Minute silence for all liverpool fans around the world after yet another pathetic home loss.

This was supposidly the greatest team in PL history according to them. Instead a huge dose of reality that outside there best 11 players there squad isnt great.

Chelsea are a top side, losing to them isnt the end of the world.

I still back LFC to get top 4, plenty of matches to go.

Even playing not well, we are still in the Champions League, should be in the last 8.

Its not a terrible season, the reason for the hype is because Liverpool dominated along with City for the last 3 years or so.

Utd cant beat a top 6 side, Arsenal are 10th, Villa are just above average, Spurs aint winning anything. You;d rather be a LFC fan over any of these teams.

Wow shows how much the "greatest team in PL" history has fallen if your now comparing the team to villa, spurs and Arsensl.

Supposodly liverpool were going run away with PL title again this season.

Just like indian cricket fans, liverpool fans get carried away to quickly proclaiming greatness then make excuse or start comparing themslves to lesser teams all of sudden to make themselves feel better.

Who is ‘them’? Maybe a minority?

Arsenal & Villa fans are here rejoicing like their teams are world beaters.

Liverpools fans always knew the squad lacks depth. But what Klopp achieved with the resources he has at he’s disposal is remarkable. Can’t take that away from him.

Arsenal fans arent rejoycing as world beaters. We know the teams in rebuilding phase yet the mighty liverpool are just a few places higher in the league.

Shows how poor liverpool have become in 9 months if your now comparing urself to arsenal team in transition.

Even as bad as Arsenal are now we havent losted 6 home PL games in a row :)))

:)))

Every team is a top side when they beat you, but when your middle of the table and losing againt Fulham, its the end of the world.

great to see your comparing yourself to Villa and spurs now and not MC :))) how times change

btw. we havnt lost a game to any side in the top 6 this season, nor did you dominate for 3 years or so, you were scrapping top4 just about on the last day of the seasons, til 2 seasons ago, so now its back to reality for you guys

Technically, ManU have beaten 3 teams in top 6 now i.e. West Ham, Everton and Man C.

Yes, they have been poor at not winning against bottom-ranked teams like West Brom, Crystal Palace, Liverpool etc and is one of the reasons that they are 2nd at the moment.

Who said Villa is a world beating side having just been promoted? they are doing well after a difficult return to the PL with positive scope for improvement, however despite that they have made Liverpool look like the team who has been in the championship last season :yk and what’s worse their scumbag fans can’t accept how dog sh!t they have become, majority of their fans outside the benefit scroungers in Liverpool are glory hunting uncle toms, feel some sort of entitlement for confirming with the rest despite growing up in city’s which have a proud footballing legacy.

Some of you guys take this stuff too seriously :misbah

I wouldn’t take it serious anymore either when I get smashed by Fulham after winning the Pl and doing a bhangra over it as if my old man got married again :)))

Liverpool fans will use the excuse of injuries but their attackers and midfielders have been fit for a majority of the season and they don’t look like scoring. Something is clearly wrong with the team more than just injuries.

I think its a combination of multiple factors the injuries in defence havent helped at all but u can see a lot of their defeats havent been due to a leaky defence. It has been due to a total inability to be able to score and break teams down. So i wouldnt give Liverpool a free pass due to the defensive injuries if they were losing games 3-2 and 4-3 then u could argue that. But they are losing 1 or 2 nil n looking impotent.

It shows how much VVD elevated the rest of the defenders and without his leadership they look a bit lost. His ability allowed the 2 full backs to bomb on because he could always cover for them with his speed and strength in a way no other Liverpool CB can. TAA has been exposed defensively this season without VVD to cover him and hes not offering the same creativity this season. Him or Robertson.

Truth be told Liverpool havent been quite the same since Watford i think mentally this group of players peaked after winning the title and they cant get themselves up for another challenge. Not surprised with the way the media lovers made it seem like they were the only team to ever win a league title. With the multiple documentaries celebrating Klopp n Liverpool like it was the 2nd coming of the Messiah by the BBC Sky Sports C4 etc. Think a lot of the players started to believe the hype that they were the GOAT PL team.

Key players like Mane and Firmino have dipped badly this season in terms of goals and i think the squad needs strengthening and freshening up as they have reached the end of the cycle esp with Klopps intense style it burns players out eventually . Like most top teams do after 3 or 4 seasons either u rebuild with some new players or u get a new manager in.

If Klopp stays im unsure he will be able to get them back to the top unless he gets significant investment which i dont see their owners doing.

