BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today announced a revised match schedule for the upcoming “Osaka Presents PSO Carient T20 Cup” between the West Indies and Pakistan in the Caribbean.

A four-match T20 International (T20I) series, has been agreed, scheduled to start on Wednesday, July 28 at Kensington Oval, Barbados. The first ball is 10am (9am Jamaica Time) for the first match, with the final three to be played at the Guyana National Stadium on Saturday, July 31; Sunday, August 1 and Tuesday, August 3 at 11am (10am Jamaica Time).

The adjustment to the Osaka Presents PSO Carient T20 Cup schedule was necessary due to the changes to the fixtures for the ongoing CG Insurance One-Day International (ODI) Series between West Indies and Australia, which are part of the International Cricket Council’s ODI Super League, which concludes on Monday, July 26.

Ricky Skerritt, CWI President said: “Together with the PCB, CWI have examined various scenarios, and we jointly agreed that the best solution in the present circumstances is to cancel the first T20I and play a four-match T20I series starting on Wednesday and keep the rest of the tour schedule unchanged. We want to express our gratitude to the PCB Chairman, Ehsan Mani and CEO, Wasim Khan, and the Pakistan team for their understanding in this situation and for agreeing to the revised match schedule. Both teams are in the final stages of preparing for the ICC T20 World Cup, so we anticipate an exciting and entertaining series of games as both teams compete for Osaka Presents PSO Carient T20 Cup.”

West Indies, the two-time World Champions (2012 and 2016), are using this series as part of their build-up to the next ICC T20 World Cup which will be played from October 17 to November 14 in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. They enter the series on the back of a 4-1 triumph over Australia in the recent CG Insurance T20Is at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia. Pakistan won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2009.

Following the Osaka Presents PSO Carient T20 Cup, West Indies and Pakistan will then play two Betway Test matches at Sabina Park in Jamaica from August 12-16 and then from August 20-24. This is the first Test Series for the West Indies in the new 2021-2023 ICC World Test Championship.

Oh no!

Sad to see just 4 games in the Osaka Presents PSO Carient T20 Cup.

Would have been brilliant if we had 5 games in the Osaka Presents PSO Carient T20 Cup.

But still really looking forward to the Osaka Presents PSO Carient T20 Cup.

Think WI are favorites to win the Osaka Presents PSO Carient T20 Cup.

This is a no brainer when the gap between the last T20 game and test match is nine days... Could've easily accomodated that lost game in those days.

The issue seems to be related to a reluctance to rearrange the weekend fixtures in Guyana. They can't push too close to the start of the test series as those matches are to be held in Jamaica, which should have specific quarantine bubble requirements.

I am not sure but I guess both teams will play a practice match during the 9 days gap.

Good for us. With current form WI will whitewash us in T20 and ODI.

I think it will be 2-2 and am sure both squads will be happy with that

On another note seems like our economy is doing better these days as we are having our pakistani companies sponsor even tours to other countries. Didn't use to happen as much in the decades past, unless you go really far back when they used to be all sponsored by cigarette companies. Willis kings, Benson and hedges, etc.

Truly unfortunate.

WI vs Pak will be interesting and fun.

WI are mercurial and Pak are unpredictable.

I expect Pak to do a clean sweep though because they somehow bring their best when they aren't expected to. But yeah do think the games will be quite close.

The WI side doesn't look that strong.

They've got the batting, but who are the bowlers?

The Aus side they beat was mostly a B or C side, aside from Finch, Starc and Zampa.

If the right team is played, then Pak should win the series 3-1.

Misbah will play an unchanged playing XI in the Osaka Presents PSO Carient T20 Cup thanks to his stubbornness as a coach/player/individual.

Hazlewood and Agar(In T20s) are regular for Aus, so other than Cummins their bowling attack was full strength. WI completely dominated Aus.

If this is Aus' regular bowling attack, then they are absolutely trash.

Only Starc, Zampa and Cummins I'd worry about, heck even the current Starc is struggling, so basically Aus don't have much bowling either.

Pakistan should look to go one up in the series opener - all about momentum!

Ok I didnt expect rain!

So a 3 match series now.

Heavy Rain predicted for all T20 matches vs West Indies

Seems like rain will play spoilsport in all three remaining matches of the T20 series. Will be a big blow for the T20 WC preparations of Pakistan.

Get rid of the test matches and play the t20s instead if it's not part of the test championship

Don’t think the sponsors and the broadcasters would be happy about that. Losing 2 five day test matches for 2 T20’s.

Next game is likely to be washed out too, some good news for Misbah fans - whitewashed West Indies in the T20i series can now be added to his CV

It would be interesting to see how much they make on tests compared to t20s.but your your right they proberly won't be happy.
