When will PCB ever hold Pakistan's female cricketers accountable for not delivering?

Lets be clear now, these women cricketers from Pakistan are no longer being selected to just make up the numbers. The PCB has significantly increased its investment, resources and support for Pakistani Womens Cricket in the last 7-8 years, they are being paid significantly higher, they have access to same practice and training facilities as men, they are allowed business class travel, they get maternity leave support.

But the PCB keeps sticking to the same bunch of 20-25 cricketers even though this bunch has been losing non-stop left right and centre to all the major teams. These bunch of players are tried and tested failures, they have had enough chances and they just do not have it at this level. There is no pressure on them to improve their game because they know there is no competition.

PCB needs to urgently get out there and get around 200-300 female cricketers in the system to provide some much needed competition to this bunch.

There is right now no demand for a Women's PSL because of the insipid performances from our female cricketers. Is there any one female cricketer in our team who will inspire any female to take up the sport like Smitri Mandhana has done for India?

Both Men's and Women's team share the 7th spot in t20i rankings. Pakistan women's team deserves more support.

Yes they only participate just for the sake of participating .last time they even lost to Thailand.

It seems they only exist for PR purposes so that PCB gets credit for atleast fielding a Women's team unlike Afghanistan..PCB gets PR, women Cricketers get their paycheck..purpose served.

I can't blame them for the lack of progress in women's cricket when there is no proper infrastructure in place.

Do they have a robust domestic structure? Are they offered competitive salaries? Do they have adequate exposure in world leagues?

When the same bunch of players have been playing for the last 10 years, you can absolutely blame them. This is a professional sport at the end of the day. If you don't deliver you get shown the door. The PCB has provided them with more then enough to deliver at the international stage. I have read many reports about the female cricketers lacking discipline, selecting their own favorite players in the team. Its an exact replica of the men's team.

its better to withdraw women team from cricket, they are not improving at all.. men's team is enough to give us heart attacks

Pakistan women's cricket team participating in tournaments is a treasure in itself.

They don't have to win anything. :inti

PCB needs to get in some British/American Pakistani women.

More athletic, better fitness, proper alpha mentality.

They are worse than the men's team. Honestly, their best player, Bismah Maroof only comes to mind for off-field purposes, not cricket.

Was watching a vlog of a senior sports reporters where he fully blasted the female cricketers no hold barred and even mentioned that some of these senior players like Nida Dar and others have now played over 100 plus games for Pakistan and they still are horribly inconsistent, have zero game awareness and their skills haven't improved. These female players take advantage of the fact that there are insufficient eye balls in female cricket in Pakistan in comparison to mens cricket therefore there is no one to question favouritism, nepotistic selections, junior female players are mistreated, dropped by senior players.

Its about time that women's cricket in Pakistan is properly run professionally. Put it under regular PCB's domain and recruit more women to take up the game at the domestic level.

Probably it's time they PCB actually put women's cricket in the back bench and focus to restructure the overall sport in the country.

This is even beyond embarrassing to even follow by the scorecard. Teams like Nepal are even better than how they have been.

Don't you think it's an interesting coincidence that our players across both genders coincidentally lack discipline and all the selections are based on dosti.

To me it shows its lazy reporting and the same lazy excuses given for the lack of progress in cricket.

Women's cricket is not serious like men's cricket (yet). It doesn't have a serious vibe.

So, I can see why accountability need is less.

What accountability- when has Pakistan held anybody truly accountable? And how anyone justify cutting funding to the women’s team, when the beloved men’s team has not won any WC in 32 years and is losing games to USA & Ireland cricket teams?

Its not like PCB hold the men's team accountable anyways. The current World Cup fiasco, having a new captain and then swapping back to old one after one series , questionable selections and ignoring domestic over glitz

How will u say that if womens ipl is the second expensive league after ipl ?

See Aussie womens matches ,they are much more professional in every aspect than pak men's team

I think once the women’s pool becomes bigger it will become more competitive and better players will start coming through. Have patience- see how even Bangladesh men’s team still have nothing of much importance to show after decades of playing despite so much following and support, so why hate on Pakistani women who don’t even have that kind of people support, money, following, infrastructure, or fame? Give them more support and time.

another Asia Cup and another horrible performance by our ladies.

major surgery is actually needed here!

They have even lesser infrastructure, history than Men's. So they will go through a phase where they will play like minnows. Till then you have to be patient. India has a long history in Women's cricket. They don't need to feel pressurized. That will be counter productive as they are in their early stages.

When PCB will build a proper infrastructure for women from grassroot to domestic.

Right now the results exactly reflect PCB's investment and involvement to improve women's cricket.

PCB should also do surgery here. These women just can not win anything. probably 4th best out of top 4 teams in asia.

Infrastructure or not. These female players are very well paid and looked after in comparison to the previous generation of female cricketers.

Unless players are brutally held accountable, they will never face pressure to up their games.

Not entirely true, the PCB just boosted their investment in women's cricket from Rs 7 crores to Rs 24 crores. The PCB needs to do value for money audits and assess the return on investment on each ruppee spent on these players

These women are also doing groupings I guess. PCB will have to be a bit more strict and accountability should be here because they have been really poor in every event. No real big win for Pakistan women so far.