Klopp also has shown himself to be tactically inflexible and a bit clueless tbh he has no plan B or formation B has kept persisting with the same thing when its clearly not working. I think other managers would maybe try a different set up or way of playing. Also should have strengthened properly at CB in the summer after selling Lovren.

Klopps conduct also has been poor having a go at journalists tv interviewers, constant moaning exposed himself as a very sore loser and he gets a pass because he smiles a lot.

But definitely one of the worst title defences in the PL Era. Id say Chelsea 2015/16 were just worse as they were 17th after 16 games .

With City United and Chelsea strengthening next year i think Pool could be back challenging for top 4 spaces again.

Spurs above liverpool now. If villa win 2 games in hand over liverpool then liverpool will drop to 9th.

8th now:

4 points behind 4th placed Chelsea who have a game in hand too.

LP would be 9 if all games in hand, had been played.

I guess Kingkhan needs to rethink about top 4 before LP even fail to qualify for europa next season :)))

Not yet, plenty of games to go. Only a couple of wins outside the top 4.

It was a very poor result to lost to Fulham , who are an improving team but we need to start scoring goals.

Champions League has to be the priority, winning it will mean CL football again. Players are returning slowly now.

Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs, Villa or clubs who supporters are on here have not won CL or PL for years. They wont either this season or the next.

City are the best team, losing to Utd wont stop them walking the leauge. LFC are the next and closet rivals who can challenge them, the rest are just making up numbers.

hardly plently, but where are those wins going to come from? top 4 race is over, its likly to end as it is now. LP will be lucky to get top 6

I understand the opptimism, but its over for LP, you have a major rebuilding job to do, a board that doesnt invest and a manager whos fuse has gone.

You will be lucky if you get top 4 next season,

Liverpool's confidence has taken a battering, but the prime reason for their abject season is they've ran out of steam, all klopp teams are aggressive , a mixture of critical injuries has basically exposed the thread bare squad which isn't allowing them to express themselves the way they usually do.

definently out of steam

the high tempo of offensive pressing has left him exposed as a bit of a one trick pony , team looks lost , probably one of the reason why injuries have also mounted is with that high tempo pressing with attacking lines the front 3 are not sharp anymore as well look worn out .

Vvd , matip, gomez , fabinho are big misses in that defensive setup, but atm klopp is the tinker man doesn't know who to play at the back constant chopping and changing

i said before the turn of the year liverpool would struggle to make the top 4 and countless liverpool fans laughed at me, i don't want to start digging out the old threads but boy o boy the last few weeks have been hilarious.

Liverpool to dominate for the next 5-10 years they said, better than invincibles, chelsea mourinho era, utd fergie era multiple times etc etc. This is going to be the worst champions on record, on par with Moyes utd destruction :)) 2 out of the top 3 will leave this season, klopp will go once germany come calling, and it will be another 30 years before another tittle is won again:))

https://talksport.com/football/845385/liverpool-crisis-jurgen-klopp-fans-walk-away/

Liverpool have been declared a ‘club in crisis’ and question marks have been raised over Jurgen Klopp’s future.

Having won the Premier League at a canter last season, the Reds have imploded this term and lost for the SIXTH successive time at Anfield on Sunday – with lowly Fulham the latest team to take three points off the champions.

“There is a crisis at Liverpool,” Perry Groves said on talkSPORT. “They’ve lost all six [home games] and scored two in the last eight at home.

“I don’t think Jurgen Klopp is doing his job properly at the moment. He’s not showing leadership qualities.

“He’s not this gregarious character we’ve all seen before when Liverpool were winning.

“This is where you need to show your leadership skills and you’ve got to be an actor.

“If things aren’t going for you yourself, you’ve got to have a different persona when you go into the training ground and when you’re around your players… you’re the one they rub off on.”

Liverpool fans showed their support for Klopp and the club with a banner being flown over Anfield during the Fulham clash, which read ‘Unity is strength – let’s go Reds YNWA’.

However, Groves insists supporters could soon turn on the German – despite him leading them to their first league title in 30 years last season.

And he reckons Klopp could well decide to walk away if he doesn’t feel he has the backing of the fanbase.

He said: “The owners need to sit down with him and say, ‘have you got the desire and have you got the energy to transform this team?’

“Whether it means selling Mo Salah, getting the money in for him and buying and changing four, five or six of this squad around… he’s got to be honest and say whether he has got the desire and energy.

“If he hasn’t then it’s up to him to decide if he goes or not. If Liverpool fans do start turning against him, he’s the sort of manager that will go ‘if you’re not behind me, I’ll go.’”

