What target would Australia have in their mind to set for Pakistan?

500 looks more likely.

Or maybe, they will play it little extra safe and push it towards 575-600 considering the Triple Centurion Azhar Ali could have a good outing.

Australia could declare now and still win.

Although they would look to bat till dinner and then put Pakistan to bat under lights again.

Target doesn't matter. They wanna put us in to bat under lights. Probably gonna declare 10 overs into the third session today

I think they are already in a position to win. Now its about demoralizing Pakistan for the next matches.

What's the hurry? Keep on batting till the target is out of Pakistan's reach ( 550-600) because even then they will have enough overs to have a go at Pakistani batters.

I think it will also depend upon whether an Aussie batsman is closer to a ton, in case where declaration and set target could increase by around 25 runs.

They'll just make us bat under lights again. They probably already have more than enough runs.

Lol @ Azhar Ali threat, yeah am sure the Aussie are in two minds about when to declare only because of that.

The best thing about this is that when India or England don't enforce the follow-on with a big 1st innings lead we are subjected to endless fantastical garbage remarks about defensive cricket, cowardly captaincy, how 'teh ruthless Aussies would have made them follow on, da champion playa Aussies, they stamp their opponents into DUST' - and yet in reality when faced with this scenario Australia just do the exact same thing as everyone else.

Thankfully we never have such quandaries to ponder.

They will put Pak to bat under lights today itself.

Hence, they are eyeing for 500 total before they declare.

Actually now they can look a little further and get to 550+ and then declare.

Part of the reason Australia are still batting I think is to give the crowd something to watch. Afterall it is the highest crowds outside an Ashes match. Would be a shame if it ended in 3 days. If that wasn't a concern, think Australia might have even enforced the follow on.

Oh poor James, now kids I want you to stop bullying James when England don't enforce the follow on.

Australia will look to hit 600 because they are scared of Younis Khan and his potential triple century.

450 is more than enough, they have batted much longer than they needed to.

LMAO Maddison getting roasted on twitter :)))

First innings he faced a ball. 2nd he scored a run. 3rd he hit a boundray. Double figures in Melbourne next week is a big possibility.

They can declare now. They have enough runs and they will have good bowling conditions if they declare now.
