What fiasco are we talking about? The fact that Asia Bib was sentenced to death is the only fiasco we should be worried about
the fiasco regarding how a party called TLP, who's only purpose of existence is to fight blasphemy, took the whole country hostage the 4th time

That is not a fiasco - that is how vocal minorities work around the world. If you wish to solve this problem, give Imran Khan time to settle in, get your economics sorted out and when people have jobs to go to, you will note that no one will have time to sit around with TLP etc

Khadim Rizvi himself had a govt job, and he left that job to give more time to TLP.
When Mumtaz Qadri died, the Janaza was soo big that there were people spread out till a mile. Not all of them were berozgar. Even my second cousins who have jobs attended that janaza
If we want to fix this whole mess by going deep into the grass roots, its not possible. Especially by a political govt like Imran's.
Because to do that you need to promote a secular ideology.
Its not about how educated you are, its about how rational the population is when it comes to knowledge. Most of the Pakistanis live in mohalla cultures where the environment is such that our thinking is based upon what we have heard from others.
I have family members who have done masters and are very religious, yet the guy who has done masters doesn't eat or drink any thing that is offered from a shia and promotes that Ahmedis should be exterminated. And one member who is very religious, believes in prophets sunnah, the guy does money laundering for someone and even does umrah on that money.
This was a fiasco! You cannot deny that. CIty taken hostage for what? FOr something soo irrational.
The Govt of PMLN, PTI and The army are the ones who have made TLP strong. When you bow down to their requests, these groups get a sense of empowerment, that ok they could get things change.
Each time we bend over, their image not only grows among the follower, but even the leader who wasn't that confident feels that he could get things done like this.
Mushraffe dealted with the Lal Masjid folks in the right manner. But what was his fault? He let them grow, he didnot take action at the intial stage when it was growing.
Imran is repeating the same problem. If he takes action maybe 5-8 years down the road, by that time TLP will have been grown soo big that any action taken will end up being Imran's downfall..
If Imran had taken action right now, or even Nawaz Sharifs govt had done so, the damage would not had been that greater. Imran's biggest mistake was joining TLP against PMLN govt. THis empowered them further.
This is just the beginning, just wait and see what happens next. Imran is only buying time, he isn't solving the main issue here

Other government had the same issues, they didn't go and say we were bankrupt and have no money. They didn't bend over to Saudi and China and say we have no money. They didn't surrender to terrorists. They didn't assure TLP that their curriculum would be added to textbooks

Those who destroyed property, spread propaganda during protests will be prosecuted: interior ministry
The interior ministry announced on Saturday it would register cases against all those "miscreants who under the guise of peaceful protests caused destruction to property and harmed helpless citizens" during the three-day protests against the acquittal of Asia Bibi.
In a statement, the ministry said it respects the ulema's stance that they had no involvement in any of the destruction which they too had attributed to "miscreant elements".
Steps are being taken to identify these miscreants, the statement added.
The ministry also said the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) cybercrime wing and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) have both been directed to investigate propaganda circulated on social media to incite hate.
Additionally, the chairman of the cybercrime wing along with the PTA chairman have been instructed to obtain "the forensic data of the miscreants".
"The interior ministry will also initiate criminal proceedings against all those who spread extremist and hateful propaganda on social media," the statement said.
To this end, all camera footage will be analysed so these individuals can be identified.
"All the miscreant elements identified will be arrested and cases registered against them," the ministry has stated.
The Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and other religiopolitical parties had launched countrywide protests on Wednesday after the Supreme Court acquitted Asia Bibi, who had been on death row for the past nine years on blasphemy charges.
Last night, the government and the TLP had signed a deal to conclude the latter's nationwide protest. One of the concessions the government agreed to was to release all people picked up in connection with the protests starting October 30.
Sindh Police to take 'strict action' in future
Meanwhile, the Sindh Police have decided to take strict action and register First Information Reports (FIRs) against ‘illegal’ sit-ins, protests and rallies on roads and highways in future because of the hardships such activities cause to citizens, who remain stuck in traffic jams for hours.
This decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Syed Kaleem Imam on Saturday at Central Police Office.
“Whatever happened during the last five days... I feel great regret over it,” the provincial police chief was quoted as having said in the meeting.
“If any rally or protest is taken out anywhere in Sindh for whatever cause, be it against a lack of civic facilities or any other issue, without seeking mandatory permission from the district administration and other authorities, strict action would be taken against the organisers of such protests,” the IG vowed.
Similarly, protests on highways and the Lyari Expressway will not be allowed as such rallies trigger prolonged traffic jams.
“Sharea Faisal will not be allowed to be blocked at any cost in the future,” the IG declared.
In an apparent reference to the current law and order situation in the country, IG Imam directed all Additional IGs, DIGs and other officers to put anti-riots and reserve platoons on red alert to meet any eventuality.
A senior official privy to the meeting told Dawn on condition of anonymity that police authorities have decided to register cases against the organisers of this week's sit-ins over charges of riots and damaging property on behalf of the state or on the complaints of aggrieved persons whose properties were damaged.
The officer pointed out that Korangi police station had already registered a case on a complaint of the watchman of a factory in the area, after around 15-16 protesters tried to ‘forcibly’ shut the industrial unit and resorted to riots on Friday.
Two of the protesters have been arrested, the officer revealed.