I have to admit I thought that Liverpool would be able to defend their title, or at worse finish 2nd.

I know they've had a few injuries, but you don't expect a team of their stature to crumble as they have.

Too many things wrong at the moment and one has to wonder whether Klopp will be at Anfield next season.

See the difference when you play a proper defence line & not a makeshift one? Fab is ruling the midfield. This is where he belongs. Hopefully they can put together a string of wins. Though realistically, top four place is gone.

Good win that against Wolves and I still believe they could make the top 4.

Chelsea have been good but they aren't invincible for that 4th spot in the league.

Looking better. Hopefully this is the start of a good run.

Much better recently.

Still fancy them to finish in the top 4.

And that's the end of the Champions League campaign.

Had their chances tonight, but now they'll just have to try and squeeze into the top 4 in the Premier League.

Biggest problem for Liverpool are the greedy scrooge owners.

American owners are bad news all they care about is money and profit

So willing for a super league and franchising of football.

Should have learnt the lesson with the previous American owners tom and Jerry who nearly bankrupted the club , and then on verge of getting relegated before Kenny Dalglish saved the club for the new owners.
Guaranteed Fenway are better than gillet and hicks , but they will never invest in players like city and Chelsea,
Just look how they are behaving with wijnaldum willing to let him go when he is such a good squad player.

Perhaps as a LFC fan I am blinded but I feel our forwards miss too many chances compared to others. Firmino has been missing and Mane has had a few bad weeks. Jota was looking so good before he got injured at the wrong time causing further damage, Hendo has been missed as well. The decisive factor has been loss of the irreplaceable VVD. The likes of the always injured Keita who I had high hopes for when we signed him has greatly disappointed. The likes of Keita, Ox, Shaqiri, Origi and Milner need to be moved on where as Wijnaldum is also set to leave in the summer adding to the transfer kitty. The famous Anfield crowd has been missed as well throughout the season. We don't need major surgery in the summer yet a few in and out's are certain. I still have full faith in JK sahib:afridi.

Madrid received a hostile reception from a section of Liverpool fans who had gathered outside Anfield before the match.

According to reports, a bottle was thrown at the bus, resulting in a broken window, while stewards were filmed cleaning up glass outside the ground.

Liverpool released a statement condemning the behaviour of those responsible for the damage.

“We condemn unequivocally the actions that led to Real Madrid’s team bus being damaged during its arrival to Anfield this evening. It is totally unacceptable and shameful behaviour of a few individuals,” a Liverpool spokesman said, per The Athletic.

“We sincerely apologise to our visitors for any distress caused. We will work together with Merseyside Police to establish the facts and identify those responsible.”

Merseyside Police also condemned the incident in a strongly-worded statement and confirmed an investigation is under way.

Chief superintendent Zoe Thornton said: “We can confirm an investigation is under way after damage was caused to the Real Madrid team bus this evening, as it approached Anfield Stadium ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League match with Real Madrid.

“Despite the advice to avoid attending the ground, approximately 400 people attended Anfield Road and as coaches approached, a number of items were thrown at the Real Madrid team bus.

Madrid were targeted by Liverpool fans as they arrived

“We are aware of images which show the outer pane of the lead coach window being damaged, the glass did not break through and there are no reported injuries.

“A number of pyrotechnics were also lit in the area, which significantly reduced visibility and could have put other people in danger.

“As with all matches, we have worked very closely with both clubs to ensure the safety of the public and the teams themselves, and the disgraceful behaviour of those involved this evening is extremely disappointing and totally unacceptable.

“Such incidents will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

“A dedicated investigation team will be reviewing CCTV footage from the area, along with our own body worn camera footage, and working closely with the club to identify those responsible.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and captured mobile phone video footage of the incident to please get in touch.”

It isn’t the first time Liverpool fans have targeted the opposition team bus ahead of a Champions League quarter-final at Anfield.

Man City’s vehicle was damaged by bottles and cans hurled at it on its approach to the famous ground ahead of the first leg of their last-eight clash in 2018.

It was damaged so badly that a replacement had to be sourced for their return journey after the game, because the original was deemed unusable.

Liverpool fans have a tradition of greeting the team coaches before big games, although public gatherings of more than six people are currently prohibited due to coronavirus.

He said: “It is so strange because you go with your own bus through the crowd and it feels fantastic, it is passion.

“Then you come into the stadium and the first thing I heard is they smashed the bus of Man City and it kills everything in that moment for us.

“You cannot be happy about that, you don’t feel ‘it’ any more.

