Whats the fastest delivery you have faced?

65-75, so quick for me i couldn't get on the front foot although i am a very backfoot dominant player, in the nets there was a guy at ECB academy that i feel was bowling around 75/80+ hit me in the body the bruise didnt go way for more than a week and if i attempted to run it would kill me!

My nephew 80+mph, played against the aussies . Seen him in the nets too quick for me.

I am a 13 year old guy and I have faced guys who are around 18 in the school nets before the tournaments(as our coach wants us to be good). They bowl fairly quickly,I think around 115 ks. I usually play our team(U-13) bowlers without thigh pads and did the same that day, unfortunately, a sharp inswinger had me. Didn't lay the next game but recovered well.

Very sure I have faced 140-145. Akhtar ayub use to bowl very quick at his prime and we use to face him in nets. Now i think 130-138 kph range bowlers like adnan ghani the deaf guy frm speed hunt faced hammad azam haseeb all were pretty quick

In my club game, faced 2 consecutive fast balls, both hit on my balls :p and after 2nd ball I gave up.

In a tournment I was sent as opener ( Although I was middle order batsman, but team was not satisfied with other players to open, they had alot of believe in me), Ball was very fast and I got golden duck.

I think at both times ball speed may be 90-100kph.

Once one of fast bowler trained alot to bowl very very fast. Then in first match after that training he destroyed our batting line up but when I went on wicket, I hitted him for 2 4s. And after that incident he was very scary of me. In any match whenever I was on wicket, even when 9 wickets are down, he used to say untill this person is on wicket, we cant win match.

His speed may be between 100-110kph. And it was before the rise of shoaib akhtar. (mid 90s)

I have faced 85 mph against a bowling machine and it was very scary. At 75-80 I am ok but if moves even a little bit its very hard to handle. You need a lot of practice to train your reflexes to play high speed deliveries.

ive actually faced bilwaal bhatti,

basically i went to local take away to order some whole chicken (within my own area), my friend who plays loads of cricket knows a few asian county players and he gets invitied whenever pak comes to nottingham.
Well my friend was with bhatti in that takeaway - been thr for few hours just him and owner of shop just talking and i said salaam- as my friend introduced me to him (i cant talk urdu/punjabi, but i can understand it).

I think bilwaal was in u.k doing something within derby for training or looking for a club here in U.K - came to notts for a day.

Well i was hyping myself up as a joke - and we have a massive park in our area - with cricket pitch - we ended going thr - he kept saying he wont ball as fast as he can cuz i wont able to handle it - i kept hyping myself up:
1st bowl seemed like 75mph - i played the dilshaan scoop: ball just missed my face by 1-2inches and fell on my back - friend started to laugh out load at bilwaal as it would have went for a 4 & that im known for doing that shot 1st ball in nets.

he slightly kept upping his pace after every ball - i kept defending onto offside- kept hyping myself (friend at other end was encouraging to bowl faster, teach me a lesson),
he easily bowled 1 at me around 82-85 - i smacked it onto offside - MIDDLED IT - didnt even see the delivery.

Last bowl to me 15 yard run up - he F****** bounced it at me but not right at my body (just to scare me) EASILY 87-90mph - had no clue - as it was so fast it seemed it nearly missed my chin.

He winked with a smile, and i call it a day,
When i was at takeaway - my friend never told me who he was - what level he played at ( i assumed he played locally in Pak and came to U.K looking for work). Only met the guy for 3 hrs that day and only after my friend told me he was who he was and played for pak under 19's and was clocled at average like 141kph - friend just smilled at me and called me you silly b******.

This was i believe either last yr or yr before. Nice guy down to earth - he certainly didnt look like he could bowl that fast - didnt look muscular ( but not skinny either), very small guy, looked 5.9'-5'10', as im 6'3'.

140-142 at in the nets, actually they were two of them. I was brought to the practice by my senior club member who played in higher divisions. There were speed guns belonging to a Canadian fast bowler. One of the dude was a West Indian, the other was a pakistani, I simply couldn't see the ball, i saw the ball leaving their hand and I could not even see the ball travelling. Couple of balls went behind me, one almost hit be in the rib and i managed to block it with my bat. I had to plead to the bowlers to bowl on the offstump or outside the off stump. I just stuck my bat every time the ball came, i managed to hit...well you can say that the ball managed to hit my bat on the meat and traveled fast as hell. I saw the bowler knod his head and i just yelled"THE NEXT PERSON CAN BAT NOW'.

