What's new

What phrase or saying really bothers you?

"TLDR" - find that very disrespectful.

I detest the word "hater" as well - esoecially when folks on the internet use it to anyone who makes even constructive criticisms of something or something one.

"It is what it is" and while it is sometimes, I don't like the defeatist mentality.

Life's too short, so stop living in the stone age. Then again, you know your rights, so keep living in the stone age. It is what it is, and there's nothing I can do about it.

"Just sayin," in effect suggesting that the words that preceded the "just sayin," invariably of an offensive variety, did not have any intrinsic meaning, they were just words. Which they weren't.

"Don't take this the wrong way, but..." What follows can usually only be taken the wrong way.

'Curiousty killed the cat' but I've hit many cats with my car when they run into the road (not on purpose) but none died...as far as Im aware.

When people call your ideas "conspiracy theories" while their whack conspiracy theories are just "facts".

Thank you. I thought I was the only one who despised that saying. Literally every second person I meet uses this saying, my best friend loves to use it too. That was going to be #1 for me.

Now I will wait for someone to say they hate phrases starting with "Literally..."

Also dislike "No offense". How about you say what you want and let me decide if I want to take offense. And if you want to say something offensive, just say it, why use no offense as a crutch?

To be honest or honestly means that the person lies frequently to you already and needs to say outright that they're being honest.

"Don't judge me" (over a simple advice out of good intentions)

"You haven't done it yourself so you shouldn't comment" (absolutely loathe this one)

"What will people say" (lol)

adding a couple more

"sab theek ho jaye ga" and "jo bhi hota hai achay kay liye hi hota hai"

"Freedom of speech does not give you the right to insult religion." - Yes it does, you idiot. No one needs specific free speech laws to praise their mother's Aloo Qeema and Chicken Karahi. Free speech protections exist (in the few places where they do) to protect exactly the kind of speech that is likely to offend.

"Liberal extremism is just as bad as religious extremism." - No. Just... no. There's no comparison. This is a favorite of the religious right.

"but...but...but...but" - You can bet your house, car and bank balance that something completely brain-dead will follow the fourth "but".

"This is what the majority wants and since it's a democracy.... " - Unless we're talking about Switzerland, most democracies are republics that have checks and balances in place to prevent the majority from instituting mob rule.

"The world has become too politically correct" usually from some whining white, male Baby Boomer who wishes the world could return to the days when everyone was as racist as he was and when the blacks/women/minorities knew their place.

If political correctness is annoying (and yes it can be sometimes), what's more annoying is people whining ceaselessly about it.

Actually, there's a reason why you shouldn't call blacks the N word or homosexuals the F word. If you're a comedian who relies that kind of material - you're a garbage comedian who should find some better material.

Being "anti PC" has become the rallying cause for the alt-right to justify their poorly concealed hatred, new age racism and bigotry.