“Because of a few idiots it will maybe never happen again. It changed everything.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp faces questions on recruitment after Champions League exit to Real Madrid

Liverpool's all-conquering season that brought them the club's first league title in 30 years seemed an age away as they were eliminated by Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final at a deserted Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp's side, who carried all before them in the league last season, are now left with only the Premier League's top four - and a place in Europe's elite competition next term - to aim for if they are to salvage something from this fragmented, disappointing, injury-hit campaign.

As Zinedine Zidane's players celebrated a professional job that saw them set up a Champions League semi-final against Chelsea, Klopp was left to ponder Liverpool's fall from grace in the past 12 months.

He will no doubt face calls from frustrated Reds fans to revamp a squad that has served him and the club magnificently in recent seasons - indeed the social media jury was already delivering that knee-jerk verdict moments after elimination.

The manager, quite rightly, will guard against over-reaction. Liverpool have achieved too much and have too many high-class players for that - but that does not mean he does not have serious questions to consider.

So does this Liverpool squad really need a major overhaul, or just minor renewal?

A team as good as Liverpool have been seems an unlikely candidate for an extensive rebuild - but fresh faces can create momentum, renewal and a new mood, and this group has been together a long time.

When Liverpool and Real met in the Champions League final in Kyiv in 2018, Klopp's line-up included seven of those who started at Anfield on Wednesday.

And in those intervening three years Liverpool have continued to lean heavily on those seven starters from Kyiv on all fronts.

They have been carrying a very heavy workload for a long time and while the likes of Diogo Jota, who has been excellent, and Thiago Alcantara, who has not, have lightened the load in phases this season, Liverpool's squad and best starting line-up still has a very familiar look to it. It is inevitable it has taken its toll.

Injuries have been the backdrop to all of Liverpool's efforts this season and their inspirational leader - and one of the world's finest central defenders - Virgil van Dijk is expected to be fit for the start of next season after the serious knee injury that has kept him out since September.

Joe Gomez, another fine talent, should also be back after a similar injury but there is no question a central defensive reinforcement is required. It remains to be seen whether it will be Ozan Kabak, currently on loan from Schalke, or RB Leipzig's outstanding 24-year-old Ibrahima Konate. Nat Phillips has been excellent but Klopp needs more strength and quality.

Klopp has plenty of resources in midfield but Georginio Wijnaldum's reluctance to sign a new contract points towards his departure while Jordan Henderson, still a huge influence at 30, has been sorely missed in his injury absences.

Thiago was meant to be a tempo-dictating game-changer after arriving from last season's Champions League winners Bayern Munich but he has struggled, and it was significant that he did not start in either leg of this quarter-final when these looked like the sort of games he had been signed to play in.

Liverpool are relaxed about any speculation on Mohamed Salah's future. The Egyptian is 29 in June but is still of such world class that he would command a huge fee. It would be a major shock if any situation developed where he left Anfield this summer.

The complications may arise if Liverpool fail to reach next season's Champions League, a real possibility as they currently stand sixth, three points behind surprise package West Ham in fourth.

The idea of dropping into Europe's lesser competitions may exercise the minds of the likes of Salah.

Jota has been a major success since his £45m summer arrival from Wolves and Liverpool will look to him to offer competition, respite and support for their main three forwards next season - although Roberto Firmino's indifferent form means he may face a real fight for his place from the Portuguese.

But even if Liverpool do not finish in the Champions League places this is a time for measured judgements and careful recruitment, rather than for tearing down the monument to success that has brought Klopp and his players the European and domestic glory in the two preceding seasons.

Just goes to show how key our famed Anfield support is. I think that's a massive factor. An imperious home record in tatters, breaking an almost 100 year record in the process for consecutive home defeats.

I think it's a combination of injuries, the lack of fans and teams learning how to play against us. Basically hitting us on the counter and us not being intricate enough to create chances against packed defences becuase the crossing from Trent/Robbo has become predictable and ineffective.

The CBs haven't been good enough. Kabak is not assured and Phillips is inexperienced. Phillips is improving but neither inspire me with confidence; I'm always expecting a blunder with Kabak!

Well well well. What a finish. I gave us no chance..and we finished 3rd. How?

Brilliant turnaround in the last 10 league games - won 8 and drawn 2

Credit to Klopp and the players as they qualify for the Champions League.

Hush about what?

EPL finished 2 months ago, no one is interested in top 4 anymore, unless you are a fan of those clubs.

We had the best record in the EPL over the last ten games or something. It was the middle of the season when the absence of VVD was felt that we fell away so badly.
