What would a Pakistani cricketer have to achieve to be considered for an IPL contract?

Asking for a friend.

If Babar Azam, for Eg, was batting at a SR of 140-150 consistently at his current t20 average, would he be bought by any IPL teams?

Would an IPL team manager potentially risk his own well being as a citizen of India by extending a contract to a match winning Pakistani player?

On one hand the manager would be under public scrutiny, but on the other hand he would have this, let’s say, imaginary match winner with the bat and/or ball.

Would it be worth the risk?

Only way Babar can play IPL is by shifting his base to some other country like Imran Tahir, and Azhar Mahmood. Imran Tahir played 8 seasons.

highly unlikely for a Pakistani batsman to get a contract in IPL. if it wasn't for politics (or player gets another country citizenship), then Haris and Shaheen could get contracts, and possibly Shadab due to all-round ability in batting/bowling/fielding.

Ipl has not been effective in actually producing results for india when it matters

Out of the current lot, Babar, Rizwan, Afridi, and Harris would easily get an IPL contract. Babar, will do well in IPL and Indian fans would love to watch. Sad these guys are missing out.

For goodness sake ... take your head out of Indian cricket's rear end !!
At least have some shame ... they don't wanna spit at your face, and you are hell bent giving them blow job.

I agree with you.

Its sad that so called Pakistani fans dont see the disrespect. They dont see the discrimination and they still dream that after soo much disrespect our players feature in IPL.

Pakistani players do not get selected due to dirty politics. Nothing to do with cricket ability sadly.

IPL owners have enough money that they can buy Pak players and bench them entire season. I don't know why the idiots are not doing this..this would have been even more demoralising for Pak fans than not picking Pak players at all

Won't happen obviously but would be nice. I doubt Babar will be a top pick. Rauf and Shaheen will go for a million bucks each. Rizwan and Babar in the 300 to 400k range. IPL teams have plenty of Indian opening batsmen so the demand is less unless you are a Jos Butler. Shadab will be another that can fetch close to half a mil.

Fast bowlers, impact players, all rounders someone who has done well against India recently. They bag more

Chris Morris 2.25 million USD
Flintoff 1.55 million USD
Kevin pietersen 1.55 million USD
Maxwell 1 million USD

Sometimes if your name comes up at the right time you can make a million in no time. You are right. Rauf would have atleast made 800k.

Can't do anything. Indian's, IPL franchise owners will deliberately not hire Pakistani players even if they are worth $2-3 million in performances. Indians are hell bent on isolating Pakistani players from life changing sums of money.

I m just sick and tired of this ridiculous threads. Why are you making fool of yourself.
Hey mods please delete this thread.

It's really embarrassing. Just stop it.

We can blame the GOI, BJP etc. Yet in 2009; Pakistan blocked its players from playing in the IPL over "safety concerns". Also the PCB sued the BCCI in 2017/2018. I am not sure, even if the Government Of India was indifferent; the BCCI would not find some other reason. Also to those who say sports and cultural exchanges should not be affected; Pakistan withdrew from the Chess Olympiad, over its torch relay going through Kashmir. The reality is; the IPL is an economic activity, cricket at this level is big business. Pakistan cannot try to restrict economic activity in other domains, but try to increase it in cricket due to financial benefits. I might be wrong; but until trade and economic relations are normalized; I do not see cricket relations being normalized.

Have some Shame you’ve got a cricket board who wants you wipes out & you want to play with them !!

2nd you on that... if any of our players show even remote interest for ipl, kick them out of our system, tell them to get indian citizenship... simple as that...
