He needs to score heavy in domestics if he wants to make a comeback. And not just a pretty fifty and a hundred in consecutive games (or some small sample size like that) but consecutive seasons of scoring fifties and hundreds left, right and center; the expectations are very high for him and he's had enough chances to establish himself into the team. That being said, I actually do see him making a comeback perhaps a few years down the line (at least post WC), whether we like it or not.
Regarding needing another dynamic batsman, lets just see how Asif Ali fares in the Asia Cup, Aus, NZ, SA LOIs. Also, how Pakistan use Faheem Ashraf as a batsman (I really believe they could get much more out of him if he bats up the order).
Also, looking at the score after Zaman's wicket in the CT17 final, you gotta take into account our lack of power hitters in the lower order, which included Imad, Shadab and Sarfraz. Sarfraz could get you some boundaries, Shadab maybe some boundaries as well (although at the time we didn't really know how he'd fare), and Imad, apart from that 6 off of Kedhar Jhadav I think it was, is a complete dud with the bat. Also take into account India's quicks were bowling pretty decent death overs.
