Fakhars getting a quick ton in the semis to make up for this. He’s clearly struggling. Haider Ali could’ve relaxed him today but idk, it’s just Pakistan crickets.

I reiterate
If he isn’t opening, it is better to play Haider Ali instead at number 3

Fakhar came in the 6th over today . He had plenty of time , yes he is best suited to opener but he can play a role @3. Unfortunately apart from the Afg game he has just not got going .
Today he cut two wide balls to a fielder and then slogged across the line and got out . Was no real need for that shot . Had he batted the full 20 overs would have definitely made up .
What we also need to remember is fakhar averages 48 in one day internationals, with some mammoth scores so he should be able to score when the field is out .
He is a big match player, still think he will turn up for the knockouts.
Fakhar Zaman should be opening, if Pakistan are preparing for the next T20 world cup. They will need a aggressive opener.
You can thank Misbah for totally messing this up with the promotion of Rizwan to open
Fakhar is probably the better #3 than all the other options. He tends to struggle against the moving ball which results in him getting the outside edge occasionally. Contrary to the popular belief, he bludges spinners for example the SA tour earlier this year or the CT final. Yes, he's not the most consistent batsman around but if he can settle in at #3 like he has a couple of innings, he can up the tempo very quickly.
Wouldn't send Fakhar at 3 if a wicket falls in the powerplay. He should be given a license to attack here. He looks out of sorts against spinners when he is defending.
I think Fakhar should play as a floater. Send him at 3 if Pak loses wicket inside powerplay. Else, use him as a powerhitter in last 5 overs like KKR utilizes Russel.
Take a day off mate, seriously.
Shouldn't move Rizwan and Babar from opening they are settled. Fakhar should bat at 3, Haider at 4.
You don't mess with a genuine batter by floating him. Let him bat at 3 and play at his pace. Let Hafeez, Malik, Shadab, Imad float lower order and practice their hitting.
Think 3 is perfect for him.
Ideally Fakhar should come out with the field spread and the spinners into the attack, thus he can have a few balls to get his eye in and then can take the attack to the opposition.
Hopefully he can pick up some good advice from Hayden
I might be in the minority here but I think 4 is a good number for him.
Would love Fakhar to open BUT Rizwan should stick to opening and Fakhar should bat at 3.
People need to get there heads in order . The reason why Rizwan began opening was because Fakhar caught COVID before the New Zealand tour , as a result what I think was initially a “short sharp fix” actually resulted in being a master stroke as Rizwan has been churning on the runs and I believe has the highest T20 runs in an international calendar and at a cracking average and a good SR.
This is no politician decision or whatever . Would I have Fakhar opening in an ideal world , yes I would , but this is not fantasy , this is a results oriented business and the stats speak for them selves . Let’s just lay off Rizwan .
Oh and by the way Fakhar is my favourite player, but a lot of people are putting their personal likes and dislikes ahead of logic and what is best for team Pak.
Number 3
1) Babar
2) Rizwan
3) Fakhar
4) Haider
5) Malik
6) Hafeez
7) Imad
8) Shadab
9) Hasan
10) Shaheen
11) Fahim
In current scheme of things I think fakhar is going to be at #3, and his success depends on the start given by openers
Fakhar’s batting position has changed far to much in t20s in the last year. He needs to stick at 3. He looked great in the warm ups and whilst it was a scratchy innings he is never far away from playing a blinder.
He has a poor record against Afghanistan and could well struggle , but with easier games to follow he has the ability and pedigree to really raise his game for the knockout matches .
He’s also a gun fielder.
Don't need to chop and change. He was imperious batting at #3 in the warm up games, keep a stable position and back him just after one poor performance.
I would rather Fakhar go after the spin than just settle to play the spinner out
Maybe Haider Ali for him, but do you want to tinker with your winning combination for the semi finals?
Should bat at 3 and needs to find gaps for the first 10 balls.
Ab Khush ho saare?

Saqlain also dismissed suggestions of a left-right opening combination of Fakhar Zaman with either Babar or Rizwan.
