...we (Pakistan) won the deciding game of a bilateral ODI series?

Admittedly off the top of my head, I can think of only defeats against the likes of Australia, South Africa, England, New Zealand and India over the past 5-6 years.

Any ideas folks?

similar to you brother cant remember us winning a decider

actually on second thought i think we may have won a series decider against the lankans in sharjah, when afridi got a 5 for, and a 50

We won the series against India but lost the last game, not the deciding game. We did however lost

Lost to AUS 2012
Lost to SA 2010
Lost to Eng 2010
Lost to NZ 2009

we won the final of Kitply Cup in 2008, that is the last time we won a deciding game :)

YA its been a long time we won a 5th Odi vs SL in SL in 09 but that was a dead rubber as we lost first three games.......similarly we lost the decider vs NZ in UAE in 09.......also we lost the last ODi of almost all the series VS NZ in 09 Eng 10 SA 10 NZ 11 WI 11 ENG 12 SL 12 AUS 12 IND 13 :facepalm............ barring Bangla Zim n SL in UAE (2011)

^well we won the last ODI against India in 2005, to win series 4-2. It was a decider as a lost would meant we draw the series.

So its been 8 years :inzi

That's correct so now it means 2 deciders in 13 years that's a big WOW lol

yes it was the one against India in 2005, nothing to be disappointed about though, It only means there have been several occasions when Pakistan have won the series beforehand.

Well our ODI record hasnt been great in the past decade but this particular stat is more worrisome. We continue to choke in deciding games

Yes i agree but winning a decider after 1-1 or 2-2 its the one which shows which team is better in handling pressure.

Please i don't want this choker label to be with Pakistan lets wait for the result of Sunday game.

lol terrible record, definitely have been chokers in these deciding matches. The last series in England they definitely should have won but collapsed chasing a fairly easy total under pressure.

A classic win no doubt, but that wasn't quite the do-or-die situation I'm talking about, more like do-or-draw.

I guess it's 13 years, plus with no ODI series wins against SA, the boys have got a chance to make a bit of history tomorrow...

For the record, by far our worst 'choke' in these deciders was the extraordinary game against SA back in '07

Horrific memories.

Its been a while, they've lost a fair few in the last 2-3 years thanks to the mid order throwing their wkts away :afridi

lol, disastrous game. Kallis scoring 86 after getting dropped on 0 by Kami, what a sitter that was. And an epic choke job in the end there with target in sight :misbah:malik:afridi

I can't remember the last time. Can any other PPer do so? How many consecutive "deciders" have we lost?

Last time was against Zimbabwe about a year ago, Zim won the first ODI, with Pak winning the next 2.

but against a non minnow its still when we won against India in 2005 to make 4-2, so its been 9 years.

We loses too many deciders but hopefully we will this one on Saturday. :)

don't seem to recall

i remember pakistan having lost all deciders , they got lucky twice to actually have a decider twice with south Africa. Its ironic that pakistan is struggling with death bowling , Junaid doesnt have a decent slower bowl , wahab well if only he could get his wrist right he would actually bowl better at conventional pace . irfan just proves that why education is so important in ones life , he can bowl unplayable yorkers his action is quite an easy one ,so he can easily target stumps. I hope Ajmal gets banned i seriously hope do and babar gets injured , if you are to loose loose with guys like Raza Hassan or a leggie. A match winner will win you a match single handedly but he can do it 2or3 times in 10 matches , you need consistent performs ,they are the actual match winners. Honestly i dont see pakistan winning earlier they were unpredictable , any result was possible , now they are consistent , consistent at loosing

We always tend to bottle it in deciders so wont be shocked if we do so again on saturday!

Another decider n it could be same old story #raggingturner Dambulla

We've done well in our last few 3-match bilateral ODI series:

Beat IND in India 2-1
Beat ZIM in Zimbabwe 2-1 (not exactly an achievment but still)
Beat SA in South Africa 2-1

So following that pattern we should beat SL in SriLanka 2-1 :)

#Optimistic.

The last time we won a decider against a good team was against Australia in 2002 under Waqar Younis :( no success after that

Australia 2002 the last time we won a decider against a non minnow. We have been very bad in the last 10 years in the final decider ODI.

I went into my post history to find this thread I made, didn't realise it had been bumped!

I think anay do series was the last which we one in series decider??

Considering Pakistan always seems to bottle it under pressure and the West Indies in particular have had the advantage of Pakistan in ICC tournaments lately, tomorrow will be no cake-walk.

Has to do with the WI teams in the ICC tournaments being stronger though right. Half the WI team just plays World tournaments and T20 leagues.

Pakistan have lost 12 out of their last 14 bilateral ODI series deciders with 2 victories coming against Zimbabwe, let's see how they perform in this decider.

Need proven big match players like Sarfraz, Malik and Amir to step up tomorrow.

Amir hasn't done anything note-worthy in his entire career apart from a five-fer at the 'G and a series against England on green tracks.

The last two times we have won series deciders have both been against Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe - one in 2015 and back in 2013.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/zimbabwe-v-pakistan-2013/engine/series/659535.html

Before that - we beat WI 3-1 in a series decider in 2013 since one of the games was tied and we were 2-1 heading in to the final game...

http://www.espncricinfo.com/usa/engine/series/645627.html

Before that - the last time we won a true series decider where the series victory was on the line was also in 2013 against Ireland where the first ODI was tied and the second we won by 2 wickets.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/usa/engine/series/601611.html

Before that - the last time we won an ODI series decider without a tied or washed out game was back in 2006 when we beat Scotland by 5 wickets in a 1 game series.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/usa/engine/series/240778.html

Before that - the last time we won an ODI series decider without a tied or washed out game consisting of atleast 3 games was way back in 2002 when we beat Australia 2-1 IN Australia. We lost the first game but rebounded to win the next two games and with it - the series.

Wow long time and it took a lot of digging!

We are mentally the most fragile team since 2000s don't know how we manage to won that wt20, some miracle I guess.

I want Pak to win. Youngsters to perform and TTFs to fail miserably.

Might be prudent to start a thread: "When was the last time Pakistan played without a TTF in the line-up?"

I guess it was either a very very long time ago, or most likely - never.

Yeah.. never would be the right answer. Seriously we have struggled a lot more due to these TTFs.

Didn't Pakistan beat India in their last bilateral ODI series? So when exactly was there a decider?

I believe they also won the last bilateral ODI series against SA with a game to spare so no such thing as a decider there either.

So not quite sure why they're included in your question.

Using that criteria, you should include the '05 series vs India as Pakistan was up 3-2 heading into the final ODI, which they won.

Yes thats what I meant - the series victory was not on the line during the India/Pak series as an Indian victory in the final ODI would have meant a 3-3 draw

Pakistan have Terrible Record of in deciding game of a 5 match bilateral ODI s.

From my memory since 2010 we have not been very good at winning series decider in odis.

1)We lost 3-2 to England in 2010 in eng

2)lost to Sa 3-2 in Uae in 2010

3)lost to Sa 3-2 in 2013 in SA

3)lost to Newzealand in 2015 3-2 in uae

Another chance for pakistan against Sa in last odi.