This was announced this month. Why would the cricketers be accountable for anything more than 7 crores in infrastructure and development right now?

Not to mention 24 Crores (Just under a million dollars) as an investment in a team in the realm of team sports is nothing.

To the guys crying about women cricket team of Pakistan. What percentage of PCB resources do they actually get?
according to PCB:

Annually, the PCB spends a budget of approximately Rs 227 million for the promotion and development of the game (both at Domestic & International level)

How much revenue do these women generate for PCB in response to that budget???

Women cricket doesn't generate anything anywhere in the world. We all know that. i think this total amount is less than what Babar Azam alone gets from PCB.

Then why do you think PCB is spending so much money if nothing is generated in return. Only Pakistan women are far behind inrevenue generation. Rest of the countries like Australia, indiaa re still making something.

Sports bodies are not business companies, they are meant to uplift the sports in the country. There are tons and tons of loss making sports. By that metric, others sports should get absolute zero funding.

How much money has been spent on Arshad Nadeem? Even if he wins, an Olympic medal doesn't bring any revenue.
Then we will have no sports left in Pakistan.
Even Pakistan Cricket survives on the patronage of ICC, else its a heavily loss making venture. Pakistan Men cricket will have an annual loss to the tunes of tens of Millions of dollars without ICC funding.

I thought the Women displayed far more fighting spirit than their male counterparts. They lost badly to India and it was expected but they came back strongly and ran SL down to the wire.

What revenue does first class cricket generate? Yet PCB, BCCI, ECB fund it because you need to encourage a culture of sports in the country and you hope that 1 out of every 100 of those playing first class eventually play for Pakistan/India/England and bring fame, glory and money to the country.

It's the same principle with women's cricket.

Comparing domestic with international women when they are competing with the world is not a great idea. PCB should do accountability of women as well if they are spending millions on them. Simple

PCB is not spending Millions, its 3/4 of a million dollars and if we delve deeper I can guess it will turn out to be some sort compulsion of using ICC funds.

it is 227 million PKR..
To make it sound impressive we can use a more weaker currency to make it billions and Trillions too.
PCB has annual expenditure more than 10s of Billion PKR. This translates to less than 2% of total expenditure of PCB.
PCB spends more on its retired administrators than on women Cricket.

227 million is not a small amount for Pak Women. Where is the accountability??? That is my question.

Sir, you are spending more on retired administrators of PCB ... that's not a big amount by any stretch!
so this amount is not big.... 227 million is a good amount for such a structure of women for a start. My simple question is where is that accountability of women's team???

Amount is not big so there should be no questions ????

Pakistan Men's Cricket A contract is 4,500,000 per month while women A contract is 120,000 per month.
Is that even middle class salary in Pakistan??
That's less than 40,000 Indian Rupees. IT graduates from Tier 3 colleges earn more than that.

they have been delivering far more with the crappy resources they got then their male counterparts. PCB is barely giving them livable wages.

PCB first needs to hold the men's team accountable for their shambolic performances in the last 12 months...

Pakistan Women about to lose against Bangladesh Women in T20 WC 2024 warm up match today. So pathetic

What resources and facilities has PCB given women cricketers? What infrastructure is there for women's cricket in Pakistan and how much have PCB invested in women's cricket? Until recently cricketers like Fatima Sana were training on their own in public parks. A couple of weeks ago they even stopped giving women's cricketers daily allowances for training camps. That how low-rent PCB are. This month they are doing women's trails in Pakistan for the first time! And then people question why our women's team is where it is..

Even in Pakistan you could make twice as much as an IT graduate with minimal work experience. PCB's handling of women's cricket is beyond shameful.

Under Ehsan Mani, Wasim Khan the female Pakistani Cricketers have been very well supported i.e. getting decent match fees, allowances, central contracts, business class travel, social media coverage. The present bunch of Pakistani female cricketers have been very well supported in comparison to the past. The PCB has not seen any return on investment from these cricketers who have now developed the same stagnant, entitled attitude as the male senior cricketers.

Pak Women cricket team have achieved nothing so far and purely from a commercial prospective it should be disbanded with money giving to them be utilized in the grass root level of men cricket.

They need a proper set up and investment. Sub contintent doesn't have a sporting culture specially for women. Hence it's more necessary. Once women start looking at cricket as a good career option, quality talent will come along

Remind me again how long ago were Ehsan Mani and Wasim Khan in-charge? And FYI PCB has not followed through on any of the programs they committed to during that time. How have they been supported btw? When they make a fraction of what the male cricketers make? What is the investment you are speaking of? What happened to the Women's PSL?

I wish you had the same perspective when the men's team lost to USA and Bangladesh

What stands out most with some of the responses on this thread is the coded/internalized misogyny. It's something I have noticed alot whenever women's cricket in Pakistan is brought up. Because you don't the same posters making these kind of harsh statements when the men's cricket team does badly. But with women its always same

Given that the men have performed so truly appallingly recently (USA and BD losses come to mind) I’m struggling to find your posts advocating the defunding of men’s cricket in Pakistan.

Or is accountability gender related ?

Exactly — couldn’t have put it better
