Its bitter - and I admit my mum used to force us to eat it.

But there are ways of cooking it so that it tastes edible - with keema!

Some karelay (pictured yesterday) about to meet their timely death...

Met a couple of mates and had a small piece of their special cake

Salmon fillets lightly fried in a masala mix - so so hot! With some potatoes sauted in olive oil.

Made by yours truly!

I've deleted the posts on 'whats halal and whats not halal' on this thread because it was predicatbly hijacked.

Again - if someone wants to justify eating non-halal food and gloat about it, then set up your own thread on it and take the consequences of that!!!

At least you could have set up another thread with the comments in it rather than deleting it completely.

Has - unfortunately a number of threads have been 'hijacked' in this way. Hence my simple request. If someone wants to justify why they wish to consume non-halal stuff - and be happy about doing so, then at least have the balls to set up their own thread - not just infiltrate other threads.

Has, there has been numerous debates on what is halal and what is not...This Mona person who justifies eating Haram food with her explinations topic has been beaten to death and doesn't warrant a mention on Oxy's pavithra thread.....

Spot on.....Oxy we all can remember what happened to Mona justifying eating poutine and other sort of haram stuff in that thread...

I just think that expecting a thread to stay on the same discussion all the time is limiting good discussion, I agree that it shouldn’t have happened in this case but I think OXY should have at least warned people first, or even started a new thread with the existing posts.

It doesn’t matter if its been debated again, after all this is a discussion forum and some member are new, or some may now have different insights, I just get the feeling that on this website the mods are too keen to regulate what everyone should talk about.

I love OXY like a round bellying uncle, but I don’t think he handled this situation the best.

Sort of back on topic...
I went to the gym today.

Had a chat with the instructor about the different types of machinary and what it does. Then I leant up against a piece of equipment, and watched the 2nd half of Watford v Leeds on their satellite system.

One step at a time eh boys?

That's what the search button is for so you can view old threads :21:

Has - you may/may not have seen a thread on 'Pakistans internet habits' this week - if not, I suggest you have a read of it to see whether or not serious discussion was stifled by the mods or not.

The issue we have here has been discussed ad-nauseum by thge team - and as Zushy has hinted, there is some 'history' behind it...

Again, if someone wishes to gloat about consumption of non-halal foodstuffs, then set up a new thread (thats not my job to do), and clearly state their beliefs and not hide behind the facade of another thread.

Just need some clarification.

Why is their a stigma attached to Beef in Pakistan? Back home, entire villages gossip if someone serves beef (vadaa gosht)

Maybe it’s the Hindu back ground fighting back.

To tell you the truth, I've never heard of that....My mom only cooks beef once a month because of it's adverse effects if eating it too much......

I think its snobbery - beef is regarded as inferior meat (cheaper)

Whereas in the West/Mid East, its viewed with 'equality'.

Only had beef once - about 6 yrs ago.

You could be right.....In Hinduism though, the cow is revered as they beleive it has spiritual qualities and a god.....

I dont think it has anything to do with Hiduism - I was on a PIA flight in 1995, and this one stuck up Pak from UK was kicking up a fuss over the food i.e 'ye barhaa gosht hai'?? Who cares!
