ICC events and dominate teams in bilateral test series.

Unfortunately, under Kohli captaincy, we might only get to see Shaw once Rohit and Dhawan both are gone. While these two may be past their prime by 2020, I think like most Indian players, they will retire only after 2023 WC. Indian players dont retire that easily.

Shaw has been in brilliant form. He seems to score a century whenever he bats.

Can't imagine he is not in T20 side at least.