LAHORE: Punjab police arrested 1,100 suspects till Sunday evening and registered 130 cases against them for their involvement in injuring policemen and people and damaging public and private properties during the protests following the Supreme Court verdict acquitting Aasia Bibi of blasphemy charge.
The crackdown was launched after the interior ministry directed all the provincial governments and federal agencies to take action against the culprits involved in violence and damage to public and private property during the last week protests and sought compliance report till 5pm on Monday (today).
The interior ministry sent first letter in this regard to the provinces on Saturday and followed it up with another office memorandum on Sunday , directing all (provincial governments and federal agencies) to strictly comply with the direction.

Stating that the Ulema had disowned the elements involved in violence, the interior ministry said video clips and photographs should be used to identify the miscreants in coordination with the PTA and Nadra.

The Punjab police spokesperson told Dawn 800 people were arrested for violating section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960 and 300 others under the FIRs registered for injuring policemen, damaging public and private properties and vehicles in different areas of the province.
She said the protesters had injured 63 police officers in different areas of the province who were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Of them, 58 policemen were discharged but five others who had sustained severe injuries were still getting treatment.
She said 300 suspects were identified through different footage available to the police. She said the number of the FIRs and the arrested would increase with the passage of time as the police were taking across-the-board action against the miscreants.
Answering a question, she said most of the arrests had been made from Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi divisions. The Islamabad police registered two FIRs against 25 people.
Interior Minister Shehryar Afridi chaired a meeting in Islamabad on Sunday and took stock of the situation. The meeting asked the provinces that general public should be advised to file/ lodge complaints against such people, share videos and help government in identifying such elements.
The interior ministry also asked all the provincial governments to convey WhatsApp numbers to general public through electronic and print media so that public could send information/ videos that might be referred to relevant departments for necessary action.
Phoolnagar police in Kasur registered cases against 348 protesters of the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), including 48 nominated, under various sections including section 7 of the Anti Terrorism Act.
The TLP activists had allegedly attacked police force on Friday on Multan Road at Jamber Chowk and injured six personnel, including a DSP, an inspector and four constables. The protesters had also damaged six police vehicles, an ambulance of Rescue 1122 and several vehicles stuck on Multan Road due to road blockade.
According to the FIR lodged on the complaint of Phoolnagar SHO Muhammad Azam, 48 nominated including four local prayer leaders and 300 unidentified agitators had attacked police when the later tried to prevent them from delivering anti-judiciary and anti-state speeches.
Receiving information, Pattoki circle DSP Muhammad Saleem along with a heavy contingent of police reached the spot.
The protesters who wielded weapons and clubs went violent and attacked the police. The protesters used clubs against police officials and pelted them with stones.
The FIR said the protesters also kidnapped two police constables Jahangir and Iqbal. Most of the nominated accused belonged to Kot Tank Singh village. Four local prayer leaders — Qari Nazar Imam, Mufti Naveed, Zainul Hassan and Qari Abdul Shakoor — were also nominated in the FIR. Police said additional force had been deployed in Phoolnagar and raids were on to arrest the accused.
In Gujranwala, police registered cases against nine identified and 2,500 unidentified people for thrashing citizens, damaging government and private properties and looting people on roads.
The Kotwali police DSP told Dawn video clips had been sent to the interior ministry to identify the culprits.
In Sindh, Nawabshah police booked two activists of TLP for resorting to aerial firing and forcing businessmen to close shops.
An FIR was lodged at A-Section police station against Bilal Arain and Sabir Arain under sections 147, 148 and 337 H II of the Pakistan Penal Code for carrying out aerial firing and forcing traders to shut their shops. The police arrested both the accused.
Similar cases were also registered in Karachi.