136 Kmph. I actually played a cut shot even though I faced 130+ first time in my life.

I cant play any delivery confidently over 110 kph so most likely it never came to that

I have been recorded at 125-132 kph range each delivery for an over as a 17-18 year old though.

might be slightly bit a faster now who knows but I have very little skills in terms of seaming or swing or any other tricks so any proper batsmen will find it easy to negotiate me

but in street cricket back home some pace is all you need to get out tullay baaz so I am :waqar there :D

85mph...vs a bowling machine. It was TOO QUICK. I don't know how international batsmen face 90+mph.

I'm 17 and I bowl at speeds touching 70mph. I've faced bowlers faster than me. I don't really mind facing the pace, I just hate it when it swings at pace.

Defending extreme pace with no movement is manageable, the tricky part is playing your shots.

It was Soft ball (also called training ball) I dont know the speed but It was sure 130+kph and no ball that went over my head. I Was hardly able to duck.

Thanks, the guy very down to earth - didnt show any kind off arrogance - he didnt even laugh at my batting. The guy seemed very shy, especially im known to talk very little, he was talking less than me, but we whre asking loads of questions about pak cricketers.

He said GUL was easily one of the most talented bowlers he has seen, - especially in training but doesnt know why he goes missing in matches.

Did you play off the pitch or did you pick the length from his hand ?

i faced only 3 balls from azar Attari pakistan U19 2008 team bowler, very quick on cement wicket,

but the most impressive bowler, i was in a friendly match at jebel ali (UAE), one boy from labor camp, very fast, accurate, and swing in and out, very smooth action.

Thivagar what were their names?

No idea, from what I know, the WI bowler played for St.Vincent, St.Lucia or St.Kitts and was a spray gun. The Pakistani bowler was called "Mo" and he played "ZONE Cricket" in Pakistan and played cricket in England as well. The deliveries felt like on coming cars going past you in a highway. It is hard to explain, unless you have faced them. Didn't see a huge difference between 135-137 and 142 to be honest. Anything over 120 felt really fast and everything else seemed only slightly quicker. Maybe my eyes were getting used to watch them go by.

From 4:30 to 4:32 that's about 120km/h and the following delivery from 4:34 to 4:36 is no faster than 135km/h.

That's not why I asked. I've played 130-140k and play it comfortably and am pretty quick myself. Just wanted to know their names.

Thanks though.

How good were my eyes? Not sure I understood the question.

How was your vision in general ? Were your eyes good when playing deliveries like those during your days ? Or were you wearing glasses or anything like that ? What would you give your vision out of 10 in your prime playing days ?

Mate, I'm still a youngsta beauty.

Yeah, my vision and hand-eye are pretty good. Am a pretty good athlete. I've played tier 1 ball in Toronto as starting pg.

I thought you were actually 64 lol. You know Ahmer Askary ?

once i faced 80 mph delievery on a machine... trust me it felt me like a rocket! lol
all it takes is to watch international players in a live net session to realise they are on a completely different level.
There is no doubt that international cricketers are at a very high level, but an 80 mph from a bowling machine will always feel quicker than an 80 mph by an actual bowler because of the lack of visual cues.

Also, net pitches are usually even paced. How quickly the ball comes onto the bat depends greatly on the type of surface.

Another mistake that people make is compare tape ball cricket to actual cricket. A lot of international players look completely ordinary when they try their hands on tape ball cricket and the reverse also applies to tape ball stars.

I have seen people advocate that Pakistan should fast track some successful tape ball circuit players as pinch hitters but the guys would be worse than Azam Khan at hard ball.

I have faced bowlers bowling around 75-80 MPH with the real ball. I was solid with my block but could hardly score any big shots. Blocking isn't that hard(if no significant lateral movement) at this speed once you have faced a few balls during practice and your hand eye coordination is good enough. What is hard is scoring boundaries and hitting towards gaps.

I could save my pads and wickets from being hit but hardly had any time to swing my bat and direct the ball towards a gap. A total borefest with some singles and doubles

99 mph messing with bowling machine was scary. That was U16s practice at our local county team here.

Was in about 2000 so less health and safety.

Faced speed gun set at 75Mph and blocked most of the straighter bowls but any time there is even a hint of movement I couldn't touch the ball not even a single time.

I have practiced with a bowling machine a few times.

I think fastest I faced was around 130 KMH. I don't quite remember.

I used to play league cricket (lower division) in Canada. I mostly faced bowlers with speeds of less than 130 KMH.

Faced a bowling machine here in Canada a few years ago that was said to be around 65-70 mph but felt even faster to be honest. It was difficult to see the ball let alone judge the pitch and go on front foot or back foot, was quite a humbling experience and I gained a lot of respect for international batsman who consistently play 85-90 mph.
